Two guards stood by the exit, their backs turned. Lyra took a deep breath, then nodded to Reina. They slipped past the guards, moving as silently as shadows.
Lyra moved forward as she noticed Reina hand slipped away. She stopped as she turned back to her
"Reina? What are you doing? The carriage is over there, we need to hurry. " Lyra said.
"My Lady Please we need to leave" Xenia begged her but she just shook her head as she moved backwards with tears in her eyes.
Reina stood in the echoing corridor of the palace, the shadows of dusk creeping in through the tall windows. Her eyes, still damp with tears, flickered with determination as she turned to face Xenia and Lyra. The urgency in her voice was unmistakable.
"You could go with her, Xenia. You should be safe. You are not safe here in the palace; Theodore might come for you. You should go with Lyra to Agrah. You would be safe there."
"And how about you My Lady. " Xenia creased her brow.
