Aella sipped the tea as slowly as she could just so her face would be concealed even if it was for a little while.
She dropped the cup on the saucer as her hand trembled like a leaf under a storm.
Sneaking a glance at her mother, she saw those daggers staring right into her soul which made her look away instantly.
After she saw her father, the Baroness had pulled her down to the sitting room with her supposed 'husband' as she said they needed to talk.
She had asked the maid to prepare some tea for them but Aella knew what it meant if her mother asked for only tea to be made.
It meant trouble.
The Baroness had a code of hosting that only the ones who knew her well could attest to.
Whenever she was pleased with someone, she would order the maids to make some of her favourite biscuits to be served with the tea but if she only asked for tea, it meant the person wasn't welcome in her home.
