Phoebe was clueless as to what to do. If her parents indeed needed to speak to her, why the hide and seek? She wondered. Maybe it wasn't her parents? But who else knew about her?
"Take off your necklace," Chad told her. Phoebe glanced at him with a confused look on her face. "We need to know if it's the necklace or not."
"Why don't she go in first and stay in for five minutes?" Gwen suggested. "If it happens again, she can take off the necklace and try again."
Phoebe was okay with Gwen's plan. She took a step into the bathroom and shut the door. She set the timer to five minutes and watch the clock tick by seconds. She looked at the mirror every now and then but there was no reflection. The five minutes was over and there was no reflection. She came out of the bathroom and Gwen approached her first.
"Well?"she asked.
Phoebe shook her head. "There was no reflection."
"Try taking off the amulet." Gwen told her.
Phoebe was about to take off the amulet when Chad stopped her. "There's no point."
"What do you mean?" asked Gwen and Phoebe in unison.
"You were wearing the necklace when you saw the reflection, right?" Chad asked and Phoebe nodded. "If there was no reflection when she went in with the necklace, there will be no reflection if she goes in without the necklace."
"Does that mean it has nothing do do with the amulet?" Phoebe asked.
Chad nodded. "It's getting late already, we should grab some sleep."
They all nodded and said good night to one another before they went to bed.
It was midnight. Phoebe was in her bed sleeping soundly when she felt a tap on her shoulders. She opened her eyes and was surprised to see her mother in front of her. She rubbed her eyes multiple times to be sure she was seeing what she was seeing right now. After rubbing her eyes to her satisfaction, she looked and saw her mother standing there.
She was about to call mom but her mom quickly shushed her. Her mother gestured Phoebe to follow her. She was reluctant at first but later she mustered up the courage and went. She could see Chad and Gwen still fast asleep. She tiptoed and left with her mother.
Her mother opened the door of the house but instead of going outside, she saw herself somewhere else. It was a whole different place. She could see a castle and there was this darkness hovering around the place.
"Where is this place?" she asked her mother.
Her mother turned to look at her and said, "This is Havillah, my home... Our home." she rephrased.
Phoebe didn't understand why a kingdom could be so darken that only the fire stand was providing a little light to the palace. "Why is it this way? Has it always been like this?" she asked.
Her mother shook her head. "The guardians cursed the kingdom and that's why the sun and moon as refused to give its light."
"I had no idea it was this bad."
"I heard the Prince and his gardener are in your world searching for you." Phoebe looked at her mother, she pondered on whether or not she should tell her that she has met the Prince and Lucas but her mother's next statement shook her. "I hope they never find you. We suffered so much in the hands of the king. He killed too many innocent people and this is a little punishment. I wish the guardians will do more harm than these."
Phoebe was tongue-tied, she couldn't say a word as she listened to her mother lament.
"We pleaded and beg for our lives but the guards took no pity and wasted our lives like it was nothing."
"Mom," she tried to calm her down but her mother's tears was priceless.
"Promise me that you will not help them." She held Phoebe's hands and pleaded with her. "Promise me."
Phoebe was speechless. All she wanted to do now was to wake up from this beautiful nightmare. She was happy to see her mother but these words were not what she expected.
"Mom," she took her mother's hands and covered them with hers. "I love you so much and I will love to do that which you require of me but..." she let go of her mother's hands and took a look at the palace. "There are innocent people suffering here too, mother." she paused and looked at her mother. "I know you are hurt and you have every right to be but you stopping me from helping this people would also mean, you will be killing innocent people too and there'd be no difference between you and the king, is this what you want?"
Her mother shook her head but then the scene kept replaying herself in her mind. The scene where she protected Phoebe replayed and she shut her eyes to endure the pain. "You could have died. They could have killed you without thinking you were a baby. What..."
Phoebe hugged her mother and said, "I am alive, that's all that matters. I don't think I am alive for no reason. This could be my destiny."
Her mother turned around and stroke her hair and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Promise me you will take good care of yourself." Phoebe nodded.
"I promise, mom."
"It's time to go back." her mother pointed behind her and when she turned to see what her mother was pointing at, she saw a door. "I will always be with you."
Phoebe waved her hands and walked to the door. She glanced one more time at her mom. "My regards to dad!" she said before opening the door.
"I love you!" her mom yelled and she returned the words back to her mother and entered the house.
Phoebe was surprised when she felt a tap on her shoulders. She opened her eyes and saw Gwen and Chad in front of her.
"Who were you telling I love you?" Gwen asked.
Phoebe was surprised. Was it all a dream? Why did it feel so real? the wondered. She turned to Gwen and with a smile on her face, she said. "I saw my mom."
"And?"
"I got her approval."
Chad and Gwen glanced at eachother before looking at her. "Approval for what?"
"I will be helping the Prince restore back his kingdom."
"What?" Chad and Gwen chorused.
Phoebe knew they'd be shock to hear that but she couldn't keep it a secret from them. She was going to help the Prince. She has no idea what she'd face there but she was willing to take the risk.
