Chereads / Breaking The Guardians Curse / Chapter 12 - Twelve

Chapter 12 - Twelve

The kiss lingered for a long time and it took a while for Chad to get himself and when he did, he pulled her away from him. "Are you out of your mind?" he asked her before looking around, trying to find if anyone was watching but he found no one.

"Why can't you accept my love for you, Chad?"

"You are like a sister to me."

"And so is Phoebe." She cuts in.

"I never said I am interested in her."

"You don't need to say it. It's obvious."

Chad had to calm himself before speaking because he was scared he'd say words he didn't mean and instead of making things better, he'd make them worse, so he kept quiet.

"What do I need to do to make you love me?"

Chad was about to reply when Phoebe walked up to meet them. She was so happy to see Gwen but when she looked at their faces, she could tell that something was wrong. Chad decided to leave them so they could sort things out while he watched from afar.

Phoebe walked closer to Gwen and took her by the hands and said, "I am sorry for hurting your feelings, Gwen. I will do anything to make up for what I did."

Gwen pulled her hands away from Phoebe while looking at her. "You said you'd do anything..." Phoebe nodded. Gwen folded and arms and used the opportunity to ask her, "Can you stay away from Chad?"

Phoebe was shocked at the question so she asked, "What do you mean to stay away from Chad?"

"I love Chad."

"And I love him too as a brother, I can't just stay away from him Gwen."

Gwen didn't bother replying, she tried to leave when Phoebe grabbed her hand, stopping her from going any further. "I'll..." she paused.

"You will what?" Gwen asked.

"I'll stay away from him." Phoebe agreed and Gwen hugged her.

"Apology accepted then." She held her hand and took her to meet Chad who was very happy to see that they had both worked it out.

"How am I so happy to see you girls back together." He said while hugging them.

Phoebe had to fake a smile just so Chad wouldn't notice. How was she going to stay away from Chad was something she had no idea about but she wishes Chad stays away from her instead.

"Let's go in, shall we?"

They all went inside the house.

King of Euphrates, Bashar was sitting on his throne when the prince came in. He bowed his head to greet him.

"If it's not the Prince of Havilla. " King Bashar said while walking towards the prince. "To what honor do I owe this visit?"

"Permission to talk about this alone with you?" he looked at the guards that were surrounding him and the prince.

King Bashar smiled while gesturing to the guards to leave. He was about to tell his son to leave but before he could, his son said he was staying.

"I don't trust anyone." Prince Zod said while glaring at Prince Edward.

"Fine then."

The King gestured to one of the maidens to prepare them a meal while he sat down on his throne to listen to the Prince.

"A terrible thing has befallen the Kingdom of Havilla," Prince Edward began. "King Ghardiel is in a terrible condition and the kingdom is in a terrible state. We have neither food nor water and the people are suffering. I have come to make an appeal to you that you give us access to your store."

"My store?" King Bashar asked.

"Our people are hungry and there's nowhere else to go to. Please help us out on this." The prince begged.

"Let's say we agree to give you access to our store, what's in it for us?" Prince Zod asked.

"We brought in gold, silver..."

"That's not enough. How do you intend to make the curse go away?" the prince of Euphrates cuts in.

"There is a solution."

"Which is?"

"We need to bring a girl who has the guardian's blood in her, only she can break the curse."

The Prince whispered to his father while the Prince watched. After some time, the King turned to Prince Edward and said, "We will grant you this access..."

"But on one condition." The Prince added.

"Which is?"

"You'd grant us a request."

"Which is?" Prince Edward asked again.

"When the time comes, you will find out but we need you to decide if you will grant us that request or not."

"I have no idea what you are going to request. How am I sure you are not going to request for my head on a platter of gold?"

"Don't worry, no one's head will be needed. And it will be a request you can grant. Do we have a deal?" The prince of Euphrates stretched forth his hand.

Prince Edward thought about it a bit but had no idea what the prince and the king were up to but the more he delayed, the more he was scared they would change their minds.

"We change our minds easily." Prince Bashar warned and Prince Edward shook his hand as they sealed the deal.

"Ramirez!" The Prince called and the guard came to meet him.

"Yes, your highness."

"Take the Prince to the storehouse and give him everything he needs." The Prince ordered and Ramirez took Prince Edward to the storehouse.

After they left, King Bashar walked up to his son, "Are you sure about this?"

"Trust me, father. I know exactly what I am doing." Prince Zod said assuredly.

"I believe you."

Outside the palace, Liadon, the guard that stood his ground to protect the Prince was getting restless. "It's been five hours now and the Prince isn't out yet. What if something had happened to him?"

"The Prince is smart, I am sure he can handle just anything." one of the guards said.

"If he isn't out in the next few minutes, I swear by the guardians, I will pull down this gate."

"That won't be necessary Liadon." They heard a voice say and when Liadon turned he was glad to see the Prince. He rushed down to bow to him.

"Your highness."

"Sorry to have kept you all waiting. The King has given us access into the storehouse. Let's go in and get all we need to feed our people."

Everyone cheered.

The guards of Euphrates took the things the Prince brought while the guards of Havilla went into the storehouse to get the food they needed.

The Prince was happy but then there was one thing that bothered him. What kind of request is the Prince going to make that he couldn't say? Whatever the request is, would he be able to grant it?
