Chapter 24: The apology.
Melissa stood calmly at the terrace. She really enjoyed the view from up there. She took a deep breath and everything from last night started replaying in her head and she couldn't believe herself. She actually did something so outrageous. It was unbelievable. Her face turned bright red just thinking about it.
"Seems like you've remembered everything."
Hearing his voice Melissa turned around and saw Jeremy standing not so far away from her. How didn't she hear him walk in. Her face was still bright red. She wasn't ready to see him anymore.
"Mmm... Yes I did. And your right. I'm terribly sorry. I shouldn't have thought that way this morning." Melissa said nervously. She looked at everything else but his face.
"And what exactly were you thinking?."
"What??" Melissa asked confused the question taking her by surprise.
"I asked what exactly were you thinking?."
Melissa feeling there was absolutely no need to be asking such a question was a little stunned but not wanting to upset him anymore she replied.
"Uh...Well I thought you were a.."
"A what."
"I really don't see the need for that question. I just wanted to thank you for saving me last night
and putting up with my silliness when I was drunk."
"Well l liked you better when you were drunk." He said with a cold gaze. "You should get your stuff and leave." He said as he turned to leave.
Why was he being so mean to her. Was he still upset?
"Listen." Melissa called out. "I'm terribly sorry Okay. Don't be offended by my actions."
Jeremy didn't reply he didn't even flinch or turn to look at her. He just walked out.
Melissa just stood there as she watched him leave. "Was something wrong with my apology? Ugh... this is so frustrating. I'm sure he hates me now." Melissa muttered.
Not more than two minutes passed before Corene walked in handing Melissa her clothes and bag.
"I hope to see you real soon dear." Corene said with a warm smile and a hug that took Melissa by surprise but nevertheless she hugged her back. The sweet woman had been very kind to her.
"Me too."
"You should get going now master Steve has offered you a ride home."
"Who.??"
"Master Steve. His one of Sir's close friends."
"Oh. Okay. Can you take me downstairs, l don't wanna get lost again.
"Off course dear. Follow me."
Corene took Melissa downstairs. And then right outside were a Rolls-Royce was parked in front of the building. With a man leaning next to it. He was tall, a little muscular and quite handsome. He wore a white t-shirt and shorts with flip-flops. Like he was going to a beach. She had seen him before. Right.??
"Are you ready for your ride my lady?" He asked with a smile.
"Would l be getting it from you.?"
"Yes my lady. Your humble steward will gladly drive you home. Please do forgive my appearance." Steve said looking especially at his flip-flops.
It made Melissa chuckle. It's gonna be a heck of a car ride.
