Well she never seemed lonely, always humming whenever she prepared meals, and every weekend she gathered the children in the country side for Bible classes for she was a Christian, a very active member in the local church down the street. Emma went in smiling to herself as the aroma of home made bread filled her nostrils. The boys took her bags upstairs, they surely knew their way around the house from the way they walked around, Emma thought, at least they'd be keeping her granny company. As soon as they reappeared downstairs, Emma said a huge thanks to them suddenly realizing how good looking they were, she went to the kitchen seeing grandma hurriedly trying to make Emma tea. One thing was sure, she lived the aroma of this kitchen and yes too, the house was just as warm and cozy as she had hoped, "my dear hope you're not too tired?" Grandma asked smiling at lovely granddaughter, "no grandma I slept in the bus so I'd be awake for a long long long time" she said tossing her head to show how sure she was, Grandma laughed, "well I'm sure you wouldn't stay awake for too long, a journey is a journey" she said. Emma smiled gratefully collecting the cup of tea and the homemade bread she had been perceiving. She soon settled down for a relishing dinner. Grandma too ate with her granddaughter. It wasn't long that she finished her dinner than she dozed off in the cushion. Grandma urged get to go to her room upstairs but she insisted on staying there, "granny here is as good as my room in Washington DC" she said with sleepy eyes "well the main reason I want you to go upstairs to your room...is because of rats" grandma lied thoughtfully, "whoa...!" Emma shouted, hurrying to her room for she hated rats, she showered and relaxed on her bed , it wasn't long since she turned her lights off that grandma came in to pray with her, thanking God for bringing her granddaughter safely to her, after that she placed a plate of cookies on Emma's table and left. Emma are her cookies in bits, well that was it, Emma thought. Destiny musr have been in good terms with her to have sent her at such a time, nothing was as good as this, but how she wished Miles were here too.
Emma was awoken by the penetrating smell of fresh medicinal leaves which seemed to have been steaming in the pot, she got up slowly starring at her phone, seeing up to ten calls she had missed, she sighed scrolling through her call log, "dad... Miles" she said as she scrolled further, she saw her mum's call too, she laughed, "mum even called, they must be thinking I'm a stray child now" laughing again, her mind went to Ryan, how can a boyfriend not seeing his long expected girlfriend in Australia call to know what happened. She shrugged her shoulders not wanting to spoil this delightful morning with such thoughts. She stood up and headed for the kitchen, meeting grandma searching for something in the refrigerator, "morning grandma" she said, grandma stood up surprised the girl was already up, she was thinking the girl would sleep for half a day due to yesterday's journey. She hugged her, "looking for something?" She asked bending over the refrigerator, "yes there's a cabbage I want to get, you're taller see if you can get it" granny said, Emma bent over and there the cabbage was. Grandma chuckled, Emma went about the house sweeping and cleaning.
After spending quite some time, she returned to the kitchen, grandma already dishing a sumptuous breakfast. Looking at the woman over the counter, she appeared all healthy except for the croaked voice, but dad had said that she was very ill, was this a plan or something she pondered as she sat down on the dining for a sumptuous breakfast with Grandma, 'grandmothers.....' Emma thought.
