Chapter 10 - Important questions

"I have been meaning to ask, what is in that metal box?" questionned Vorl as he pointed toward said box.

It was large box made of a dark alloy, it was so large and heavy that it needed to be transported using a carriage specifically for it, pulled by two bovine looking creatures.

"Oh that? It contains one of the venators worst nightmare, a monster that had to be restrained at the cost of many lives as none could kill it, it's incredibly fast, can tear through armor with ease and is extremely agressive, even without sustainance, it would be an act of madness to attempt to fight it" explained Misot with a wide grin.

"Okay... Then why are we transporting it with us?" he then asked.

"In case your monster is too strong, we open the box" she spoke casually.

"Is this what you people think a safety net is? Because that's the shittiest idea I have ever heard" retorted the masked venator.

"It may be as dumb as rotten roads but it is the most entertaining way to defeat a monster" chimmed in Alaham, speaking nonsense again.

"We are all going to die and it will be deserved, what even is that monster inside?" asked Vorl.

"The leporidae of doom, it was even believed that it was the vessel of one of the princes of hell" spoke Alaham as he remembered the first time he saw this being.

"Wait a second, you brought the wan devil?" he then asked as he realised just what they were reffering to.

"Yeah" responded both of his interlocutors.

"That's absolutely unhinged, it murdered a hero in one hit for the gods sake!" cried the masked venator out but there was nothing he could do to change the mind of the two nutheads that were with him, all he could do was hope that they wouldn't open this damn cage.

"Why did we accept this quest again?" spoke Ramine as she observed her surrounding while standing on a high branch.

"The pay is good" answered Matina.

"Very fucking good, indeed" added Ulmidl with her own personal touch.

"Yes, yes but it doesn't change the fact that the city is deserted now, where are we going to go? It will take some time for the city to grow back to what is was, if it ever does that is" said the high-elf.

"Don't be so pessimistic, towns and city are grazed to the ground every day, we'll find somewhere to settle" uttered Lalanina, trying to cheer her friend up.

After the monster had mowed through the city, all of the survivors had been evacuated and the crown had put a bounty on the monster's head, the group of four girls already knew that the Sun Bearers and that the venators were on the case but they still joined in as the pay was very good, even if all they got were a bit of information, they would receive a nice compensation, the Sun Bearers and venators wouldn't give any information to the crown after all, they did their own things.

The venators hunted down monsters for the sake of hunting down monsters and the Sun Bearers followed in the footsteps of the person their group was named after, so they did things for free and wouldn't give anything to a king who usurped his throne.

"Something's going on a bit to east" suddenly spoke Ramine, prompting the four of them to head in said direction.

"That looks like one of those errant knights" whispered Lalanina as the four of them got sight of a person on a small dirt road.

A knight in an old looking armor with a torn clothes as a cloak, seemed to be approaching something with both caution and a sense of hurriedness, straining their eyes to see what the knight was seeing, they saw that a human arm was sticking out of the vegetation, laying on the ground, the arm seemed to be twitching ever so slightly.

As the knight approached it, the arm stopped twitching and almost immediately a creature appeared from the bushes, grabbing the knight and biting down in his head, causing the sound of both breaking bones and metal to sound out at once, the monster slowly swallowed the whole body, an incredible feat considering how thin it was, clearly, it shouldn't be able to eat something this size.

The monster grabbed the arm that was laying down and raised it to its mouth, revealing that it was nothing more than a severed arm, it swallowed it down and after that, its mouth disappeared revealing a featureless face.

Ramine felt like she had felt its presence before but couldn't pin when exactly.

Many holes suddenly opened on the monsters face that contracted multiple times and the monster turned its head toward the group, a strange action for a monster without eyes but a chilling one.

Instantly, Lalanina reacted to the action and using her head, she found a spell suitable for the situation at hand.

A thin smoke came out of her wand covering the four of them, the monster, which had been on the verge of running toward them, suddenly started sniffing the air again, confused about the abrupt disappearance of the four beings it had smelled.

It walked to where it had last smelled them, it didn't hear anything or smelled them again, it was as if it had been an illusion, the monster being unable to sense anything other than perhaps a bit of strange mana moved on and disappeared into the forest at high speeds.

"By the gods, that was close" let out Matina after a while.

"That must have been the monster in question" spoke Lalanina.

"I think we got some nice information on it, let's leave and never come back" suggested Ramine.

"It's weird" said Ulmidl as she rubbed her chin.

"What is?" asked Matina, surprised at seeing her orc friend thinking deeply about something.

"It had no dick or pussy" responded the orc, Matina sighed, Lalanina sighed, Ramine sighed, everyone sighed, today wasn't the day Ulmidl would make an important observation.

"What? It's important, if it doesn't reproduce by fucking then what does it do?" she said, raising a good point for once.

"Well, it can shapeshift its head, so I wouldn't scratch the possibility that it can pull out a schlong out of nowhere" spoke Matina.

"Let's stop talking about a monster's dick and go, you people are shoving disgusting images in my head!" complained the high-elf.

The group took the opposite direction from that of the monster, Matina was still thinking about Telikoritsi but as she was most likely dead, she put her thoughts away and moved on.
