She hummed a delightful tune with a skip in her step as she walked toward the campus dorm rooms. Her hand seeming rather small as it tried to hold onto the big cup that overflowed with scoops of ice cream, the very reason for her cheery mood.
Soon to be the very reason the melting iced blob of chocolate would decorate the black slacks of a very important seeming man in a suit, hand on his cell phone, he came to an abrupt halt when the girl that seemed little compared to his towering
stature, bumped into him.
She could only let out a woeful gasp in sadness as she watched the whole cup tumble to the floor, the melted bits of the ice cream becoming a splash of art, the brown barely a contrast to the blackness of the cotton. Her heart but broke when she thought of having to return back to the store to get more, considering the infinite que the ice cream parlour had, curtesy to the overheated weather in the city. Therefore, it was just so, she couldn't help the clouding of her eyes
"Damn it" the man could only cuss out, sparing the young woman one last irate look before walking on. She remained with her head looking forlornly toward the ice cream now but a puddle on the ground, guitar case clenched on the other hand.
"Aww, please don't mind him, he has an affinity for being rude I'm afraid, here, you can go buy as much more as your little heart desires" said the man that had been walking with the mean suited up man, feeling quite guilty and pity toward the young woman, for he could see from the side of her face, she was just about to burst into tears.
Holding the notes out to her as a token of apology, he watched her raise her head to look at him, only for the sadness in her eyes to disappear into a look he couldn't decipher. She froze minute her inky pools clashed with his powder blue eyes, an icy colour that was way too familiar, she felt her heart cease for a minute, before she shook her head, for there was no way the fates could be that cruel.
When her gaze landed on the notes in his hand, her face changed again, this time into set determination, she said nothing, turning her head back to look at the man that now stood, still with a phone held up to his ear, near a black sleek car, she marched his way with a sense of purpose. Stopping right in front of him, she didn't care that she had to crane her head back a little in order to look into his pretty grey eyes, she spat, her pointer finger aimed at him,
"A big ol' meanie is what you are" she huffed out before turning back the way she had been headed before the whole fiasco. Not caring to look at either men's expressions. Where one only looked on with amusement and just about ready to burst out laughing at the whole David and Goliath scene, the other man could only remain stunned and quite appalled with his brows furrowed at the figure of the young woman that marched away, who seemed to have had no idea of the chocolate moustache she had, only for more to smudge her cheek.
"What just happened?" he let out a cold chuckle as he asked his little brother, who only laughed and said
"I think you just got told off by a woman in a yellow cute dress" The man could only shake his head off with a clearing of his throat as if to forget about it.
Her yellow dress that exposed her shoulders and landed mid-thigh swished with her fast pace, had she been a giant, the stomping of her feet would have had an impact the same as that of an elephants' stampede, as she stomped on.
"Hey, where've you been? I've been looking for you" came a voice she knew too well, belonging to one guy she thought to be her first real friend she's ever made in her whole life.
"Well, I went to get some ice cream to cheer myself up, since you were too busy being violent to care" she spat, a pout to her lips
"Hey, do go knocking on my football game now, besides, it's not violence you see, just very much needed aggression" he defended, to which she rolled her eyes and said
"Yea, whatever" only to make him look at her in question
"Okay. Someone's acting like the grouch today" he said, gauging her expression, the appalled look on her face was reason he let out a chuckle of amusement
"Don't you dare compare me to that green creature. I'm way too cute for that, and I happen to love Christmas. Anyways, that man There made me drop my ice cream, and he didn't even apologise" not caring that they were both equally at fault, she
complained to her best friend, who turned to look at just who had turned her mood so sour. Only for his face to turn serious, eyes flashing with recognition, a look that she missed when he turned back to her, and warned
"Yea, don't ever associate with the kinds of him, they're bad news, Bel" upon hearing his words, she risked a glance their way, only to notice that the man that had tried to offer her a stack of cash knew the man as they conversed for a few seconds before getting into the car. In that moment she didn't care that they were the owners of it, she thought the car to be really cool in its futuristic glory.
"Don't worry, I wasn't planning to" she said returning her gaze to her friend, all in his sportswear and with a few sweaty patches staining the grey t-shirt he wore.
"How about that ice cream though? I can buy you another one since I'm done with practice for the day" he offered, although her eyes had lit up again at the mention of the cold icy delight, she shook her head anyway
"Never mind, I'm just gonna go" letting out a sigh
"You sure? I'm feeling like cheat day today" he asked with his brows furrowed because it was unlike her to refuse such offers, he taunted
"Okay, ice cream offer going once, twice" and right before he could seal her out of the deal she interrupted him
"Fine, fine" try with all her might to keep from smiling, she failed as her lips twitched more into the expression. Seeing this, her friend himself let out a chuckle
"It really is your kryptonite, isn't it" draping his hand over her shoulder and turning her toward the direction of the ice cream parlour
"I hate that you know my weakness" lightly bumping against him. Laughing he revealed
"Babe, chocolate is every girl's weakness, that ain't state's secret" her lips resting into a smile, she knew that to be true.
The day went by in a breeze after that, only for her to almost forget of the gig she had that night. Having endured the long line again, now better because she had company, they had gone to a diner, in which they further indulged in all unhealthy foods they could cram into their bellies. It was safe to say, should she wake up groaning in pain as her tummy rages on from what she ate, she wouldn't be surprised at all.
Now as light faded into a merge between yellows and oranges and a few streaks of red, it was sunset and soon the sun would be gone and the moon would take charge. She made to get ready then, all showered, she blow dried her hair only to pull it into a neat bun, the champagne strands complying for once, save for a few tendrils that always seemed to refuse to yield, that cutely framed her face.
Not caring for make up for that was never her kind of thing, she settled for the cherry lip gloss that matched the natural colour of her lips and wore pearly studs for earrings. Fiddling with the necklace she's never dared to take off, hanging around her neck, a reminder that shown that she had had parents that loved her to their death, she complemented the gold chain that dangled two dolphins shaped in a ying and yang, with a black dress that cinched at the waist only to flair out until the top of her knees.
The black colour of it made her inky black eyes pop against her olive toned skin. Bella Sinclair was a very beautiful young woman with a dashing smile that hid how tortured her soul was. Having left a dangerous world behind, she'd chosen to forget about it all and start afresh here, as a normal young adult, and she had thought, what would be more normal that actually attending college? Hence she settled to be a music student.
Lucky she was in this sense, for she was saved from having to pursue a career based on just how much money it would come to earn her and if whether her parents would approve, or be stifled by the pressure of picking a good major even if only to survive the world that had prices going up more than raises were given out.
For not only had her deceased parents made sure to make a giant nest egg for her to be more than comfortable with when they're gone, however, her own venturing into the world they had lived in, had turned her responsible hence her own saved up money as well as the monthly income from the good investments she had made.
She found freedom to be quite swell, though her attaining of it wasn't in a way she would have liked, however, there was no use crying over spilt milk and she had made a promise to her parents that she wouldn't live life driven by revenge and hatred, for truly that would be no way of living.
Done with the straps of her heels, she took her purse and cell phone with intent to call a cab right after lock up, only to find that she wouldn't be needing it when she opened her door only to find a figure already before it.
"Deacon, what are you doing here, and all dressed up?" she questioned her friend, perusing his suit clad figure. She could recognise the look on his face as he took her in, and she found that she really didn't like that he liked her like that that, considering that she didn't feel the same as he did, and the whole thing would only end up with him hurt. She truly didn't want to ruin their friendship, for it one she actually cherished, the only relationship she had with anybody since she moved here a year ago, having left everything she had lost behind.
"I realised that we're actually heading to the same place, so I figured I might as well offer you a ride, you are playing at the Lance event right?" with that it seemed she had forgotten that Deacon was from a very wealthy family, the kind most prone to attend such events as the one she was to play at, serve an entertainment for the rich.
Although she could have dug into his past simply to make sure she had nothing to look out for, she was tired of not trusting everyone, being suspicious and living on edge, and so she had decided she would go in blind and form a real sense of relationship that was based on trust and honesty.
"Yea, and let me guess, your parents roped you into attending this one too? " she said, to which he nodes with a sigh
"Sadly, but this time it's better, cause you'll be there" he said with a smile, offering an arm for her to loop her own in, which she did, having no qualms against it.
"So, shall we mademoiselle?" a dramatic lilt to his tone and she let out a giggle with a nod.
