Kobi glanced as Uros's body, covered inside a rag, slowly descended into the pit before the farmers started to fill it up with soil.
Kobi glanced around, the area was filled with graves. Besides him was the young Rio, forced to accompany him by his sister.
As for Reka, she wasn't present, in fact, no women was in sight, only men. Apparently, this was the custom, when the corpse was to be placed in the grave, only men could be present.
As a pile of wet soil, acting as the grave got erected, the men spread their hands out and prayed.
Kobi also chimmed in, he did have a religious side after all! He firmly believed in God!
Yep... that was all!
Afterwards the men started to disperse, only a few close one's remained.
Just as Kobi was about to leave, his eyes fell upon James walking towards Mib.
He bowed his head till it reached his waist and pleaded with eyes squeezed shut, "Uncle! I beg you... please forgive me! I didn't mean it, at all! I didn't want Uros... I didn't want you to loss your son. Please believe me."
Kobi turned out, lifting Rio into his hands despite his whimpering, he couldn't help but shake his head, 'Oi, oi! If you're really going to follow my advice, you could've waited till the morning!'
Kobi's ears perked up.
Mib stepped forward and lifted James head before squeezing him into his chest.
"I'm sorry, my son! I'm sorry! Forgive this fool! Forgive his son! I beg–" His voice muffled for a second, and the last of his words reached the departing Kobi, "I beg you!"
Hearing the muffled cries, A smile blossomed on Kobi's face.
"You... you like it when people cry, don't you? You're a devil, right?" Rio muttered to himself, sadly his face was right next to Kobi's ear.
"You arrogant, spoiled prick!" Kobi smacked his buttocks lightly.
"OWWW!"
"SHUT IT!"
"OWW– ahem!" Rio looked away sheepishly, instantly turning docile. His teary eyes threatening to let loose.
As he walked off into the street, he could see Reka sitting on the wooden fence around the fields.
Seeing him, she jumped off and walked over, seeing Rio in his hands, she couldn't help but smile.
"Take this spoiled brat of yours." Kobi snorted, "Careful, he fell asleep!"
Reka chuckled, the two began to walk off, "What are you going to do next?"
Kobi's eyes widened, almost as if he was waiting for that, "What do you want me to do?"
"I don't know."
Kobi glanced at her, "The Silver Wolves... did they come for me?"
Reka's eyes trembled, "In all reality, they are vengeful! But... they have taken their revenge."Her gaze fell down on the ground, sizing up the shadows projecting under the moonlight, 'We're... almost equal in height, huh?'
"Or have just taken their appetizer." Kobi's eyes flickered.
Reka fell silent, "I don't think it's your scent or mine that is drawing them over. They don't have the memory to remember it for long. If they were coming for us, they would've done so either the next day or the one ahead of it, after you rescued us."
Kobi gazed up at the sky, "Then... I will leave tomorrow."
"Huh!?" Reka's pace suddenly slowed, she gazed at his back with her trembling eyes.
She wanted to stop him, but she couldn't, because... Kobi's blood was spilled during his fight... the wolves could've indeed been tracking it!
Maybe if he stayed here, she could help him fend them off, but, she would put the villagers in danger.
Reka bit her lips, her grip on Rio tightened.
"You're trembling," Kobi gazed at her shadow, "...The night is cold."
Reka glanced at his back, he was unwavering like a mountain, "Too cold... and aloof." Her eyes felt sour, but she forced the unnecessary leakage back.
Kobi pushed the curtain aside, Reka stepped in and placed Rio on the bed.
"You go ahead and sleep next to him; I'm fine on the floor today." Kobi grinned, remembering how he made her sleep on the floor despite the place belonging to her.
Reka chuckled, she wanted to protest but didn't, "Night!"
Kobi grinned cheekily, "Happy nightmares, Maid Girl Reka!"
"Hahaha!"
The night fell silent, Reka laid on the bed and closed her eyes. She waited and waited, but she drift into the world of dreams. Her mind remained fully conscious.
After some hours, she felt the curtain move.
'Somebody moved in?'
No! she knew it was the other way around.
Suddenly, her eyes moistened, 'Why? Why Reka? What's with him? Why is he so... memorable?'
She gritted her teeth, suddenly, she felt a small and tiny hand caress her head.
A childish and innocent voice wafted into her ears, "He's a jerk... but he's still a lolicon. Don't worry... he is probably scheming of how to kidnap me, just keep your eyes peeled and you will see him wandering in the village again."
Her eyes glistened before welling up. Her hand reached out and engulfed her brother into her embrace, "Hmm! That jerk... I hope he meets a dragon in the forest... and rushes back."
. . .
Meanwhile, Kob,i who was striding through the pitch-black forest which made him feel as if he had lost his vision with his hands behind his back, sneezed.
Kobi rubbed his nose, "Which pest is remembering this high and mighty Saint?"
Suddenly, Kobi's ears pricked up, 'A Kombop? This is bad, I can't see in this darkn–'
Kobi's thoughts froze in their tracks, "Uhhh! I am sooo sightless, I swear I can't see a thing! much less any Kombop's glistening red eyes. My hearing is sooo veryyyy bad as well!" Kobi nodded pitifully as if affirming his guess, "I hope if any Kombop comes near me, he lets me pass by without harming me!"
Kobi bit his lips seeing the glowing red eyes, all too visible in this dark area, turn into crescents, 'SCUM! LAUGHING AT ME!? COME, THIS DADDY WILL SHOW YOU THE ROPES OF ARROGANCE!'
"AAA!" Kobi's nose twitched, as if he would sneeze again, his tongue rolled around gathering his saliva. Once he felt he had piled enough spit, he let loose all the jet, "AAACHOOOOO!"
Kobi massaged his nose, "Uf! I hope my spit allows these disgusting plants to breathe again!" Kobi sighed, "I am just too divine!"
Kobi sniffed and started walking, his eyes peeking at one of the eyes blinking non-step like something hit it.
The other red eye flared up and the Kombop crawled down the tree swiftly, making sure not to produce any sound.
As it drew near, a gold spear materialized in his hand and he hurled it towards the Kombop. The other eye vanished swiftly.
"Oopsie! Guess whose hand slipped? It's mee!" Kobi chuckled and spread his hands wide before grabbing machetes with both hands and rushing towards the spear glittering subtly.
Without hesitation, he chopped down fiercely with both machetes, causing a shrill scream to rush out of the Kombop's mouth.
Suddenly, the Hp bar materialized and burst into pieces, 'SHITTY SYSTEM! COULDN'T YOU HAVE MADE THIS APPEAR SOONER? IT COULD'VE HELPED WITH MY VISIBILITY!'
"Ahem! Sorry, was asleep." Shik clasped his hands over his head– not visible to Kobi.
'Huh? You? asleep?' Kobi stored the corpse in his inventory and gulped down a piece of its flesh.
[Congratulations! You've gained 1 speed stat!]
Kobi grinned.
"Uh? Not exactly." Shik shook his head.
"Hmm!?" Kobi gazed forward, trying to glancing at Shik! And totally not ending up staring at his back.
"Ahem! Turn around!" Shik chuckled.
Kobi coughed dryly and glanced at Shik, 'Why do I feel as if something's sus?'
"... Don't look at me like that, I totally wasn't asking permission to see your memories." Shik blinked his eyes innocently, before blurting out, «
"O shit!"
'YOU BITCH!'
"Calm down, calm down, I didn't receive permission."
Kobi breathed easy.
"For now."
'FUCK YOU!'
Kobi shook his head and began to walk, suddenly, he felt his head collide with something, "Ow!"
He raised his hand and felt what it was, 'This is... a tree?'
'Oi system!!'
"..."
'Useless garbage!' Kobi shook his head and began to walk again.
The paved road was straight, so how did he collide with a tree!? This didn't make sense.
Suddenly, his feet collided with something and he tripped.
"The fuck!?" Kobi questioned his sense of direction.
'Can't I even walk straight now?' Shaking his head, he continued.
But soon, he tripped again.
'...Don't huniliate me like this, stupid ground.' Kobi felt sweat trickle down his forehead despite the night being abnormally cold. 'Don't tell me I stepped into the forest?'
'System!?'
"..."
'Tch!' Kobi gritted his teeth and kept walking. He collided countless times and tripped even more, "Oh God, this punishment is too much for me! I swear to repent and become a monk! Just let me off the hook!"
Despite his words being nothing but crap, his spine did start to tingle from all this. He felt as if he shouldn't have had been so rash, he should've waited the night to pass.
But regret was not his style.
Suddenly, his feet, which he made to skid against the ground in order to feel for any stupid vines waiting for him to trip on them, felt as if the ground was getting higher.
'Is this entering into an elevated zone?' Kobi frowned and tried to move away in a hurry, but his feet collided and he collapsed face-first.
'Can I cry? Nobody's watching, right?' Kobi sneakily glanced around but decided to hold off his plans.
Gritting his teeth, he walked further into the elevated zone.
He couldn't help but feel as if the ground was getting smoother too. Even the place began to light up a bit and started to get a bit warm.
'Where is–' Kobi's words remained glued to his throat as he saw the golden bar, which hadn't made an appetance for a long while, appeared in front of him.
"O! dungeon? You entered a dungeon!? Nice guts! Nice, nice! Finally some action." Shik popped up in front of him and looked around like an excited puppy.
Kobi could very vaguely spot him.
"Fuck you, you useless piece of donkey dung!"
