Chapter 3 - Could anything worse happen (Edited)

Luckily, nobody was home yet, so she ran to her room and locked the door, and indulged in what she called peaceful slumber. Well, that was cut short by noon when someone banged on her door. Now what?

She got up and opened the door to see her father grinning. Her brain kept sending her danger signals and she fought hard to prevent them from getting out of control. Back to the man at the door. Something was seriously not right, this man never grinned at her in fact, never smiled or glanced her way and there was something off about this grin, it smelt of sincerity, sincerity! What had she ever done in this world that pleased this man before her?

"My dear daughter?" Yep, that was the last sign that indicated real danger.

"Yes," she answered warily her eyes narrowing slightly.

"Come on, have lunch with us, your mother and I have good news for you."

What mother, she almost vomited blood, and what good news, at this point of her life the only good news was going to be her death and her direct ticket to heaven. Nevertheless, she closed the door behind her and followed the man to the dining room, and what the…

There sitting majestically on the dining table with her step-sister was the guy who had dumped her this morning. Maybe the good news was going to be his execution, oh God she wished. She sat opposite the creature she called sister and after glaring at them she started eating immediately. Well, it wasn't like she was ever planning to be courteous but funnily today her habits didn't affect anyone at the table.

This was more suspicious. "My dear daughter," her father started and she wanted to throw the fork in her hand at his face. She looked up to meet his annoying look. "My dear daughter, today my project got accepted by the Rooney Corporation." Rooney Corporation? Wait, isn't that what the weirdo at the mall spoke about? "They have agreed to be my partners in that project with only one condition…" Amandla continue chewing her food, why did that even concern her and since when did he start explaining his pathetic business to her? Wasn't Amber supposed to be the heir to all his business? "With the condition that one of my daughters gets married to their first son and I have specifically chosen you…" Amandla spat out the food in her mouth right in the middle of the table.

"What?" her body jerked up. "Y-you sold me?" she asked.

Her father's smile faltered. "You will get married to him. I am only trying to help you get your sick face out of my house." The way he looked at her in disgust as if she was some disease... her heart ached faintly.

"I can go live in the streets…"

Her father shot up from his seat. "You're getting married to him and that is final." He left the room and before anyone could speak, Amy shot to her room.

She jumped on her bed and lay still, what was this a soap opera? She had just broken up with a guy who had proposed to her sister the same day, went to the mall and knocked off a stranger, and came back home only to realize she had been sold off to perhaps the same man. No, she wasn't going to allow this man to dictate her life. She was going to live by her own rules.

Besides, it wasn't as if they lived in the eighteenth century where she could be married off without her consent. As if she had spoken out loud, her door opened and the man she loathed came in.

"You will get married the day after tomorrow." He turned as if to leave but stopped at the door. "One more thing, don't even think about running away, wherever you'll hide, he is powerful enough to dig you out even out of the depths of hell." He walked out and slammed the door shut. Her new hopes of escaping came crumbling down to dust, just like her damn life.

Amandla cursed him in all the languages she knew. And to think about it, why had he chosen her? If the Williams were well off, why had she chosen her and not their 'precious well-mannered b*tch'? Something just didn't add up, there was just this strong feeling warning her in her gut. She laughed at herself and gripped the pillow hard. Why would it even add up, if a man was being arranged to get married shouldn't there be something wrong with him, why wouldn't ladies throw themselves at him, he was rich and successful and certainly good-looking. Though maybe it shouldn't be surprising to her if the man was the devil, she had met...

No, it was useless to think about that at the moment. She sat up, if she couldn't escape, she would make his life hell and those who used her, yes, if she went down, she would go with all of them. With that resolve, a wicked smile made its way to her face. She would make sure that that man she was supposed to call father preferred to have ejaculated on the wall.
