I was left alone to think about why Keenan seemed so familiar. I knew he looked like the guy who used to appear in my dreams at the initial stage of my problems but now it's not just a feeling. It's getting worst as the day goes by. Now that I thought of it, his voice, his voice sounded familiar too. I hated what was going on in my mind but there was nothing I could do about it since he denied knowing me or ever meeting me. I had to brush the thought off and concentrate on the test of the day since I couldn't afford to fail. I knew it would be a big blow to my parents if they found out I didn't perform well in just a simple test which was also my first test in Winchester High. My parents always thought of our family's name first even before thinking about my well being all in the name of some family history. I wasn't ready to disappoint them and myself so I had to get ready to do well in the test. I turned my concentration back to my book in order to refresh my brain before the siren churned.
As if sensing my thoughts, the siren soon churned causing a fuss. We had to do away with our books, bags, phones and other things that would tempt us to go in for any malpractices. Keenan walked in after three minutes since the siren went on to settle down. Mr Gupta personally came in after a while to distribute the within booklets to us. As my normal ritual, I remained still even after we were asked us to start work. After reading through the questions, I realized it was too cheap to be called a test and without wasting another minute on it, I started writing. I stole short glances at Keenan to see how he was doing and he seemed very fine.
I didn't know why I cared about him so much but I didn't think it was a bad thing either. Very soon, we were asked to stop work and our booklets were collected. Immediately after our papers were collected, Keenan took his bag to leave.
"Are you going somewhere?", I asked stopping him for a while. The others joined us and stared at Keenan whose bag was hanging over his shoulder.
"Where is he going in such a hurry?", Ryan asked without getting an answer from me.
"I have something I need to take care of so I'd leave first. See you guys tomorrow ", he said and left without waiting for any response.
"Did you guys fight?", Jennie asked me. Then I thought maybe because of the question I asked him earlier.
"No. I just asked him if we had met before because he looked familiar ", I answered sincerely feeling down.
"There's something going on with him which is not about the question you asked. Besides it's not offensive to ask such a question", Ryan said tapping my shoulders.
"I'd check up on him", Ryder said but Ryan stopped him.
"I don't think that would be a good idea, let's just leave him for now", Ryan told him making him sigh.
"Let's get going then since we have nothing doing ", Jennie said making us nod in agreement.
"Wait…", I said when they were heading towards the door. "Urhm Jennie, u can take the lead, I have something to discuss with Ryan ", I continued gaining a look from him. I handed over the car keys to her so she could drive to the house.
"With Ryan? Well, I can wait for you then we go together", she said not willing to leave me behind.
"Stop being clingy and let's get going", Ryder said and dragged her out of the class. Both of them were just funny and perfect for each other.
"What is it you wanted to talk about?", Ryan finally asked after they had left.
"Nothing serious, can we go to your house?"
"My house?", he asked shocked. "I mean…why not", he said and headed out making me follow him closely behind . As the gentleman he was, he opened the door for me to enter before moving to the driver's seat himself. The drive was so silent till he decided to break the awkward silence.
"Why do you look so worried?", he asked making me turn my attention to him.
"I look worried?", I asked not so sure of what my expression gave off this time.
"Yeah. Very…", he started coughing before he could complete his statement.
"Are you okay? Should we go to the hospital ", I couldn't stop myself from asking those questions since I had witnessed it before. It was the same way it started the other day before he passed out.
"Hey. Take a chill pill. I'm very fine", he said with a smile but I knew behind that smile was a hidden emotion. He was in pain but he was trying to hide it.
"Let me drive", I could possible not get worried and it was killing me.
"I said I'm fine, there's nothing to worry about", he was a acting stubborn and I had to act more stubborn if I wanted to help him out.
"I don't want to drive because I think you are not well, I just thought I wanted to try driving your little baby since I haven't done it before", I had to lie.
"Silly me. I was thinking you were still worried about me", he said stopping the car.
'I guess I succeeded', I thought . We exchanged seats and I drove to his little mansion. I parked the car in the garage before turning off the engine.
He walked me in after and offered me seat before going to get me an orange juice from the fridge.
"Welcome to my house", he said sitting beside me in the sofa.
"Well thanks", I answered with a smile.
"Let me change and get back to you please", he said getting up.
"Sure".
