I got out of the bathroom after calming my brains. It was then I felt hunger knocking on the doors of my stomach and I had to answer that. I hurried downstairs in my oversized hoodie and a short jeans. I love wearing hoodies because I felt confident and free in it. Without wasting much time in the room, I dashed out towards the dining table to satisfy my rumbling tummy. The aroma of the food alone was enough to make one full but I had to taste it myself.
I walked straight to have my seat while waiting for Ana to serve me.
"I thought you weren't coming down to eat since you kept so long in the room", Jennie said but I wasn't ready to have any talk with her, not until I was done filling my tummy.
"Ana. I'm hungry", I told Ana ignoring my annoying friend's comment.
"Just a minute, princess", she said and walked to dish out my food for me. There was no time to waste anymore. I took my fork and dug into the assorted jollof prepared by the almighty Ana. I ate to my satisfaction while Jennie kept staring at me. It seemed something was off about I was behaving from the way they stared at me and I could tell too. I was eating too fast probably because there was something on my mind or there was something I wanted to avoid. I shove the thought off and walked back into my room after finishing the full plate I was served.
"Ash. What's on your mind?", Jennie asked when she followed me to the room. I sincerely didn't have any answer to the question she asked because I was also trying hard to understand my thoughts but I couldn't.
"Nothing", I simply said getting a confused look from her.
"What do you mean by nothing? You have been behaving weirdly since you came back from school. You even finished the whole plate which is unlike you", she fired me with her plenty talks.
"I finished the food because I was very hungry. Is there a problem with that?", I asked trying my best to get her upset so she wouldn't continue asking me anything.
"And your weird behavior?", she asked expecting me to answer that.
"Well, I don't know how weird you think I'm behaving but I'm totally fine, trust me", I said trying to convince her.
"If you say so", she finally gave up and lied on the bed with me staring at the ceiling.
"Urhm Ash.", she called out my name again.
'I thought she had given up, why is she calling my name again?', I thought to myself.
"Yeah", I answered before she could complain again.
"About Ryan's condition. What are we going to do about it?", she finally asked a more sensible question. The fact that I wasn't talking about it didn't mean I had forgotten about it too. I was just waiting for the right time even though time was not on our side.
"Ryan? Leave him to me", I said determined to make him change his mind.
"Huh?", she asked with wide eyes.
"I mean, I'd talk to him about that later", I said making some sense.
"Ooo okay", she said making me sigh unknowingly.
"Tomorrow is another brand new day, let's get some rest now. Goodnight ", I told her.
"Yeah. Good night", she said and with that we tucked ourselves under the blanket
