We walked out of the class immediately class was over and sat quietly in my car waiting for Ryder to come and drive out of campus. After a while of waiting, the three guys came out together and chatted a bit before departing in their various cars. We drove behind Ryder without being noticed till he stopped in front of a restaurant. I parked some distance away from his and waited for him to come out of the car but he stayed in.
" Have we been caught?", I asked Jennie whose gaze was on Ryder's car.
"Maybe, let's just go home", she responded but I wasn't ready to give up.
"Stay in the car, I'd be back ", I told her and tried to open the door but she held my skirt.
"You are going nowhere without me Ash", she sounded like Ana.
"Then shall we go together ", I asked and she left my skirt. We stepped out of the car and walked straight towards Ryder's car. He stepped out of his car to meet us making us stop moving forward.
"How may I help you both?", he asked us with a crossed arm leaning on his car.
"Just wanted to talk", I simply said looking all tough.
"Why don't you stay away from me?"
"We will ,but after you explain to us why you apologized to Jennie before hitting"
"Because she looks innocent ", he said and I turned to look at Jennie who was standing quiet behind me.
"Then why did you have to slap her if she looked innocent?", I wanted to find out whatever was wrong with that guy.
"It was better for me to do it than them"
"But…"
""Or do you prefer me leaving her to them?", he asked twitching his mouth a little.I walked closer to him closing the gap between us because I didn't want Jennie to hear what I was about to say.
"Do you like her", I asked him after closing the gap.
"I don't think it would be good for both of you to be seen with me", he said and entered his car ." Please keep this in mind, if you want to tail someone, don't use your car", he said and drove off.
"He caught us", Jennie said after he had drove away.
"That what it seems like ", I replied as we made our way back to my car.
"What did you whisper to him?", I think she's now curious about what I did.
"Nothing, just wanted to check if I could feel his heartbeat ", I lied but I didn't know my lie would work put.
"Did you feel it?", she asked looking so curious. She actually believed it.
"I couldn't ", I said and got into the car. "Let's hurry back home before Ana starts to worry.
"Don't forget we have different homes so there's no one to worry too much about me"
"How about I take you to my house today ?", I suggested.
"No please, I can't face your mum", she was actually declining now. I thought she was okay with my mum's profession.
"Stop being silly, she's not around, she went back to work after meeting with Mr Gupta", I told her and she released a deep breath I don't know she was holding.
"Okay then", she finally accepted and I drove straight to my quiet house.
"We are here", I said to her when we got out from the car.
She stared at me and then focused on my surroundings as if she had seen some ghost.
"Let's go in Jennie"
"Is this really your house?", was she even listening to what I was saying?
"Jennie!", I shouted her name before realizing she was lost ." Let's go in first then I'd show you around later", I said and she nodded.
I held her by the wrist and dragged her in since she was hesitant to walk in.
"Ana, I'm home", I called her and she came out of the kitchen. I didn't know what she always did in the kitchen because whenever you call her, that's where she comes out from.
She came out with a smile and hugged me as her way of welcome.
"You are welcome miss", she said to Jennie.
"Thanks ma'am, sorry aunt", she was confused again.
"You can just call me Ana", she said giving her a smile. She simply nodded and before I asked her to sit. I introduced her to Ana and told her she'd be spending the night with us. Jennie looked very happy after we had supper and we walked up to my room.
"Is this room only for you?", she asked after fighting her curiosity for so long.
"Yes please, but I'm going to share it with you today", I said to her and she smile.
We had shower separately and laid on my bed chitchatting before drifting to sleep.
