Noises from my surroundings woke me up from my sleep which seemed like eternity. I tried to open my eyes but the light was too much that I had to blink several times to adjust to it.
"Doctor, she has regained consciousness ",a female voice spoke.
That was when I surveyed the room and finally found out I was in a hospital. But the last thing I remember was something I never want to talk about.
Just then, the door opened and a male figure entered the room in a white gown, I presume he was the doctor. Immediately he walked closer towards me, that horrible nightmare flashed back to me.
"No , don't come close to me, please don't hurt me, please ….", I began screaming.
I wrapped my arms around my knees as I stared around. I saw a nurse carrying a tray with some drugs and bandages.
"Please nurse, save me from this man. He's going to hurt me", I said to the nurse while pointing at who they called doctor.
"Don't worry darling, he would be out soon, he just came to check up on you because he's your doctor", the nurse replied calmly but I still didn't want to see him.
He went out of the room leaving the nurse and I in the room. Immediately, the nurse placed the tray on the table and sat on the edge of the bed. I jumped into her embrace and sobbed on her shoulders. She began rubbing my back to comfort me.
"Calm down, he won't hurt you, he's here to help you", she continues talking softly but all I did was shake my head in disapproval.
"No, he would hurt me, he's a bad person "
"Just relax, your parents are on their way coming to see you"
I jumped out of her embrace surprised of myself, I haven't thought of my parents yet.
"Are they coming, are they okay, have they been well? Tell them to wat h out for the bad guy", I spoke nonstop.
"Yeah, they are fine"
"How long have I been here?", it kicked me
"Three months", she replied
"Three what?", I asked surprised
"I'm sorry but that's all I can tell you", she said and stood up to leave but I wasn't done with my questions
"How did I get here?", I asked," please tell me", I quickly added when I saw her being hesitant to tell me.
"All I can tell you is that, you were brought here but the army ambulance soaked in ….", she paused mid sentence when there was a knock on the door. " I think your parents have arrived" , she said and without waiting anymore she left me.
The door opened and a woman in a military uniform came in. I just look at her as if she was some stranger till she spoke.
"Ash baby, are you feeling better?", mum asked worriedly walking closer to the bed.
"Mum is that really you?," I asked as tears threatened to fall of my eyes.
She wrapped her arms around me and pulled me in for a hugged. I didn't want to leg go of the moment, because I really missed being in her arms. The only time I remember being in her arms was when I was celebrating my ten years birthday. As I was enjoying that sweet moment with mum, the door opened. A man in blue suit came to view. Mum then released me from the hug and stood up. She looked at me while I was busily staring at the man.
"Andrew, you are here", mum said to the man breaking the silence.
Just as the man was about to move towards me, I began screaming.
" No, stay away from us, mum don't go close to him he would hurt you".
The man stood there in awe looking at me as if I was a psycho.
"Ash, that's your dad" , mum said to me
"No, he's a bad person, just stay away from him"
"But Ash, he's ...",she was interrupted by the opening of the door.
"Mr and Mrs Hart, please come with me to the doctor's office", the lady spoke and just left.
"I am not letting my mum go with this man, he must be arrested ", I spoke determined.
The man left the room after I finished my speech and mum decided to follow
"Mum where are you going?", I asked worried
"I am going to make sure that man is arrested", she said and left without waiting to hear any comments. I was left all alone.
In the doctor's office***
"Please have a seat", the doctor said to the couple
"Please can u explain to us why she is behaving like that?"Mr Hart spoke first still surprised his daughter couldn't recognize him.
"Please calm down, she would be okay with some time it….."
"When will she be okay" Mrs Hart cut in.
"But why did she behave like that with her dad and not me?" She questioned still not understanding what was going on with her daughter.
"That was because she was raped by a male not a female", the doctor replied calmly.
"Does that mean she reacted towards you the same way?", Mr Hart asked .
"Exactly, she would have to stay with you a while before knowing u won't harm her cos you are her dad"
"But his job…..", Mrs Hart tried to complain but she was stopped mid sentence
"I have to do whatever it takes to bring my daughter back", He spoke determined.
"I'd make sure to who ever caused my darling this pain would pay for it", she said angrily " can she be discharged?", she asked.
"I'm working on her discharge documents so she can be discharged immediately ", the doctor said.
"Thank you doctor ", Mr Hart said gratefully and left the office with his wife.
Back in the room***
I was sleeping soundly when I heard the door open. I woke up to find mum standing by the door with a smile. I knew her smile had some hidden emotions but I couldn't tell what it was so I just ignored it.
"Why are you standing there mum, come inside",I called out to her
"I'm coming darling", she said walking closer to me.
"When can I go home, this place sucks?",I questioned her
"Very soon dear, the doctor is working on your discharge documents ",
"And that man, where is he?",
"He's with the police receiving the punishment he deserves ",mum replied
"Really?,I asked with her smile
"Don't you trust mummy anymore?, she asked with a frown
"I love you mum"
"I love you too hunnie", the said and pulled me in for a hug.
I don't remember when last I was able to be in her arms for such a long time. We remain like that till someone came in. I really didn't want the day to end. A nurse came in and handed over some documents to mum.
"She can go home now", she politely said. She waved me and I waved back saying goodbye.
Mum helped me out of bed and I got dressed in my new clothes. We went out of the hospital without looking back.
