Krista's POV:
Hearing this, I couldn't care less about my doubts about the Dark Blood Pack. I grabbed that person and asked, "Is what you said true? Did Serena really do that? What about my father... No, the former Alpha? Does he agree with Serena's way of doing things?"
"The former Alpha? Didn't they say that the former Alpha was sick and dying? It happened a long time ago," the man said. "Don't you read the news?"
With a pang, I felt like my brain was going to explode. Due to my guilt toward my father, I had closed myself off, not paying attention to news about the Alpha or reading news about my father, so I didn't even know that my father was seriously ill... My father was so strong and healthy. How could he suddenly fall sick? No, I had to go back and see him.
Three days later, I was finally discharged.
Taking advantage of the night, I carried my child and quietly headed home. I heard that my father had moved into a small house in the backyard to recuperate, which made it convenient for me to sneak in.
I climbed over the fence and landed on the ground lightly, avoiding the patrolling guards. I stuck to the wall and moved step by step toward the small building. As I reached the small building, the lights around me suddenly turned on. I raised my hand to block them.
"My dear sister, long time no see... I've been looking for you so hard..." Serena's voice rang out before me.
I put down my hand and looked at Serena, standing not far away against the intense light. She wore a golden battle robe exclusive to Alpha, and her makeup was beautiful. She looked at me with ridicule and disdain.
"Where's Dad? I'm here to see Dad." I didn't show it on my face, but I secretly clenched my fists. I didn't know why, but I sensed danger. It was as if I would die if I were the slightest bit careless.
"What a coincidence! Dad just happened to be out." Serena took a step forward and reached her hand out to me. "Krista, do you want to come in with me?"
My gaze swept past Serena's fingers. She was wearing many gorgeous rings. Father had always been thrifty and did not allow us to be extravagant and wasteful. However, Serena... Not only that, the guards in the house were all unfamiliar faces...
"Serena, I want you to swear to the Moon Goddess that Dad is safe," I shouted.
"My dear sister, you're still so innocent." Serena retracted her hand and smiled as she dusted off the non-existent dust on her cloak." But, since you're not cooperating, don't blame me for using force." As she said that, she raised her hand to the guards behind her, and they immediately got into an attacking stance.
As if facing a great enemy, I reflexively protected my child behind me. It was this action that attracted Serena's attention. She looked at the swaddling clothes I was carrying on my back. My son seemed to have sensed malicious intent. He, who had been sleeping quietly, suddenly burst into tears.
Serena heard the baby's cries and smiled meaningfully. "I see. I wondered why Dad would suddenly investigate the past... So that night, not only did you lose your virginity, you even got pregnant with a b*stard child..."
"What? What do you mean?" I looked up at Serena. "You arranged for what happened that night, didn't you? So you're trying to harm me?"
"If you want to blame someone, blame your stupidity." Serena was not afraid of her crimes being exposed. She said arrogantly, "Back then, the person I arranged for said that you didn't enter the originally planned room. So I thought my plan had failed. Who knew that you climbed into a wild man's bed and bore his b*stard child... Haha, the Moon Goddess favors me!"
Upon hearing Serena's words, I clenched my fists tightly. I could only feel my anger boiling, burning every inch of my flesh. How dare she... How dare she do this?!
"What about Dad? What did you do to him?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"Krista, you're filial. You can't even protect yourself, yet you're still concerned about Dad's life and death. At least Dad didn't dote on you for nothing... "Serena smiled and waved her hand. The guard received the signal and turned around to enter the small building. After a while, the sound of a wheelchair rolling could be heard.
My once tall and strong father was now sitting in a wheelchair, his limbs weak. His hair was white, and his eyes were cloudy.
"No, Dad! Serena, you'll die a horrible death!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. "The Moon Goddess will not let you off!"
My shout seemed to have woken my father up. He turned his head stiffly. Then, after seeing my face, he shouted, "Ah! Ah! Ah!" as if he was telling me to run and escape.
"Oh my, what a deep father-daughter relationship." Serena walked up to our father. Looking at our father's twisted face, she smiled and said, "My dear father, don't you favor Krista the most? Look, Krista is here to see you! Aren't you happy? She also brought your grandson, a little fellow crying extremely loudly."
