Chapter 15 - Revenge

Tang Shu was not afraid of exposing her identity at all.

She had read this novel in its entirety. She had a clear understanding of Tang Shu's experience, personality, and perspective. Even if Tang Shun suspected her, he would not find any substantial evidence.

There was no proof. According to Tang Shun's indecision, he would persuade himself to compromise while wavering. He would subconsciously believe the most precious sister in his heart.

As expected, when Tang Shun saw this familiar face smiling at him as innocently as when he was young and calling him brother sweetly, most of the suspicion in his heart had unconsciously dissipated.

In the depths of his heart, guilt had always occupied the peak of his feelings for Tang Shu.

He could not forgive himself for what he had done to her. The guilt and remorse drove him more to believe that his sister had changed only out of self-preservation rather than the truth he was vaguely aware of.

He was running away from that truth because that would mean that his sister knew exactly what he had done. He could not even imagine how she would feel about facing the brother who had hurt her when she found out what had become of him.

Would she still smile at him?

Perhaps she would never want to see him again and would do everything in her power to escape this house.

Her smile was so sincere as if she had trusted him from the bottom of her heart, relied on him, and treated him as her pillar.

Her strange behavior stemmed from a long period of bullying and oppression. She was trying to protect herself.

Perhaps she had just learned these self-defense moves somewhere and then stimulated her potential in a hurry?

Although this reason would seem far-fetched to an outsider, it was the result that Tang Shun was most willing to accept.

He was selfish, weak, and could not take on any major responsibilities. The only thing he wanted to do in this life was to protect his sister and be safe and happy for the rest of her life.

Tang Shun lowered his head and looked at his sorry figure. He said dejectedly, "It's all my fault for being useless and needing your protection. Don't worry, it won't happen again. I'll try my best to be a powerful brother so that you can rely on me in peace."

Tang Shu fell silent. The series of excuses she had thought of was useless.

It seemed that Tang Shun was even more incompetent than she had imagined. A man living such a cowardly life did not even dare to ask for the truth. Even if he had doubts in his heart, he did not dare to delve deeper. He was only afraid that he could not bear the consequences of facing the truth.

How much could such a man's promise be trusted? Tang Shu did not know, and she did not care about his promise.

She had always done things her own way and carried out the most secret and bloody missions in the darkest places. She would long since get used to being on her own. No one but her nemesis at the agency could really walk into her line of sight and get her attention.

However, the fact that Tang Shun could think like this saved her a lot of trouble. She was not a talkative person to begin with. If he made her laugh like that and call a man brother like that, she would really feel a little nauseous.

Tang Shu nodded slightly as an answer to him. She supported him again and called a taxi to go straight to the hospital.

The twenty or so people here had waited for them to leave, thinking that they could finally escape.

Zhu Lin scrambled to his feet, fumbling in his pocket for a cigarette. Before he could find a lighter and light it, a shadow fell over his head.

He narrowed his eyes and looked at the man in a suit with an extremely good face. He sneered and said, "Where did this pretty boy come from? I'm in a bad mood now. Get lost. Don't make me beat you up."

The man raised his eyelids lazily and glanced at them. "If you dare to attack Tang Shu again, I'll cut off your hands."

He said it casually, and his voice was extremely deep and pleasant. However, such fierce words came out of the mouth of a beautiful man without any deterrence.

Laughing sarcastically, Zhu Lin rose. "You?"

As if they had heard a joke, the surrounding lackeys also came up to size him up with malicious and mocking gazes. If it were anyone else, they would probably instantly lose their imposing manner and have nowhere to hide.

However, this man was clearly not like others. He completely ignored the surrounding gazes that were sizing him up. He only looked at Zhu Lin lazily as if he was not looking at anything. His eyes were supercilious. "Understood."

Unhurriedly, he removed the watch from his wrist and slipped it into his pocket.

When Zhu Lin and the others saw his stance, they could not help but laugh. "You're a gentle and pretty boy like a weak scholar. Do you still want to fight?"
