That night Rowan was haunted by nightmares where Sloane found Mila before he did. Sloane killed Mila before his eyes.
Rowan got up from bed and tried to shake the terror from his heart. Mila had to be alive. He called Sloane.
“Rowan?” Sloane purred.
“Where are you?” Rowan asked.
He heard her voice hitch and put his phone on speaker.
“Where are you?” Rowan growled as he texted Josiah to find Sloane immediately and return her to the Alpha’s House.
As soon as Rowan got an affirmative from Josiah, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He didn’t trust Sloane and never had. She was the kind of girl his dad had been right about.
He remembered finding Sloane broken and weeping. A mocking laugh escaped Rowan’s lips. Right, Sloane was broken.
If anyone in the pack saw him now, they would inch away from him in fear. The sneer on Rowan’s face lacked any sympathy.
