Mila took a deep breath and then answered the phone. “Isla, you’re on speaker, but I’m alone in the bathroom.”
Isla made a sound between a choke and a shout.
“Are you hiding from Landon?” Isla asked.
Mila frowned. Isla seemed tense. Landon wasn’t a monster. She just wanted to be alone.
“Ugh, wifey, no. Well, not really. He asked me out. And I don’t know how I feel about it.”
On a whim, Mila added her favourite bubble bath to the tub. She looked at herself in the mirror and washed her face. A glance at her phone confirmed Isla was still connected.
“Did he ask you out randomly?”
Mila rinsed her face off and patted it dry with a towel. “I want to say yes, but he has been hinting since you left.”
“And you didn’t think to tell me?”
“Babe, I just figured it out now. He’s been talking about this girl who he likes at work. I thought I had a lot of similarities with her, but that’s it.”
Isla giggled. “You sweet little thing. What did he do?”
