The irony was ridiculous… Mila tried to pretend that it didn’t matter. It wasn’t a big deal.
“I can’t believe that the Almighty Alpha actually waited for his mate at one point,” Mila mused. “Kinda seems like a wasted effort. But, thanks for helping my future hubby to build me my very own tree house.”
Rowan took a deep breath. “I guess I should be grateful that we aren’t together,” he replied coolly. He probably would have regretted bringing her here with her attitude.
Mila laughed. Her whole life was a joke. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
The more she thought about it, the sadder the situation was, and she could no longer contain her tears as they poured down her cheeks.
Her sobs shook her body. Rowan froze. She was just laughing a minute ago.
Her quick change in attitude reminded Rowan that by no means could or should he get close to this woman. He had no idea what she would or could do.
