As Josiah outlined a plan that covered all the gaps in the current security, his mind drifted to Mila. The thought of her getting caught up in the rogue skirmishes made him uneasy.
Rowan caught Josiah’s grimace. “What?”
Josiah smiled sheepishly. “I’m extremely worried that Mila will find herself near one of these rogue attacks. You know how Sloane likes to prove her dominance.”
Rowan frowned. “Are you saying my mate will endanger your mate?”
Josiah steadily looked at his best friend from childhood. “No. I have no idea what Mila is capable of in a fight. I am concerned about her safety.”
Rowan nodded. “Make sure she is ready to start work with Sloane tomorrow.”
Josiah nodded. “I’ll bring Mila through for breakfast tomorrow morning.”

The next morning, Mila woke up and found a note from Josiah letting her know that he wasn’t sure what time she would wake up, so he hadn’t prepared breakfast for her.
