Chapter 13 - BONUS

Akemi stiffly sat on the chair, her posture subtly leaning in as she tried to listen attentively to Naru's words. The man sitting quite calmly on his chair with his back straightened and reading the folder in his hand.

Akemi noticed quite often how Naru would have either— a certain folder or book by his hand every time she glanced. At this point, she found it quite cute. Smart people were always up to her standards.

Today was the first week that Akemi joined the Psychic Research, so far Naru conducted dozens of experiments concerning his theories and ideas at Akemi's predicament and special ability.

"So... I'm leaking spiritual energy?" Akemi muttered after a while, Naru's words echoing on her head. However, like every patient, all Akemi could think of is what could that all mean?

This was what Naru wished to speak to her when he asked her to visit the Office on the School Haunted Building case. In some way, they managed to get abnormal readings concerning the energy around her and noted that it was coming from her,

That was the first Akemi had ever heard of it, and in some way— she was very worried.

"According to the readings we've conducted, it is rather large and a rare occurrence." Naru said, his eyes focused on the papers in his hand, flipping to the next page. "-You're body has their own kind of wavelength that could match paranormal readings, it's just a theory but you said that all of these abilities of yours started the moment of accident?"

Akemi hummed, for once unsure. "...it might be longer than that? I always did see peculiar things as a child..."

Naru was quiet, his eyes lifted to gaze on hers. "What does this mean for me, Naru?" Akemi asked, his stare soon cut off as he let out a slight shrug, his head tilting slightly on the side before straightening back to look at her.

"I don't know," Akemi never saw him that carefree. She sweat-dropped. " -but I'm planning to find out. We'll do another set of practices tomorrow, if you can come early."

Akemi let out a crooked smile that turned to bountiful giggles, 'as expected of Naru...but why do I feel some sense of foreboding ahead?'

Next Day

Akemi watched as the technology in front of her let out a green button glow with a light DING of a bell sounding around the inspecting room or as Akemi like to call it, Naru's office.

Apparently, the technology in front of her was one of the tests Naru was thinking of. Akemi would pick on a set of buttons laid in front if her and she would pick which of the technology is going to correct.

So far, it was the 97th time she pressed a button and in all those times they all glowed green and correct.

DING!— DING!— DING!

And Akemi managed to click all 100, as subtle as she can—Akemi lifted her gaze and glanced at Naru under her lashes, lightly fiddling with her fingers out of a nervous habit but she hoped none of those were noticeable if she were to give a giddy smile.

However for the person next to her, Naru remained passive and focused on the results given by the technology to notice her constant shifts.

Akemi rarely gets nervous, but at times like this— concerning her abilities, something that little to no one can explain— she grew even more worried than on auditions and walkthroughs.

So with a nonexistent gulp of worry, Akemi spoke. "What does it say?"

Naru quickly wrote something in his notes before closing it up, "You've taken this test thrice and on every try, you've guessed all of the buttons the technology used perfectly and without a delaying doubt— You have a Patent Precognition, but even Patent Precogs make mistakes at least once or twice you may be more on Active Precognition. A very high intuition sense...that managed to be correct on a thousand clicks, you even guessed which are the false ones..."

Akemi bit her lip, something her grandmother and aunt despised— but she couldn't help it! It was that only thing to stop her from beaming, as her nervousness flew and forgotten.

Akemi tried to control her smile, noticing the light in Naru's tone. 'He seems to be enjoying himself...'

Other more tests were conducted but with limited technology available— Naru deems it better if they were on an official lab. Of course, Akemi only heard him mutter it under his breath, being fully emerged in his work to notice Akemi's presence.

Akemi hoped that she wasn't actually forgotten,

Naru straightened up, turning back to get Akemi to an another test as if his muttering workaholic-self didn't show itself earlier.

In the end, it was theorized that Akemi secrete energy that others would deem 'Spiritual Energy' that is used on exorcising spirits, the energy exorcists secrete and spend to cleanse the ghosts.

However, by Akemi's readings, it was all abnormal and fills her body to the brim to the point of it secreting energy like a dripping faucet. The conclusion was yet to be revealed, but Naru made a hypothesis of her energy seeping off to spirits and paranormal as either a moth to a flame or a bee to an intruder. All depending on the 'spirit' present.

But of course, it was all yet to be studied. Right now, Akemi was a walking piece of abnormality and Naru was trying his best to answer them all,

But at times, even questionable events hold no kind of answer but Naru always believed of everything having their reasons of existence.

It is just yet undecided as to what was it's existence.
