It was finally the weekend and I was relieved.
All week "Wolf Adams" had been finding any excuse possible to lay a hand or finger on me. My waist, my thigh, my hip, lower back, even my neck on occasion. His smirk plaguing my thoughts. His touches invading my dreams.
I need a run!
But first coffee.
Entering the kitchen the scene was the same as 6am every Saturday morning. Dad, paper in hand sipping his coffee. Mum sipping her tea asking about the weakly weather.
'Darling, your up early' was my Dads greeting for the morning.
'I feel like a run. Would you guys like to join me or have you already been out?'
'Sure'
'We would love too' my Mum was always excited when I asked her to join me. Saw it as a bonding experience. I'd let her think whatever as long as I could run to the stream. It was hot this morning and Aurora felt like a swim.
'Why don't we go meet the pack.' I rolled my eyes. I didn't see the urgency.
'Sure dad but only if we can swim in the lake after'
'Sure thing'
20 minutes later we had all drank our coffee, showered and were ready to go. Dad had a bag hanging around his neck with a change of clothes for each of us. Since my silver colouring was unusual and would certainty give away my secret, we would shift at the border of their territory and walk in.
The run didn't take long, which had Aurora winging. She felt teases with such a short run but with the promise of a swim after the meeting she went quiet. Though I could feel her excited tail wag from her corner of my mind.
The Blood Moon packs territory was massive. Where I expected small houses and maybe a could of large buildings for the school and pack house, I faced I miniature town. Complete with its own bakery, coffee shop, library, gym and more I couldn't see signs for.
We approached the largest building, assuming it was the pack house.
There were two guards outside the door who looked at us while a smile that also held curiosity.
'Can we help you?' The question was polite but an answer was expected.
'Good morning. I am Karl, this is my mate Eleanor and my daughter Alexis.' My father greeted
'We have recently moved to the area and wanted to introduce ourselves in person. We are hoping to see Alpha Adams'
ALPHA ADAMS?? Hold on. "Wolf Adams" is related to the alpha of the biggest pack in the country.
My heart was racing with the prospect of seeing the hands hot guy from school that invaded my every thought.
'Of course! He has been expecting you. Please head inside'
'Thank you'
With the polite dismissal we made our way up the 7 steps to the door. Dad had always encouraged me to be aware of my surroundings and exits in case something was to go wrong or make me uncomfortable. I had spent my whole. Life training to protect myself and my family.
The huge double doors of the building opened, without the creak I was expecting from old doors. This place must be well maintained.
The room is not what I was expecting. It was a beautiful, large entry room. With with colours of purple and silvers, a stair case curving up to the second floor on either side of the open walkway into and even larger room that looked like a ball room.
'My guards said I had visitors. Welcome!' Came a loud voice from up the stairs to the left.
My eyes shot open wide. I knew that voice. It cant be.
'Alpha Adams, it's a pleasure to meet you in person' my father greeted.
No no no this cant be right! I kept thinking to myself.
But sure enough, sauntering down the steps in front of my was none other than "Wolf Adams". He knows. He had to have known. That's why he told me to call him that. He was teasing me.
'Alpha?' It slipped from my mouth without thought. Almost sounding demanding.
There was that cocky grin I had gotten so used to seeing.
'Hello Alex' he drawled
'Oh you two have met?' My mother asked
'Oh yes. Alex here is the smartest young woman I have ever met. We share multiple classes at school.' He declared as if his words had any effect on me.
'This is the person I mentioned to you mum. The one that I said was acting strange. It's because he knew I am a wolf.' I told her matter of a factly.
'Oh. You have spoken about me' he smirked once again
'Spoken about the threat of someone at a human school knowing what I am yes. You, not so much' I gave a smirk of my own.
'Wait was that you I saw across the lake the other night? Are you stalking me?'
'Lexi!' My parents scolded in unison
'It's quite alright Mr and Mrs Hunt. It is understandable to be suspicious in a new area with unknown people around you' he was loving this.
'So what is your real name, Alpha Adams' I asked with a slight glare my parents did not see.
'Leigh. Alpha Leigh Adams of the Blood Moon Pack' the smirk had not left his face. And his eyes glittered with mischief. It made my blood boil and my heart race.
My parents could sense what was brewing inside me.
'Excuse me Alpha, do you have a ladies room we could use? It was quite a run here'
'Of course. Past the stair case, third door on the left' he said with a kind smile.
'Thank you very much'
Still seething, my mother grabbed my arm pulling me toward the bathroom. The moment the door shut behind us she started the usual routine.
'Breath hunny. Come on. Think of the lake, and the birds in the trees. Calm, control remember'
I nodded, taking a few breaths. Feeling my blood cool I gave my mother a timid smile.
'I'm sorry Mum'
'It's alright baby. You will get control of it'
Since my 16th birthday I've known I was different. My parents didn't know for sure since the magic doesn't show until your 16 so they hadn't mentioned it too me just in case. But there it was, my 16th birthday and everything changed.
I am half Fae. A Werewolf, Fae hybrid. The Fae are a different species that live in their own world, hidden from others as to keep them safe.
This means I possess magic. I have abilities that makes me different, uncertain and dangerous to others who don't understand. Not only can I shift into my wolf form, I can also shift into my Fae form. Fae are large humanoid creatures with some differences. Ive only shifted a few times. It's different from shifting into a wolf. Where my wolf, larger than most, will rearrange my bones, my Fae will stretch mine. Becoming 3 feet taller than my human form, my ears grow to a point, my canines elongate similar to my wolf but thinner and sharper.
This is why we had to leave our first home. I had shifted with no control as my 16th birthday party. One minute I'm a small 16 year old human girl, the next a 7 feet tall creature out of a fantasy book. All of my friends had freaked out and ran from our house. That night we packed up and left.
After a few minutes we headed back out to the entry. There was a guard waiting to lead us to where the Alpha was giving my father a tour of the massive building.
'Mum why would an Alpha be going to high school? And aren't Alphas supposed to be your age?'
I had so many questions rolling around in my mind it was hard to catch one.
'An Alpha can pass down their title when their child turns 18. Since he is only recently 18 he decided to finish out his school year before taking on full responsibility.'
That made sense. But something still didn't sit right.
'Mum. What does it feel like if you find your mate before the bond can take hold?'
'Is he..?
'I'm don't know. I hope not.' I hadn't meant to get so defensive. Mum acted as though she hadn't noticed.
'It's like they consume your every thought. When you touch its electrifying. You find yourself drawn to them. Even if you don't want to be. But that's only if you are both of strong blood. Which you both are' she hid her smile as she threw that last part in there. I know what she was thinking. She was hopeful. But he was not my mate. There was no way.
'Ahh my beautiful ladies. You have found us.' My fathers voice drew me from my thoughts.
'I would love to have you all join us for dinner, the pack would love to meet the new Wolves in town. Of course there is no threat or pressure of joining! You are welcome to live your own lives as you please and my guards will know you are welcome to use the facilities on our lands as you need so long as respect is shown.' His smile was large and genuine this time. But I also picked up on the shuttle undertone of dominance. Young alpha indeed.
'We would love too' my mother responded eagerly
'Fantastic. We convine at 6 for our weekly feast which is followed by a run you are of course welcome to join'
With that my panic started to rise again. It was bad enough I'm sure it was him lurking In the forest the other night meaning an alpha had seen my silver fur. I couldn't risk a whole pack seeing.
'Mum I'm not feeling very well. May I go home. Please.' I tried to not let the panic show in my voice.
'Oh okay yeah sure hunny. Ill come with you.'
' if you will excuse us alpha, I think we will get out daughter home. We look forward to seeing you at dinner' my father politely made excuses.
'I hope you feel better Alex. I would hate to miss you at dinner' I was sure there was more to his spoken words.
'Thank you'
We made our way home with my panic rising by the minute. I couldn't help the feeling of being watched.
