Chapter 26 - THE CLASH OF TITANS: BATTLE OF WILL

How far would one go when faced with an exact match in power and hope? What makes one stand out from the rest? Soon, everyone would witness the most devastating clash the world has ever seen: a battle between love and hatred, known as the Battle of Will.

In terms of raw power, the military was already on the brink of defeat. The scorpion, with its ability to move unpredictably and its overwhelming strength, had turned the battlefield into a stage of destruction. Tanks were sliced in half, vehicles were overturned, and the beast's relentless attacks made the air heavy with tension. The ground forces, despite their bravery, were struggling to keep up.

Realizing that conventional tactics would no longer suffice, Isabella decided to deploy the military's most desperate strategy: Genocide. She ordered every jet to regroup high above the clouds, out of the beast's reach. As the jets assembled, she contacted the surviving soldiers on the ground.

"All units on land, do you copy?" she asked urgently.

"It's time for Plan B. Initiate Genocide," she commanded.

The soldiers responded with a chorus of "Roger," and soon after, every remaining soldier dropped cluster bombs from their tanks before sealing themselves inside. The bombs exploded with a fury that was almost apocalyptic. Pieces of the battlefield were ripped apart, and the air filled with smoke and debris. The Overwhelm holders, despite their regenerative abilities, were overwhelmed by the sheer number of explosions. Their bodies were torn apart, and the ground became a graveyard of chaos.

The air force, still hidden in the clouds, prepared for the final phase of the Genocide. Isabella gave the order to unleash a simultaneous barrage of missiles. The missiles rained down with deadly precision, and the Overwhelm holders, already weakened by the cluster bombs, had no means to evade or counter the assault. The devastation was immense. Tanks and vehicles exploded, and the remaining lower ranks were decimated, leaving only the generals to face the remnants of the military.

Even with this victory, Isabella remained vigilant. She knew that the scorpion, despite being severely injured, was still a formidable threat. She had been studying it closely and knew it would eventually make an appearance. With her squad by her side, she prepared for one last decisive move.

"I need only one shot at this," Isabella told her team. "We have to intercept the beast before it goes back underground. We only get one chance."

The soldiers, despite knowing the odds were against them, agreed to follow her plan. They were willing to risk their lives to bring down the beast. They set up a trap, using a soldier as bait to lure the scorpion out of hiding. The soldier, driving a fast car, headed out of the city, drawing the beast's attention.

The scorpion, sensing the trap, tried to attack from below, but the soldier's evasive maneuvers kept him out of reach. The beast eventually surfaced to strike the car, but the soldier had managed to attach a tracker to it. As the scorpion went back underground, the GPS tracker provided a crucial lead.

Isabella's eyes lit up with determination. "Son of a gun! He shot him with a tracker," she said, impressed by the soldier's resourcefulness. "I knew he couldn't have gone down so easily unless he did it on purpose."

Fin, the soldier who had been close to Isabella throughout the battle, offered to intercept the scorpion. "So what's the plan now, Vulture?" he asked.

"I need you to keep him from going back underground," Isabella replied. "We can't afford to mess this up. Are you up for it?"

Fin's eyes blazed with resolve. "Ready when you are."

They needed another bait to draw the scorpion out, and Julia volunteered despite the danger. Steve tried to dissuade her, but Julia was determined, calling him a coward. She knew the risks but believed in the mission.

As Julia ventured out to find a vehicle, the battlefield was a haunting scene of corpses and destruction. She moved cautiously, knowing that any noise or misstep could alert the beast. Her breathing was steady, and her mind focused on finding a car that could serve as bait. She was acutely aware of the danger, and the thought of being alone in such a chaotic environment was daunting.

Meanwhile, Royer was engaged in his own fierce battle. He faced Pride, a formidable opponent driven by a deep-seated grudge. Pride, filled with rage and sorrow, sought revenge for the death of his friend at Royer's hands. Despite the emotional intensity, Royer was not easily defeated. He had discovered new aspects of his powers, such as weaponizing anything he touched and using it for teleportation. His newfound abilities allowed him to switch places with Pride, creating a tactical advantage.

The fight between Royer and Pride was brutal, with both combatants pushing their limits. Royer's ice weaponry and Pride's relentless attacks created a deadly dance of power and fury. Royer's strategic use of his powers allowed him to hold his ground, but the battle was far from over.

As Julia finally located a vehicle, she prepared to use it as bait. With the beast's tracker providing their location, the final confrontation loomed on the horizon. The scorpion, still wounded but dangerous, would have to be drawn out into the open. The stage was set for the ultimate clash, where strategy, bravery, and sheer willpower would determine the outcome.

When it came to fighting prowess, Royer was undoubtedly formidable. Yet, the opponent he faced challenged this assumption with a relentless display of skill and power. Pride, a creature with the agility of a cheetah and the strength of a lion, proved to be an equal match. His fighting style was as wild and unpredictable as a jungle predator's. Despite Royer's superior abilities, Pride's raw power and swiftness turned every encounter into a brutal clash of equals.

As Royer engaged with Pride, he quickly realized that his opponent was far from ordinary. Pride's speed was breath taking, even direct eye contact did not guarantee a clear sense of his movements. In a blink, Pride's claws clashed with Royer's spear, and though Royer managed to deflect the blows, he struggled to counter the onslaught. Pride struck from every conceivable angle, his ferocity leaving no room for Royer to regain his footing.

Understanding that the traditional approach of waiting for an opportunity would not work, Royer adapted his strategy. He began to spin his spear in a wide arc, creating a barrier of motion to anticipate Pride's strikes. This new method proved effective initially, as Pride, caught off guard by Royer's adaptive technique, misjudged his attacks. However, Pride's relentless aggression did not diminish; he adapted quickly, honing in on the slightest weaknesses in Royer's defence.

Pride's roar echoed through the battlefield, signalling a transformation that Royer had feared.
