After the realization dawned on me that I was in fact inside the novel called 'Rise of The Greatest Swordsman', I took a deep breath. Now every piece started to come together. The best academy in the human domain, the Light Academy. The appearance of both the head master and the vice-principal.
'Something is off... I don't remember anything regarding an opening ceremony.'
"Hey, what's the date today?" I asked to the student right next to me.
"Huh? What kind of quest-"
"Just answer me."
I couldn't deal with the idle chit chat of this boy right now as something serious was running in my mind. The boy gave me a weird look which was understandable.
"September 23 of 2123. Why would you even ask this question?"
"You see, I have a very bad memory."
I said with a forced smile. Then I immersed my self into my thoughts, ignoring the external environment.
'No wonder I couldn't recall an opening ceremony. This was not even included in the novel. If I am not mistaken, then the beginning of the novel was when the academy officially started. This ceremony must be before the official opening.'
'September 23 of 2123'. There was still a week before the novel started. The end of the September should be the day the academy opened officially.'
This meant I had only seven days before the novel began. I now had an idea as the where was I? I was on a planet called Arion, where five races resided on: Elves, Orcs, Dwarfs, Humans, Demons and Dragons. Though the existence of the dragons were come to be known in the middle of the novel. Therefore, no one knew about them. Of course, no one except me.
Arion was rich in mana, a higher level of energy. Thus allowing people to use magic. Magic allowed people to create supernatural phenomenons with their will. It all started when portals appeared out of nowhere. Thousands of demon emerged from the portals and attacked the civilizations all around the world.
This pushed other races to form a temporary alliance to fend off the demon army. But following the outbreak of the demons, the residents of the Arion found out they could feel and control some sort of energy that was present in the air.
This energy was later called as mana. A lot of advancement has been done since the day of the outbreak. And now the mana was utilized in everywhere, from martial arts to technology.
'Apparently the teleportation trick the head master showed was also a magic.'
However, while those with talent in the field of magic became an important figure, those with no talent was thrown away only to be rotten away. The world was ruled by the strong. The laws of the jungle applied in Arion.
'Now I know where I am. But I still don't know who I am. Do the person whose body I took over have any part in the story? Or am I just an extra?'
All of a sudden, my chain of thoughts were interrupted by a charming female voice.
"Hey, what are you doing here? The opening ceremony has already finished 10 minutes ago!"
I quickly turned towards where the voice came from. There was a woman in her mid-twenties. She was beyond the definition of beautiful. She had long red wavy hair. Her round orange eyes resembled of a fierce flame that can't be tamed.
She wore a classical teacher uniform with an identification card confirming that she is in fact a teacher. Her body was well-developed and had a special charm. But I knew that was merely a trap.
'Ember Bell'
The name was very familiar to me. She was one of the important side characters in the novel. She was the classroom teacher of the 1-A. The classroom where many conflicts and schemes would take place, and also where the main characters of the novel would become acquainted with each other.
I took a quick glance to surroundings. The vice-principal and students had already gone. There was only me and Ember in the whole area.
Once again, Ember pulled me out of my sea of thoughts.
"Hello? Can you hear me? I said the ceremony has already finished."
Her face was so close to my face which made the situation much more awkward. I took a step back and cleared my throat. I looked straight into her eyes and tried my best to be calm.
"My apologies Miss Bell. I often lose the track of time when I am pondering about something deeply."
"Oh, is that so? Then can I ask what is so important that you didn't even hear me?"
'Her temper is as bad as ever...'
"Well, I was thinking about my workout schedule. I don't want to waste my time sleeping and laying around. I need to get stronger as quickly as possible."
It was a poor lie. But I had no other choice. Ember was a teacher who only valued hardworking students. If I wanted to leave a good first impression on her, I had to choose my words correctly.
"Hmm... I see. If you decided on your schedule then go to your room now and stop wasting your time here. If you really want to become stronger, I advise you to spend your time until the official opening of the academy wisely.
I nodded in agreement.
"Thanks for the advise, Miss Bell. I will keep that in mind."
"You are welcome."
"Then I will take my leave."
I turned around and was going to start walking towards where I came from. But just as I took my first step, Ember asked the question I feared the most.
"By the way, what is your name?"
