The door opened, revealing a broad hallway. There were many boys and girls walking in the corridor, playing, chattering. The atmosphere here was so shiny for Theodore that he needed a few seconds to adjust himself.
I was wearing a casual black T-shirt and a loose, black cargo pants. I had found these pieces of clothes in the wardrobe, and took it without a much thought. But they were unrealistically comfortable. It was completely better than the clothes in my former world. I regretted that I hadn't searched the room more comprehensively before leaving. But learning where I was was more important right now.
'Who knows what more I could have found in that room.'
I walked towards where others went. While following the crowd I also noticed the ages of those around me was pretty much the same as mine. So, I concluded I was in a school since this many teen can only be found at either a school or a party. Since there was no such an atmosphere that can be found in a party, there is one place left: School. And this building I was in was an enormous one.
There wasn't any big similarities between the people but I found out that everyone had the exactly same digital watch on their wrist, which happened to be only absent on my wrist. However, something was bothering me. This place seemed so familiar, but at the same tame too unfamiliar as well. I felt a weird sensation, like experiencing a deja vu.
'No, it's not time to think about useless things. I have to cast away these distracting thoughts.'
I had to learn two essential things. First one being 'Where am I?'. Where was I? Was I even still on Earth?! Could it be that I was reincarnated in a parallel universe? Just as I was going to dive into my sea of thoughts, I was interrupted by a loud voice of a middle-aged man.
I lifted my head and looked around, where I saw that all the students had been gathered in an open area. Thousands of seats were placed before a wooden podium. The moment the students filled up all the seats, a middle-aged man with suit appeared out of thin air.
My jaw instantly dropped. I rubbed my eyes a few times only to be forced to accept the reality of this bizarre phenomenon. The man had short brown hair and a neat beard. His huge smile and sharp black eyes created a contrast. His eyes were scanning the each youth simultaneously.
I glanced left and right to see others' reaction, yet all I saw was sparkling eyes, admiring the man. Not long after, whispers started among the students.
"Woah! Did you see that? He just materialized out of air on the podium! How did he even do that?"
"He must have used teleportation magic! But how could he use teleportation magic, I thought he was an (S)-rank awakener?
"As expected of the head master, he has already broken through the (SS)-Rank!"
The chatter of the students immediately ceased as the head master spoke.
"Hello my dear students! I am Mark Ashton, the head master of the Light Academy and I am very pleased to see you all excited for the new academic year. I don't want to bore you to death by boring speeches so I will just jump into the main topic."
After confirming there was a complete silence he continued.
"We, as the number one academy in the entire human territory, are responsible for nurturing future pillars of humanity. And I can see some promising ones among you, especially among the new first years."
Suddenly, his cheerful aura erased from his face like it never existed in the first place. What replaced it was a serious look.
"As you know, the threats of demons is getting only more serious as the time passes. And humanity need more powerhouses to resist the demons. Although the other three races are also fighting against the demons, dividing the power of the demon army, we can't always rely on other races."
"So, you all need to work hard. I wish all of you luck, which you will probably need."
With those last words the head master vanished from the spot leaving the students in silence. But silence didn't last long and shoutings of motivated students erupted.
Soon after, another man with a suit walked towards the podium amidst the cheers coming from students for the head master. He had shoulder-length blonde hair with beautiful crystal violet eyes. Unlike the head master, he had a dull expression like nothing can ever pique his interest.
"Hey, I am vice-principal, Gracia Mendes", He told in a monotonous tone.
"Let's talk about some basic rules for the first years. First! It is forbidden to brag about your background in the school, your standings among your peers can only be determined by your strength."
"Second! We have no tolerance for those who resort to violence in school. You can do whatever you want outside the school, but inside, you may even get expelled from the academy."
For the rest of the speech, he explained the policy of the school, the schedule and many other things about how the Light Academy works. However, I was having a hard time comprehending the situation.
My mind was a mess. The name of the school I was in, the head master and vice-principal, all clues pointed out only a single door. Yes, I couldn't deny it.
The world I was transmigrated into was the novel I had finished just before my suicide: 'Rise of The Greatest Swordsman'.
"Fuck!"
