Chapter 30 - Joining the Thieves Guild IV

"She… Doesn't know what to say…" M'rissi says, plopping down in confusion.

"It seems there's quite a bit of information missing from these papers, but our scaly friend seems to have made himself scarce… I wonder why?" I ask with a smirk.

"He is no friend of hers, humph!" M'rissi pouts.

"Alright," I say while rustling her hair, "We need to go and take care of that job and wait for featherhead to make his way back here."

I begin to make my way out of the Ragged Flagon before Dirge speaks to me, "Last person who made trouble for Vekel ended up with a smashed head."

"Hey, why is it they call you Dirge?" I ask as if I don't know the cliché answer.

"They call me Dirge, 'cause I'm the last thing you hear before they put you in the ground. Why? You think it's funny or something?" Dirge asks with a sneer.

"I think it's hilarious. You got a problem?" I tell him with an equally as surly sneer.

"Yeah, my problem is I'm too tired to punch your face in." Dirge says glaring at me before we both bust out laughing.

"Sorry if I sounded so mean there. My brother always said I have a big mouth. Here, have one on me." Dirge says handing me a mead.

"No problem, gotta mess with the new guy after all. Speaking of, Brynjolf has a job I need to get done. See you around, Dirge." I say heading out of the Ragged Flagon with M'rissi and Inigo following close behind as I make my way to the Bunk House.

On my way there, I catch the rest of my party leaving the main gate with Grelka as I make my way into the Bunk House… Where I'm greeted with a rather… Confusing sight…

Sofia… Who is almost definitely drunk… And chasing a blushing Kasia around the various patrons cheering Sofia on.

"C'mon Blondie! Just a little peck on the cheek! I promise I'll be gentle!" Sofia calls at the top of her lungs making the rest of the patrons laugh.

"Ms. Sofia! Please stop! This is highly inappropriate and I already told you I'm saving my first kiss for- Commander Malborne!" Kasia exclaims in shock when I walk in.

"I know he's got that rugged handsomeness thing going for him, but he's not here right now so I've got you all to myself!" Sofia says, grabbing the shocked Kasia about to lay a kiss on her unguarded lips before I step forward and lock her in a rear chokehold.

"Alright, Sofia, enough is enough. You've had your fun." I say keeping her from breaking free of my hold.

"Oh? You want fun do you?" Sofia asks with a devilish smile before whispering in my ear with her warm mead breath, "Choke me harder, daddy."

I start blushing and… My grip tightens without me realizing it…

"Too tight… Too… Tight…" Sofia gasps before passing out… And snoring loudly… With a… Euphoric(?) smile plastered on her face.

"Ka-Kasia!" I yell to Kasia with my voice cracking slightly before I can get it back under control.

"Y-yes, C-commander Malborne!" Kasia stutters out, still furiously blushing. Her's being slightly more noticeable than mine thanks to my greenish skin tone.

"Could you please take Sofia back to the Inn to sleep this off?" I ask, trying to avoid eye contact.

"S-sure!" Kasia says, struggling to hoist Sofia out of my arms.

"M'rissi, do you mind assisting Kasia and keeping her company while I take care of some pressing business?" I ask, while turning towards a scowling M'rissi.

"She will be sure to take care of that one very well indeed!" M'rissi says, roughly helping Kasia drag Sofia back to the Inn.

And as those two leave and I'm able to center myself and turn my attention to Haelga.

"Listen, I know that you've racked up a debt with the Guild. So, they sent me here to take it back. I'd advise you pay up. Or that Dibella statue that you're so fond of will find it's way into the market well. Understood?" I say, leaning towards her across her counter.

"Not Lady Dibella? No, please! I can't lose her! I get the message. Here, take your gold. I hope you choke on it!" Haelga shouts and throws a purse of 100 gold at me. Which I deftly catch and smile before making my way out of there.

"Are you sure this is what you want to do, my friend?" Inigo finally asks once we're alone.

"Sorry if it makes you uncomfortable Inigo. But, it's not a matter of want, but a matter of need. I've got some pretty big plans, and the Guild is an integral part of them. But I understand if you're uncomfortable with them, and I can take care of this on my own if I need too." I tell him as I make my way towards the Pawned Prawn.

"You misunderstand friend, I am not judging your career choice, just wanting to remind you of exactly what you are getting yourself into before you get in too deep. But, no matter what you choose, I'll be here with you, watching your back!" Inigo says, his eyes filled with deep concern.

"Don't you worry, I know exactly how much danger I'm getting in." I say with a smile before kicking in the door to Berti's shop and shouting, "I've come with a message from Brynjolf!"

"Wha… what? Oh, it's one of you people. So, Brynjolf doesn't even other to show up himself anymore, eh? What's this message then, huh?" Bersi questions with obvious disdain.

"See that Blue? That right there is why the Guild needs us. Teach those, under our 'protection' to show us the proper respect we deserve. Like paying their debts, or certain… Unfortunate things would happen." I say threateningly glaring at Bersi.

"Who is Blue, my name is-… Oh, we're doing the name thing! Yes Green! Very bad things can happen to those who don't pay their debts… Like repossession of goods, foreclosure of businesses, and even a loss of reputation among clientele." Inigo says slowly becoming less convincing.

I turn to stare at him like he's an idiot, silencing him, before turning back to Bersi.

"Petty threats and fist waving are not going to sway me! You people are all talk, and everyone knows it! You demand payment for protection and you can't even protect yourselves!" Bersi begins shouting at me indignantly having found the courage to stare me in the eyes as he does it.
