I didn't expect that from dad. I thought he'd cave under the pressure and reveal everything but it looks like I underestimated him again. He made a difficult decision but stook with it even if it meant hurting his cousin, that's some serious determination.
[You have a good father Rudeus.] Laplace said to me, all sorts of positive emotions flooding over me. Even if he started out a little rough around all the edges he's definitely a dad I can be proud of now even if he is insufferably perverted.
[I do.] I responded proudly. How could I not be proud of his growth as a human being, husband, and father? Growing as a person was hard, I would know, but he was well on his path and I couldn't be prouder.
Regardless, now that I know that I can trust dad to handle himself I may as well go enjoy myself a little. It can be a small vacation from the usual relentless charge toward power I spent my entire life in.
Writing a quick note and leaving it on a nearby table I left the room to find a few ways to entertain myself. Entertainment as a whole was slightly lacking in this world but a noble should have a few methods I can use.
Making my way through the halls I made sure to avoid the person that had the demon eye. I didn't know what it did so it's best to be careful around her just in case it's something that may ruin my peaceful life before I'm ready.
"Young miss please stop!" A maid down the hall shouted suddenly. Using mana sense I knew it was just a child two or so years older than me studying so I ignored it but now that they were making a commotion there is only one thing to do.
Turning around I walked away without hesitation. I'm only a guest and the owners of the house are dad's employers, it'd be smart to not cause any trouble with the castle's 'young miss'. Besides, it sounds like a pain in the butt and I'm on vacation right now.
"No! Who cares about numbers!" The feisty voice of the young miss rang out in the hallway as they quickly approached me. And to answer her question, I care about numbers. They were an integral part of magic after all.
Covering myself in a film of mana to reflect all light that may hit me and moving out of her way I patiently waited for her to go past me. She seemed like quite the troublemaker that I wouldn't even bother to talk to normally let alone when I'm on vacation.
Soon enough two sets of footsteps rang out in the previously deserted hallways. Now there were maids that heard all the shouting creating a barricade of bodies to hopefully stop her. She must be a huge mischief if they are so used to this.
"Get out of my way!" The young miss shouted out at the wall of maids in front of her, her crimson hair flying through the air. She was about five years old with a petite body fitting of her age with crimson hair and eyes. Her attitude was something to be expected from a presumably spoiled noble girl but she still seemed reasonable considering she stopped instead of running through her maids.
She must be at least slightly empathetic or at the very least she doesn't want to hurt her servants. That's a good trait to ha-. No. I was definitely wrong, she isn't empathetic at all or even kind for that matter.
Grabbing an expensive vase by the wall she threw it at the crowd of her maids without hesitation, a look of anger on her face. Luckily she was kind enough to throw it in a way that it likely wouldn't hit them but it was still incredibly dangerous for no reason. Normally I would intervene but I was on vacation. Besides, somebody else would do it for me.
Leaping over the wall of servants my dad stood in front of them as a vase flew toward his head with an arrogant smirk on his face. I don't know if he was excited to show off or if he was excited to show off to a bunch of ladies but I'll beat him up later anyway.
"Hey, that's not nice little lady." My dad scolded with the same infuriating smirk on his face that he held when he fought somebody. The girl's battle aura was extremely weak and unrefined so she wouldn't be a threat but if she continued fighting dad would have to contain her.
"Don't look down on me!" The young miss shouted angrily as she recklessly charged at dad, her fist poised to strike him. From her posture, it seems she's started practicing the Sword God style recently.
"So feisty! I think my son would like you! What do you think, wanna marry him?" Dad teased her but a quick flash of my killing intent stopped him. "Scratch that, I think I'd die if you did." Dad said, wiping some sweat off his brow while looking at me from the corner of his eyes.
Apparently, he can instinctively tell where I am because he's fought a few monsters with similar abilities in the past. It's not like my magic was invincible either as it only covers sight out of the seven senses.
"Screw your son, fight me seriously!" She demanded angrily as she went to him again. Unsurprisingly she missed despite him not even taking it remotely seriously. This is what should have happened in my first swordsmanship lesson.
"You want to do what with my son? I guess you really are a Greyrat. I'm so proud!" Dad teased her making her screech in anger. Don't worry young miss, I understand you and I will get revenge for both of us.
"Stop dodging so I can hit you!" She demanded angrily, her finger pointing at him accusingly. It was amusing since it was something that no reasonable fighter would allow but then again, nobody in this world was normal.
"You're a little too weak to hit me. Why don't you fight my kid instead? What do you think Rudy?" Dad asked me with an infuriating smirk on his face, his eyes looking directly at me. The servants who were looking at him in a mix of awe and disgust now looked at him in the same pity that would be given to an insane person.
"No." I replied without a shred of hesitation.
