Chapter 19 - Chapter 17: Such a Novelty

I sprinted away from him, toward the shelf with chains. I knew the one I favored. I snatched the wushu chain whip and quickly wrapped it around my forearm. He lowered his sword an inch and his eyes were aimlessly staring at the center of the whip. Shooting the piece through the side, it rolled around his blade. Tightening my grip, I flung it towards me. He did not move an inch.

I dropped the chains and looked up at him, "is everything okay, uncle?"

He shook his head, "Yes, hello. Wrong? Nothing at all." He covered his face for a moment and smiled, "I did not expect you to pick that"

I smirked and tilted my head, "like how you thought my previous choices were toys."

"I can see that with an accommodating ability, you can take advantage and deal some serious damage." He sat down and continued, "Anyway, I was not expecting you to be good with any type of weaponry, with just the fact you can use your elements."

"Uncle, I'm an overachiever. I learned them about the same time. At the academy, they would only ever give me swords." I rolled my eyes, "Of course, they give them to everyone, since they want everyone to be well rounded. Or, the elementalists would be practicing solely on their own elements. That's not when I practiced. It was at the training grounds. That's where I learned how to use my elements with weapons of the more delicate nature."

I gave him back his sword, and whistled all the weapons on the floor to their appropriate place.

Theo sat down and patted the spot next to him. I followed his ask, and he began his lecture. I spaced out, looking at everything in the room. After a long while, he got up, grabbed my wrist to help me up. "the Myriads will be arriving at the No Name Land territory in less than a week. You should practice more and mentally prepare for this war."

I looked at my feet, unsure if I was ready.

"Time for food." Theo clapped, rubbed his empty stomach and ran to the dining hall, leaving me behind.

Kish walked in surprise, "Are you okay, youngin?"

I walked toward the exit and smiled, "I guess so. What are you doing here?"

Owel jogged toward me and sat. I rubbed her back, as Kish answered, "It's my time for the chamber. I am sorry to kick you out."

"Oh, I'm sorry. Knight Theo did not tell me how long we were going to have this room for." I let go of Owel.

Kish lightly tapped my shoulder to hold me back and shined a bright smile, "unless you would like to train more? With me?"

"Sounds fun, but not really." I waved back at him and left, closing the door behind me.

I didn't follow Theo, and headed back to the room. I knew what my plan was next. I knew what I enjoyed. Searching for Silver, I ransacked our room. I threw books off the desk. I repeatedly open and closed all the drawers and cupboard. I looked underneath the bedding, the wood pieces. Still gone.

So annoyed, I left to head to the main deck.

Asking around, a lieutenant guided me to one of the more popular toolsman, a demon who specializes in creating weapons. It was a different staircase we followed down a few floors. He was sharpening a blade, creating sparks around the room. His forehead and his horns from his temples were dripping sweat.

"Excuse me. I am sorry to intrude," I knocked on the open door. I waved at the lieutenant that I found it and he quickly left the area.

"You are interrupting my work and most likely have the wrong room. The room to sew is three doors down." He didn't even look up to me.

"No. I am looking for a blacksmith. Is that you," I spoke quietly.

"Yes, I am a blacksmith. What do you need young lady?" he stopped sharpening the blade and looked up. For a moment he gazed my whole body and spoke, "you must be Sapphire, Theo's guest."

"Yes. I am sorry to interrupt, but they say you are the best for a reason. I was wondering if you can create a weapon for me."

"What kind?" he let go of his current project and smiled.

"it's more of a combination of sorts?" I was flinging my hands everyone. It's not like I had the best image of my weapon yet. I knew I wanted something similar to the weapons I used during Theo's and my session.

He tapped his feet repeatedly, "what of?"

"I'm hoping you can makeshift a weapon for me. A fan and blade, being connected by a chain."

I looked around his room and saw great weapons here. I saw an inscription on each of them and realized that the weapons in the chamber were made by him as well.

"Do you have a preference on the blade or even the chain type?"

I hesitated a few seconds, and his stance changed. He got aggravated, and continued, "do you want a dagger, katana, kunai, kama, seax blade, kukri, tanto…"

My eyes open, as he continued to name off more blades. Seriously, he's a blacksmith. He should have a great understanding of weaponry. Is he showing off?

He veered off of blades, "and what kind of chains-?"

I cut him off before he could start a list of that. "Thank you for giving me all of those options." I remembered Silver. "I am interested in connected a karambit and a fan with a wushu chain whip. I already have the karambit."

He placed his fingers on his chin, "that's an interested combination. Is there anything else you are looking for? I might actually enjoy this project. Do you know what type of metal is your karambit"

My eyes widened as I lightly laughed, "my friend actually gave me the karambit, so I'm not sure what kind it is." I looked at his forge, "Since you asked what else could be added, it might sound strange. Is it possible for the fan to throw out thin blades?"

"Automatically or manually? Regardless, you'll only have a finite amount of knives. You'll have to search, reach, and place them back."

Biting my lip, I thought something up. "What if the fan can create more knives when there is an absence of the previous knives."

"Something like that would need a vial of metamorphica. It's such a novelty though, I doubt anyone who has any would be willing to share."

I hit my thigh and scratched behind my ear. Do I have some? Do I not? I want this weapon. I've decided it as soon as I walked through that door.

I smirked, "I have some actually. Can you make the chain length about half my body size?"

He squints, "and where would you have found that kind of liquid."

I was not the least bit honest, "my son gave it to me." He's not going to find anything about me if he's going to be disrespectful.

"Interesting. Come back after dinner with all the materials and I can start right away. I must finish my other assignment"

I clapped once, "perfect. Thank you."

He threw his hand up and waved me out.
