I fervently rush back to my room, stomping and talking underneath my breath. I can't believe I did that. I sucked in my lips as I started to tear up. I can't believe I did that. I was so mean. I'm not even sure what came over me. My blood felt hot, and I was burning with irritation. I was mean, even without being angry. I was mean, only because I was annoyed. I harmed my own comrades.
It brought back my academy days. Classics have done worse there. They would say it was a prank, then laugh about it. This time, what I did, was not funny; nor am I laughing. Next time I see them, I will apologize. I shouldn't have done that and I'm not going to do it in the future either.
I perked my ears again and tried to have the wind drift me any words. A wave of phrases washed over me. None pertained to me or what happened.
Before I touched the door, Theo opened the door. "How's it going?"
I smiled and walked in. Such a friendly phrase, but the tone was firm and condescending. "Uncle. You're still awake."
"I am. You walked out without discussion." His eyes dropped, "I simply wanted to make sure that I'm not going to be humiliated tomorrow morning."
He shut the door and sat on the chair, whereas I moved to my bed. "Nothing happened uncle. I promise."
"Okay. Just go to bed."
I scratched my forehead and agreed.
"Goodnight," we both simultaneously let out.
It took time for my eyes to stay close, and it took less time for someone to knock on our door.
Theo awoken to a thud at the door. He released an aggressive sign and mumbled under his breath. Unlike my uncle walking to the door, I tried to shut my eyes harder, and covered my ears with a pillow.
* How stupid are they. *
My uncle reached the door and let out a confidently wary groan before opening the door, "what is this about?"
A low-ranking demoness saluted to him, "Sir, I've been told to direct you to a meeting. We've spotted a carrier's wreck. Do we recover?
My uncle grunted with an annoyance tone, "what did Flynn think?"
"All the Orders are in the meeting. They would like you to join."
Theo wrote a note and walked out.
* I see. Tell me more. *
* We're moving closer to them without detection. *
I pushed the pillow deeper and around my head until their conversation faded away.
I woke up to sirens and multiple voices in my head.
* On the ports side *
* Retrieve. Heal. Repeat. *
I rolled my eyes and got up to see the note: Stay in bed. A simple order.
Opening the door, I saw the flashing complimentary lights shroud the floor. Annoyed and flustered, I contemplated whether to stay like a hound and endure this forsaken noise or to assist our newly found comrades. This is stupid. Of course, I should go and help. I'm the youngest person here, meaning they'll easily noticed that I'm not there. I concentrated to try to heat the upper deck. The sirens bombarded in my mind with the disconnected tone.
Hearing the stomping and yelling, I walked out to the top deck. On both railings were ropes thrown overboard. In the middle were priest and other races I've hardly seen: humans, shapeshifters, and zombies. Oh my.
Without direction, I grabbed the closest thread on the starboard that had the least amount of help. Gazing at the bright red water, I saw their friend floating on scraps of metal, barley holding onto their life.
I held onto the rope, pulling as much as I could. I looked around for my uncle and anyone I think would be a part of that meeting. Not here.
I moved closer to the elf in front of me and tried to speak louder than all the noise, "have we already transported a message to the Queen." He nodded and looked forward.
A warrior nudged me to move forward a bit so he can help being the anchor. His black eyes vicariously directed me to move my position. A quick nod and pull brought the last human up to the deck.
She coughed onto the deck and repeated thanked us. I grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the center, "everything is going to be okay. Our healers are right over there. They will take care of your wounds."
Her appreciation did not falter.
I left her with a healer who was more less reluctant to help compared to the others I saw.
The screaming from this section was nerve wracking.
The warrior nudged my shoulder and directed me to the other side of the ship. His eyes shone toward another rope. His voice was deep and harsh, "it's the last pull. Come help."
It took more effort from others to bring the shapeshifter up. As soon as she reached near the top, she walked on the side of the ship and hooked her tail around the railing and jumped onto the top deck. Her whimsical voice left an impression on me, "thanks guys. You would think that with blood water it would be warmer."
Her laugh was intoxicating, and she moved closer away from the edge. The shapeshifter and I both looked in the direction of the human with her cry. Following that cry, she screamed a name, "Alice!"
The shapeshifter looked at me and whispered, "is it okay if I go to my friend over there?"
I nodded, as she sprinted away.
Theo surprised me by being by my side, "follow me. We need to talk."
We moved to the second deck, meeting up with a few other officers and their higher ranked apprentices. I counted twelve in this circle.
Theo continued, "You are young, but with the growth of who resides on this ship. It's better for us to communicate our worries."
