I pointed at the lance, "put away that first."
He reluctantly put it back in the scabbard and grunted "I don't understand. You have an opportunity to learn how to work around this. Why not take advantage of this?"
I rolled my eyes, "There's only one lance that can disobey all gods. So, I'm sure no one is going to do that to me." I cocked my head, "and I doubt you would ever do that to me uncle."
"There is a sword."
"Yeah, in the royal family."
He corrected me, "the deceased royal family."
I glanced at all the weaponry on the columns. "Again, I don't I'll have to deal with the omnipotent metals. I rather train with weapons that will be at the fronts, you know?" One column was filled with strings, like whips and chains. Another carried heavy armor. One side of a column had shields, while the other had scythes, swords, and bows. I glanced at the other columns and laughed at my general knowledge of weaponry. Many columns held distinctive quality that I didn't know.
He coughed to get my attention, "How long do you plan on staring? Do you even need to use a sword?"
I rubbed my temples and took a breath of air. I grabbed a metal fan and six kunai.
My uncle roared hysterically at my choices. I remembered reading that Theo was at the top of his class when it came to hand-to-hand. While I, I was on the bottom of that list.
I closed the fan against my palm and looked at Theo. "Close your eyes," I snapped at him.
He did as I said, questioning me. I slid two kunai underneath both wrist cuffs. Placed the remaining four throughout my outfit, I smiled and quickly said, "done."
He wasn't impressed and questioned why I didn't hide the fan.
Fluttering my training, I laughed, "why would I do that? It's kind of hot in here?"
He smirked. With his not traitorous sword, he graciously charged at me and annoyingly laughed, "now I understand why you were below average at the academy. You do not take anything seriously. Those are playthings."
I smiled politely, covering my face with the fan, "Technically, yes. You're right uncle. I was not once the best in my class. I was always late. We only practice with staves, swords, and heavier weapons. I'm too delicate for that." I flickered the fan on me again, "although I didn't learn how to use these in my courses, I did learn them at the training grounds."
He lifted his swords higher, "those are toys." He was less than a few feet away from me before saying, "this is a real fight. I am going to try to kill you. You have two choices: defend or attack."
I glared happily and waved the fan toward him, with emphasis toward his right side. His sword sung inches from me and met with the ground.
I took steps back, as he regained his footing.
"Again," he stood up, preparing the same attack.
Again, I flickered the fan toward his sword alone.
He lost control of the weapon and it flung to the side.
He mumbled, "again." This time he gripped the hilt tighter, and I could tell he was greatly annoyed.
I took several steps backwards until I felt my back against the wall.
He shined a bright smile, "where else can you run?"
"Who said I was running?"
He charged toward me. His blade pointed directly at my lower left ribs.
Gripping the fan, I drove more of the air I felt in the room toward my next attack. I snatched three of the knives from my pockets. They fit perfectly on three fingers on my right hand.
I closed the fan and forced air with my movement.
His blade was less than inches away, as I pressed the fan against the metallic sword above my shoulder. He didn't lose his composure, and slightly change the direction of his dominant hand to attack the other side. The change pushed my fan away, and I lost my footing.
I dropped one of the knives on my fingers to the floor. I quickly glanced to the floor and scattered my emotions. His sword was near my other arm, and I panicked. I dropped another kunai and frowned. I heard a snicker escape his lips. Sylphs, please. I felt the tip of his sword on my collarbone. With the strength of the sylphs, the kunai on my first finger clung to his blade. Twisting the knife around, his blade followed and flung away from us. I opened my fan and waved it toward my uncle. His dominant hand was stuck to his hip.
He flashed at his arm and smiled angrily. His other hand flew toward me.
I dropped my fan and slid the kunai off of my left wrist cuff. Grabbing his wrist, I turned him and darted him onto the wall with one knife. The other kunai hidden under my wrist cuff slid down and stabbed his clothing from his dominant arm.
Both arms are stuck.
I grasped the last short blade, hidden in my back of my pants. Putting it at his neck, slightly puncturing where he got me, I hissed, "How did I do, uncle?"
At least we have matching wounds.
His eyes were lit. His face was blank. "What were you doing with the fan? I have never seen someone use it like that?"
I pulled the two kunai off him. I moved the threatening blade away from his neck, and chuckled "it's different and quite simple to maneuver when you have the command of the air."
I glanced at the elemental shelf, "I thank you, sylphs." Looking back at my uncle, I continued, "that wasn't your best. You were going slower for my benefit."
Raising his brows, he smirked, "you noticed."
He kicked the fan and the kunai away from us. "Now, your turn to charge towards me."
I rolled my eyes, "I rather not."
He picked up his sword again and shouted, "block."
With nothing? I shut my eyes longer to roll my eyes deeper.
