Chapter 13 - Chapter Thirteen

Emerald finds herself in another dark room.

"Ow!" She cries as she felt pains in every inch of her body.

'What is the pain she is feeling? Surely she hadn't felt it before now' were her thoughts.

'And why was she in a sleeping position?' She asked herself again.

She tries to move her body, but the pain just worsened and she moaned in pain.

She made another attempt but her fingers were the only thing that managed to move.

"Ow!" She moaned again.

"Doctor! Doctor!" A feminine voice called loudly. Emerald winces at how loud the voice had shouted.

"Baby! A doctor is coming!" The woman whispers and Emerald relaxed at her voice.

'That's more like it.' She thought.

'Who goes around yelling in someone's ears?' She asked herself.

'In someone's ears?!' She muttered again loudly and inaudibly.

"Doctor! She just said something! Where are the nurse and doctor and nurse of this damn hospital!" The voice yelled yet again.

emerald squeeze her eyes in displeasure.

"I'll go and get them, okay?" The voice mumbled lovingly in her ears. And emerald listens for her retreating footsteps as they move away from her From her ears!

Emerald wonders what had transpired with the light and why she felt pain in her body.

She Attempts to open her eyes- and quickly shut them almost immediately.

A white light, that could be compared to the sun had almost blinded her.

Surely the Loud voice that had almost deaf her was better than the light.

"I swear! I saw her hands move and she muttered something." The voice comes again.

"Aunt, are you sure?" Another called.

"Yes!" It answers.

Emerald tries to listen more but she heard nothing more except their retreating footsteps. She wonders what they were so worked up over / and why they sounded so distressed.

She wonders more about who the other guy was. Surely she hadn't heard his voice before now... Even when she was watching from the light.

She hears hurried footsteps from a distance... And voices. In no time, the voices get louder and footsteps closer.

"I told you she can't wake up now! She is fine but she-" a macular voice, says.

She recognizes the muscular voice. It was the man they had referred to as DOCTOR.

"I'm telling you!" the feminine voice insisted.

A door jerks open... And resounding footsteps, come close.

Emerald felt something on her chest and she wonders who had dared touch her in a sensitive place.

It was only her maids back home that dared touch her and only with her concept.

But this man, he touched her without asking.

Is this the way of men?

She questions herself.

The weird object was removed from her chest. Emerald wonders what next he would do.

A sweaty palm rested on her neck as if to inspect it. It goes over to her forehead a second later. Emerald tried her best to resist him and pushed him away.

But she was weak. She couldn't do anything. His fingers rested on her eyes lids and gently wield them open.

Emerald closes it back almost immediately.

As if the light hanging up there wasn't that bad, he points another, a bit smaller than the first into her eyes.

Emerald manages to turn her body to the other side, not letting him carry that action again.

"This is a miracle!" the man states.

Emeralds snort in displeasure.

"Mommy, I heard emerald is now awake!"

Another voice says.

"Where are all these voices coming from?" Emerald wonders

"Can I touch my sister?" the voice asks again.

Silence followed and emerald stayed still, wondering what happened.

She heard footsteps, but that was it.

A hand comes to rest on her face.

Emerald jolts her eyes open as a memory of Marian flooded her head.

She looked at the girl. she had small white eyes, and long hair that settled on her shoulder.

Emerald's gaze diverted back to her eyes. She had never seen anyone with completely white eyes. And Unshed tears were sitting on her lids.

"Take care of my sister," she recalled the strange girl that bore the same name as she said.

"Emerald," Another voice called. She hadn't noticed him coming to a squat close, because her eyes were on the teenager.

She turns to the guy with a low cut on and stared at him. For one, she doesn't seem to recognize him. But his black complexion had made her think back to her home.

She diverts her gaze to the floor.

It was her fault! She destroyed her home. And destroyed everything, every single thing generations before she had solemnly worked for. And Rory? Rory was still protecting her even when she caused havoc. The queens of the other region and her mother were still willing to help her. Even her comrades- the princesses. They never neglected her… and she still destroyed their home.

And why she was here? She couldn't comprehend.

Tears welled in her eyes and they fall freely on her cheeks.

Warm hands come to settle on her cheeks and wipes away the tears.

"I'm sorry I didn't understand you." She looks up and finds warm hazel eyes staring back at her. "I'm sorry I wasn't there. I'm sorry I got so busy… and I wasn't there for my daughters. That you made to kill your self" she cried.

"Kill me?" Emerald asked herself.

Memories that weren't hers flooded her head.

A girl with short red hair was standing on the bridge. Tears filled her eyes as she stared down at the water. And with one deep final breath… she jumped into the river from the bridge.

Emerald recognize the short hair as the girl she had seen crying. What she doesn't understand was why they were mistaking herself for the girl.

'Is this where the portal took her to?' She asked herself.

'And the other princesses? Where did it take them to?' She wondered

"You can do all this later, right now she needs rest. The nurse wants to check her temperature and runs some tests on her" The doctor booms.

The woman next to emerald, crying had gone calm. She wiped her face repeatedly and nods her head in understanding. She gives way for the nurse to come through.

But Emerald held tightly to her hand.

"Don't go!" She mumbles.

More tears pour from her eyes at the emerald gesture.

"I'm right here baby- the nurse will be quick."

She smiles at emerald before removing her hand.

'Baby?' Emerald inquired in her head.

The nurse comes next to emerald with a tray in her hand.

Emerald sighted something from the tray and she jolts forward, now sitting.

She takes the tray away from the nurse's grasp and poured the contents onto the bed.

She picks up the now empty tray and stared at her reflection on it.

'Why the fuck was her hair short and why does she look a lot like the weird girl from before?'

She looks around now taking each of their faces in memory. The light had not seemed to bother her this time around.

Emerald diverted her gaze from the faces and turn around… looking at the environment she had found herself in.

Everywhere was painted white, with weird types of equipment resting on the wall and some on the corner of the wall.

She looks at her hand which was wrapped with weird objects.

She turns swiftly- though it was painful. She managed to capture one last object before the doctor and the nurse pierced her her arms with something weird.

There was a rotating ball standing on a rack - she had seen it several times when it was dark from the sky, and when she reads... She

Had also glanced through it.

Of course, she knew what it was.

The beginning of all their problems as a semi- mortal.

Earth.

Her eyes widen as realization dwells on her.

"She is on earth... And in a human body."

Her eyelids became heavy. the light she had shut her eyes and was afraid to look at, was the same light she was desperately trying to keep her self staring at.

"When can we take her home?" she heard someone inquire

"She is recovering fast- but we still need to check on her- in a...."

She couldn't keep herself staring back at the light anymore.

She blinked once lazily... And blinked again... The next time she blinked she had drifted off to darkness.
