"We need to see the physician right now," Evie said out loud while pacing up and down the living room.
"Calm down, I am fine, I am just dizzy that is all," Ezekiel explained for the nth time. He was tired of explaining to her
"Then why is your body temperature so high, for crying out loud Ezekiel you are going to die from this extreme temperature," Evie stated.
"I would go get the driver," Evie added.
"There would be no need for that," Alexa's voice echoed behind her.
"What? He is literally dying here," Evie yelled at her.
"No, my master hates hospitals and besides I have the temporary cure for him," Alexa explained.
"Then what are you waiting for, go get it!" Evie yelled at Alexa who left quickly to get the cure.
Evie turned to face Ezekiel and the both held each other's gaze.
"If her cure doesn't work, you are going to the hospital whether you like it or not," Evie told him flatly.
Ezekiel did not reply, he just held her gaze, those beautiful emerald green eyes of hers were so beautiful and alluring.
Her attitude towards his sickness made his heart feel warm and there was this feeling of joy he had, though his face was expressionless, his mind was in chaos.
"Here master, take," Alexa handed him a glass of a reddish substance.
"What is that?" Evie asked and Alexa stiffened, this was the question she dreaded.
"It is a locally made solution," Alexa lied.
"What does it contain?" Asked Evie.
"I really don't know ma'am, but anytime my master falls sick, he takes the medication," Alexa lied again.
"Let her be," Ezekiel interfered, knowing that Alexa was trying to protect their identity.
"As she said I got it from a local market and it has been good for me," Ezekiel added.
"If that is so, let me taste it," Evie demanded and both Ezekiel and Alexa saw red instantly.
"I don't think it is a good idea, the seller had instructed that you only take it when you feel sick," Alexa said.
"It is just a sip," Evie argued.
"Evie," Ezekiel called her name warningly.
"Fine, I won't take it but if it doesn't do anything about your sickness, I won't hesitate to kick your ass to the hospital," Evie told him with all seriousness.
"Now get up and go to your room to get some rest," Evie said but Ezekiel knew it was a command.
He chuckled silently as he watched his stubborn ass of a wife approach him. Slowly, he stood up and managed to walk to his room without falling.
"Now lie down and rest or better still, sleep," Evie who had been following him all this while stated.
Evie left the room and came back with a small bowl of warm water and a hand towel.
"What are you trying to do?" Ezekiel asked, after watching her put the towel in the bowl, squeezed it slightly and approached him.
"Shh," Evie placed her hand on her lips.
"Don't tell me you want to body sponge me," Ezekiel asked.
"I said you should stay quiet and savor the moment," Evie told him and went down to business.
Truth be told, Ezekiel enjoyed the free service and didn't know when he slept off.
Evie looked at her sleeping husband whose temperature had reduced but it wasn't normal.
Evie watched him and noticed how tired he looked, he had not been resting for a while now.
A sigh escaped her lips and she used the blanket to cover him up and strode out of his room.
She breathed out in relief and went to the kitchen to prepare something for Ezekiel before he woke.
She did not know why she was doing all this for Ezekiel but she felt the urge to take care of him.
After an hour of cooking, she dished out the food and went to his room.
By the time she arrived, he was awake and was sitting on his bed leisurely, his gaze fixed on his laptop.
"Seriously Ezekiel, you are still recovering from your sickness and your eyes are fixed on the laptop," Evie chided him and dropped the tray of food on his bed.
"Enjoy your meal," Evie flashed Ezekiel a smile as she poured water into his glass cup.
"Eat," she urged him.
"Who prepared it?" He asked.
"Me," Evie replied proudly and Ezekiel only shook his head and took a spoon of her hot soup.
"Hmm, nice," Ezekiel muttered as he continued eating.
"You are such a good cook," Ezekiel complimented.
"I won't take all the credit, Alexa taught me some few things," Evie said.
Ezekiel stared at Evie and one thing he liked about her was her innocence, she was so free as the air and also bold, that was what attracted her to him. Initially, he married her to satisfy his mother and when her time elapses, he would divorce her but now, he doesn't know what is going on anymore. The more he gets to know her, the more he wants her to stay by him. He knew this was risky especially for her, he had a lot of enemies that wouldn't mind killing Evie. The sudden urge to protect her grew in his mind, he would double the security personnels around her.
He knew a war would soon break out, he could feel it in his bones but all he could do was to wait for the war so it could end those useless creatures, their existence was a terrible mistake. That was why he must protect Evie at all costs.
"Hey Ezekiel, why are you staring at me this way?" Evie asked with creased brows.
"I was thinking Evelynn, you had been breaking your rules since, so what do you think is your punishment?" Ezekiel asked dangerously, causing Evie to gulp.
Trouble is around the corner.
