Alexa left the sitting room as the ladies made themselves comfortable on the sofa.
"So tell me, how did you get Ezekiel to agree about you coming to our place?" Evie asked.
"I just asked, that is all," Lily replied, sipping the wine Alexa had served them.
"This husband of mine would never agree to a request unless you threatened him," Evie argued.
"Chill Evie, all I did was to give him reasons why we should visit and your considerate husband agreed," Sandra was the one who talked.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Why are you guys here?" She asked.
"I was wondering too, because Lily also invited me and I don't know what up with her excitement," Juicy who was beside Evie chipped in.
"We are going out and then I will relay the good news," Lily looked like a kid who just received candy from her mom.
"Alright," Sandra readily agreed, she also wanted to know the cause of her friend's happiness.
The girls left after Evie changed into something more decent and pleasant.
Lily drove them to a restaurant and by the looks of the restaurant, it was expensive.
The whole restaurant was empty as the girl looked around and made themselves comfortable on the seats available.
"I booked the whole restaurant for us," Lily announced.
"Seriously? You shouldn't have," Evie reprimanded her as they gathered around a table.
"Okay Lily, let the cat out the bag," Juicy demanded after a while watching Lily grin like an idiot.
"Fine," she agreed and opened her clutch bag and brought out a diamond ring.
"I am getting married to the love of my life!" Lily announced with happiness in her tone.
"I am getting married in three weeks time," Lily added.
The girls stiffened for a while because they didn't see that coming.
"I know I caught all of you off guard, the truth is that, Ken and I had been together for two years now and we want to tie the knot, moreover I love him so much," Lily went further to explain not knowing that someone was deeply affected by that speech and she felt like crying.
"I am so happy for you," Sandra hugged her so tight.
"I know," Lily's face beamed with a smile.
"Congratulations Lily, you deserve it," came Juicy's words.
"You are one in a million and you deserve to be loved," Evie added, trying hard not to tear up.
"And guess the best part?" Lily asked, her friends looked at each other and none of them could come up with an answer.
"I am two weeks pregnant!" Lily said with all happiness.
"What?!" The girls yelled simultaneously, there was this unbelievable look on their faces.
"You are carrying a baby?" Evie asked, pointing at Lily's stomach.
"Yep," Lily replied, happily caressing her stomach.
"The feeling is overwhelming, Ken and I loved each other for the past two years and now we are expecting a baby, it feels unreal. I can't wait for the next chapter of my life as a mother. The joy of motherhood especially with my little baby cradled in my arms and the love of my life beside me. This is going to be the best episode of my life!" Lily exclaimed not knowing she added to a certain someone's fury.
"Wow Lily, I am happy for you," Sandra hugged her again but this time she was careful not to hurt the baby by mistake.
"So what is going on in your lives?" Lily asked.
"Well, I really don't have time for my love life for now but I hope to work on it soon," Sandra replied.
"Love life? I am the busiest business woman on earth and I don't have time for that," Juicy joked and they all laughed well except for Evie.
"Well, there is this person who makes me have butterflies in my belly, it is a newfound feeling and I have to figure it out," Juicy added.
"Well, as you all know, I am in an arranged marriage, nothing more, nothing less," Evie stated.
"I was hoping to get the news that you are pregnant," Sandra said, causing Evie to choke on her drink.
"I need to leave, thanks for your time Lily and I wish you a happy married life," Evie said as she gathered her things to leave.
"Evie wait," Sandra wanted to stop her but Juicy held her arm.
"Why are you stopping me Juicy? I did the most ridiculous thing by asking her that question," Sandra yelled.
"I agree with you on that part," Lily added bluntly.
"Let her be for now, she would come around," Juicy said more calmly before she stood up to leave as well.
"We should reschedule this for another day, you know we have a lot of things to plan, especially the bachelorette party," Juicy said, winking at Lily.
Evie boarded a taxi back home, all the way home, she kept crying.
She was crying because her life was pathetic, while others got to be with their love, she was in a loveless arranged marriage.
She didn't even know when she was going to be a mother, she did not know what love tastes like.
She closed her eyes to prevent more tears from falling, but it didn't stop at all.
The cab finally pulled up in front of her house and got paid, but what the driver never expected was when a bundle of money was given to him.
"Madam, this is too much, the fee is just…"
"Take everything, I don't need the change," Evie told him.
"Thank you very much madam, thank you so much," the driver appreciated.
"You are very much welcome," Evie acknowledged his appreciation.
"I would never forget this gesture in a hurry," the man kept on appreciating her.
"What is your name?" Evie asked.
"Isaac," the man replied.
"Alright, nice to meet you Isaac," Evie said and alighted from the taxi.
She walked inside the main building to the sitting room and slumped on the couch.
She shut her eyes and shoved her hands through her hair, trying to calm herself down.
Just then, she felt someone's presence in the room and she opened her eyes which gave view to Ezekiel staggering towards the sofa.
Something was off about the way Ezekiel looked, he looked pale, as if he was sick.
Evie did not think twice as she got up and walked over to him and felt his body temperature.
"Ezekiel! You have a high temperature!" Evie exclaimed.
