"Evelynn Tan!" Ezekiel muttered tapping his finger on the sofa, what was so special about this girl?
She was fearless, that was what he liked, at least she was not like other his bride candidates that were afraid of him.
A notification beeped on his phone and he checked it.
"Evelynn Dora Tan, the only child of the Tan family, heiress of the Tan corporation, twenty-five years old, attended the City's college and now an upcoming hip hop musical artist."
'Just that?' Ezekiel was not satisfied with the information, there was nothing much about the girl.
Sighing he kept his phone on the table beside him and got lost in his thinking.
After some minutes of an internal battle with his mind, he left his room to the sitting room where his mother was, as usual, ranting about him not wanting to get married.
His gaze landed on her before Paul, who was trying his best to calm the angered Mrs Owens down but only his efforts were in vain.
Ezekiel did not bother to calm his mother down, instead, he took an apple from the fruit basket and ate it.
He sat on the couch, his legs crossed staring at his mother.
"I would marry her," he announced and that seemed to stop Mrs Owens from ranting, did she hear wrong?
"What did you say?" She asked him pretending as if she did not hear him.
"I said I would get married to her," he spoke again, this time much more slowly.
Alice's face lit up like a full moon, the son just agreed to get married.
"Owen junior," she called him by his nickname, "are you for real?" She asked unable to comprehend what just he said.
"Yes," Ezekiel replied coldly like he was forced to say yes.
Alice screamed in happiness, her only child would finally get married and they would take what was rightfully theirs.
Ezekiel walked back to his room, leaving his mom all happy and jovial, that was the least he could do for his mother, she had been trying hard to make sure that the kingdom is safe and so that his stepmother would not have her way.

Evie woke up thanks to the annoying alarm, but she could not remember setting an alarm. She hated alarms with passion.
"Oh my goodness! Why do you have to ring now?" Evie asked, frustration taken over.
She just had the sweetest dream of her life where she wins the world's best musical artist, her lips curved into a smile but the smile vanished the moment she remembered that she was getting married.
As much as she did not want to join her parents to eat breakfast, she knew that her body needed food, she hissed and headed for the dining.
"Good morning my sunshine," her father greeted her first with a broad smile on his face like he has won a lottery.
"Good morning my baby girl," her mother greeted as well, what was going on? What made her parents this happy?
She took out a seat and sat beside her father, her focus was on her meal.
"You know you have made mummy the happiest mom on planet earth," her mother stated but Evie did not utter a word.
"I am lucky to have a darling like you, a daughter like no other," her father praised.
Was this a way of getting her to agree to marry Ezekiel? They must be out of their mind thinking she would fall for their words.
"I was blessed with only a child but this child is better than ten million children," her mother chipped in.
"I always knew she would never disappoint me, she has the Tan blood running through her veins," her father smiled.
"What is going on?" Evie was forced to ask, her mother's face beamed with a smile while her father caressed her cheeks.
"Ezekiel has agreed to marry you," Richard announced causing Evie to choke on her tea
Ezekiel has agreed to marry her? After their first encounter that did not end well, why would he marry her? He was supposed to hate her and not agree to marry her.
"Did you charm him?" Sonia asked and Evie flew dagger eyes to her, can they not understand? She is not interested in this marriage.
"As long as Ezekiel has agreed to marry you, there is no option of rejection from you," Richard told her. This was a lost battle for her, her parents were hellbent on getting her married.
"Can I ask for one request? If you guys agree I would marry Ezekiel," Evie knew she had to do something about her career.
"What is it?" Her mother asked.
"I have a concert in Singapore, my first largest crowd of about twenty thousand people, they are all waiting for me, I promised them that I would not disappoint them, so dad, mom, if you agree to let me go for my concert, I would marry Ezekiel and that also means I would be off the music industry," her throat hurt while she said all those things.
Is this how her career would end?
She stared at her parents hoping that they would say something.
"Is this a way of you running?" Her father asked.
"No dad, as I said I would return and get married to Ezekiel," she replied.
"How are we sure you would return?" Her father asked
"I would return dad, please just grant me this request," Evie pleaded.
"We would let you go for your concert, there and then you would announce you would be off the music industry because you have lots of responsibilities as the heiress of one of the world's most famous companies, are we clear?" Sonia asked and Evie only nodded in agreement.
Evie thanked her parents and left the dining room, she had instantly become full after hearing that Ezekiel wants to marry her.
Why was her life this bad? 'Someone please save me!' She yelled internally.
