Sonia felt a pang of jealousy when she saw her daughter with Eric, how she related with Eric easily.
"Eric show her to her room, she might not be able to locate it, you know that there have been a lot of renovations lately," Sonia stated, interrupting their discussion.
"Yes ma'am, this way Evie," he said leading her to her room.
Her room was beyond fascinating, her mother did a wonderful job designing the interiors, and Sonia made use of her favourite colours ~ champagne gold and coffee brown
She landed on the bed, looking up at the ceiling and smiling, eight long years! It has been such a long time.

"Dad!" Evie ran to hug her father who was sitting on the couch in the living room.
"Evie!" He uttered before engulfing her in a warm hug, Evie did not know that she missed her father's hug so much until now, it felt so good!
They broke the hug, staring at each other, "Evie!" He was still in disbelief that this was his daughter, she had grown so big.
"It has been a good eight years since I last saw you, I am amazed," her father spoke proudly.
"Thanks daddy," she hugged him again but briefly.
"Dinner is ready," Sonia announced and the duo made their way toward the dining room.
"It has been quite a long while since we ate as a family," Sonia stated remembering those days when Evie was out of the country and her husband came back home late at night, she was forced to eat alone and even sleep before her husband arrives.
"I am so happy to see you again," Evie said munching her food.
"Me too," her father uttered under his breath but loud enough for everyone to hear.
Evie ate her food peacefully, she did not notice the glances her parents were exchanging, she was oblivious to what they were thinking.
'Is it the right time to tell Evie?' Richard asked his wife via text message, Sonia got a notification on her phone and checked it up.
'No! Let her enjoy herself first, maybe tomorrow we would break the news to her,' Sonia replied and they continued eating.
"So dad, mum why did you guys ask me to come home urgently?" Evie was curious to know what they wanted from her.
"Are you not happy that you are with us here?" Sonia asked, her tone sounding a little bit hurt.
"No mother, it's not the way you view it, it is just that I want to know why I am back," Evie added trying to soothe her mother.
"Evie, we would talk about some stuff tomorrow, right now you need to rest," her father reassured her.
"Alright dad, see you guys in the morning," Evie bided them goodnight before retiring to her room.
Evie's eyes adjusted to the rays of sunlight flashing in through the curtains, she yawned, and stretched before climbing off bed.
Today was a new day and she going to make the best of it. Only if she knew what was in store for her.
After refreshing herself, she made her way to the sitting room and found her dad sitting leisurely on the sofa with his laptop on his laps.
"Good morning dad," she greeted causing Richard to gaze at her.
"Good morning darling, how was your night?" He asked.
"It was cool dad and yours?" She asked.
"Very fantastic," he replied.
"Get yourself some food, we have something important to discuss later," Richard told her and she nodded her head in agreement.
There was nothing much for Evie to do, after eating, she found herself doing what she was best known for and that was songwriting. Soon she got bored and decided to check her page on social media.
There were a lot of disappointing messages and posts flooding on her page. Mia had already announced her absence from the music industry, and she felt hurt for disappointing her fans.
Not wanting to read more of the devastating posts, she switched off her phone and lay down on the bed, thinking of how she would handle her fans.
She just prayed that her parents tell her why she was back and if it is a problem, she would resolve it and go back to NewYork city and make it up to her fans.
It was already afternoon, and Evie had been in her room throughout, she then decided to take a stroll around the house.
When Evie reached the sitting room, she saw a lot of men, all were in black suits and they looked old.
She was surprised that her father was having a meeting in their house, her father rarely had meetings at home.
Her gaze connected with a pair of ocean blue eyes and for a moment she was struck, how could someone have such beautiful eyes? He was also handsome.
'Get it out of your head Evie!' She screamed inwardly and composed herself.
She greeted them and walked out, towards the garden, she spent about an hour there.
She was already getting tired of doing nothing, she was a busy woman, who wanted to be creating songs now and then but now she was idle and it felt so awkward for her.
"Sweetheart," she heard her mother's voice and whipped around to see her parents standing behind her.
"Come, we have something to discuss," her father added and Evie just nodded.
They made their way to the sitting room and settled in the chairs.
"Evie Tan, I must start by commending you about your performances lately, I am proud to have such a wonderful daughter like you. You are a rare gem and very difficult to find." Richard paused and continued,
"But despite everything, you are still lacking one thing," Richard muttered. The lines on Evie's forehead creased as she stared at her father.
"What he is trying to say is that you are not meeting up with your responsibilities. Despite the fact you are obsessed with music, you have responsibilities. You are the only daughter of the Tan family and the heiress of the Mega Tan Company, MTC," Sonia added.
"So where are you driving at?" Evie asked.
"What we are saying is that we want to merge the Owens Corporation with ours," her father replied.
"And how does that involves me?" Evie asked.
"We need you to get married to the heir of the company and that is Ezekiel Owen," they finally let the cat out of the bag.
This was the sole reason they asked her to return.
