Sasuke sat on the seat with a somber expression, and Naruto sat beside him, ready to discuss their future training plans. Naruto mainly wanted to ask Sasuke when he would get to see all the Uchiha clan's legacy scrolls of ninjutsu.
Just then, two beautiful girls burst into the classroom from opposite sides, shouting. When they saw Sasuke, they immediately ran over, eager to make an impression in front of him.
Seeing Sakura, Naruto's eyes lit up as he thought about asking her to teach him how to recognize illusions.
"Hey, Sakura!" Naruto greeted her with a smile.
"Go away!" Sakura suddenly grabbed Naruto by the collar and started dragging him to the aisle. Naruto's face changed, wanting to resist, but then he sensed a familiar presence—the Third Hokage's crystal ball watching them.
"Darn!" Naruto thought in frustration, deciding to let Sakura throw him aside without fighting back, acting dumbfounded.
No one noticed the cold look hidden beneath his glasses, directed not only at Sakura but also at the Third Hokage, filled with bitterness about his current situation. His desire to grow stronger grew even more.
"Good morning, Sasuke!" Sakura stood in front of Sasuke, hands on her heart and blushing. "Can I sit beside you?"
Sasuke glanced at Naruto sitting on the floor and frowned slightly, feeling the pain in his neck from Naruto's earlier kick.
Seeing Sakura take the lead, Ino also tried to sit beside Sasuke, sparking a small fight among the girls, each wanting to be near him.
Sasuke rubbed his side where Naruto had just kicked him, frowning and muttering, "So annoying!"
Naruto watched this with a smirk, thinking, "Guess I'm not the only one fawning over someone."
Naruto suddenly jumped onto the desk in front of Sakura, looking at her with serious eyes. Startled, Sakura wanted to back away, but the other girls had her surrounded, so she could only stare at Naruto, who was standing right in front of her. If this had been Sasuke, she would've eagerly leaned forward, but this was Naruto, the one she couldn't stand.
Naruto glanced at Ino, who understood his intentions and gave him a sly grin, snapping a quick photo from behind.
"MUA!" Naruto achieved his goal, kissing Sakura on her peach-colored lips and giving Ino a thumbs-up behind his back. "Nice work, Ino!"
Sakura's mind went blank, almost fainting. She couldn't believe her first kiss was taken by someone she disliked.
"Naruto! I'm going to kill you!" Sakura, her face red with rage, clenched her fists and swung at Naruto with all her strength.
Naruto laughed and dodged behind Sasuke, pushing the unsuspecting Sasuke toward Sakura. Sasuke tried to brace himself, but Naruto held onto his arms tightly.
Realizing her punch was about to land on Sasuke, Sakura tried to stop but couldn't.
Boom! Sasuke's head hit the ground.
The classroom fell silent as everyone stared at Sakura in shock.
"I-I'm sorry, Sasuke-kun," Sakura stammered, pale with regret.
Sasuke raised his head, glaring at Sakura in disgust and then at Naruto in anger. Ten minutes ago, Naruto had attacked him in the restroom, leaving him sore, and now he was hurt even more.
As soon as Iruka-sensei arrived, the class quickly quieted down. Naruto sat on Sasuke's right, with a teary-eyed Sakura on his other side.
"Congratulations, from today onward, you're all officially ninjas!" Iruka said to the class with a smile. "But remember, you're only rookie Genin, and the real challenges are just beginning."
He glanced at Naruto before continuing, "Starting now, you'll be placed in teams of three under the guidance of a Jonin instructor."
The students murmured in excitement.
Naruto looked curious and surprised.
"Teams of three?" Sasuke muttered, then glanced at Naruto, sensing he might already know something.
Sakura glanced over, ignoring Naruto, and focused on Sasuke, hoping desperately she'd be in his team and not with Naruto.
"Now, I'll announce the teams," Iruka began, reading from his roster.
"Team Seven: Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura…" Sakura's face dropped in dismay.
Naruto, having anticipated this, cheered when he heard Sakura's name.
Iruka sighed and continued, "And Uchiha Sasuke in Team Seven."
"YES!" Sakura's disappointment instantly turned into excitement.
Naruto, unbothered, turned and playfully shook his fist at Sasuke, who glared back at him.
After finishing the assignments, Iruka added, "Your Jonin instructor will arrive in the afternoon. Until then, you're free to move around."
Once Iruka left, the Third Hokage's surveillance ended. Relieved, Naruto turned to the back of the classroom, where he had felt a steady gaze.
"It's little Hinata!" Naruto thought with a smile, remembering her loyal affection from the original story.
"Hey, Hinata!" he called, and she immediately turned beet red and ducked her head shyly.
"Well, Hinata, you really are shy!" Naruto muttered, preparing to walk over to her.
He turned to Sakura beside him, saying, "Excuse me."
Thinking he wanted to speak to her, Sakura scowled, "Naruto, just because we're in the same team doesn't mean you can interfere between Sasuke and me!"
Naruto raised an eyebrow, replying, "I'm not the same Naruto you knew. Don't think too highly of yourself. We'll see who's the real burden!"
"What did you say?" Sakura retorted, rolling her eyes.
Ignoring her, Naruto stepped over the desk and made his way to Hinata.
He didn't resent Sakura completely—she was just infatuated with Sasuke, and her loyalty wouldn't waver, no matter what he did. No matter how much Naruto achieved, she would never see him that way.
But Naruto was reminded of how Sakura only ever called for him when she needed his help for Sasuke, and when she didn't, it was as if he didn't exist. This was part of why Naruto had grown cold toward her now.
