Chapter 4 - Magical Start

--[Sanctuary]--

A divine place, secluded and hidden from the world, residing in the sky above the sky.

A glass vial filled with a crystal red liquid sits on the table.

An unknown man wearing a mask sits nearby, staring at the glass vial, his thoughts unknown.

"Another failed subject." The masked man calls upon his apostle. "Enoch, keep searching for the child."

"Understood."

--[Duke's Study]--

"I've decided to enroll you both to Darkheart Imperial Academy."

"What!"

"What!"

Darkheart is located at the center of the world and is the only place in the abyss that has no racial discrimination. There reside Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Zombies, Demons, and Ghosts.

Darkheart Imperial Academy is the best in the world. Due to it being found by the 6 great kings each being at the pinnacle of their associated race, the power hidden within the academy is on par with each of the 6 royal families; giving it significant standing within the abyss.

Light and Eris are both confused though.

High ranking nobles have no reason to study at an academy. It's actually more efficient to self-study, using the resources that the household can provide. Having a high-ranking tutor and a more specialized training regime is far better than going to an academy which is more generalized and less resourceful.

"Isn't it better to stay here?"

"It would be, but after what happened here it would be better to stay hidden somewhere more protected. I already gave both of you hidden identities and have enrolled you to the commoner class." Saying this Lenon gives both of them an ID card showing their name and face.

Checking their ID, Light and Eris get mad due to their new identities not being ideal. "Huh, why commoner. There's no point in being there if we don't even learn anything."

"I wish for you two to not get complacent by being nobles, and that you will always find people who are more talented than you."

"Still, I don't want a bunch of snobby nobles making fun of me for being a commoner."

Remembering his son's habit of making excuses, Lenon changes his method of persuasion.

"Do you remember what happened in the basement?

Flashback start

'What is this smell, how can someone's blood smell this good? Why does it make me want to take a bite out of him, ssp, ssp." Due to the euphoric smell of his blood, Enoch slowly falls into temptation. "It won't hurt to take a bite, just a bite."

"Wait, wait, wait, what are you doing!" Light starts to panic as he notices the intense desire within the man's eyes. Light recognized the look in those eyes, as a certain wolf in sheep's clothing had the same exact look when attempting the act of drawing blood. "I shouldn't have trusted what you said, you guys are just a group of bloodsucking perverts. Light points the sword towards the fiendish man completely different from his holy counterpart. "Stay back or I'll use this."

"Stay calm child, it'll be over in an instant."

"Nooooo! Someone help!"

A figure breaks through the door, entering the room with a cold look in his eyes.

"You dare to harm my child."

Flashback end

---

"Yeah, you have a point, but it's a shame that he ran away before you could do anything to him."

"I'll give you two options, the academy or Duke Grant's place."

"I'll go, I'll go, anything but that." Thinking of having to stay there, Light habitually made various escape plans. Due to a certain wolf, Light frequently made escape plans in order to not die.

Everything is fine until Light suddenly remembers.

He doesn't know how to use magic.

--[Duke's Study]--

At this moment, Loren's wife, Lisanna enters the room.

They both look out the window, watching their kids enter the carriage.

Both of them watch with a look of unease on their face.

"Do you think they'll be alright?"

"They should be fine; I doubt the two of them would do anything stupid."

...

"You sure about that?"

...

"No..."

"...."

--[Darkheart Imperial Academy]--

"Light Ardent..."

Hearing his name called, Light walks into the room. In the room a young woman of unknown age is sitting next to a massive crystal ball. The space around the woman is covered in stars, as if each star in the world projected itself inside the room. Light curiously looks around the room, questioning the identity of the woman and wondering how this was possible. 'Is this the power of magic?'

"Place your hand on the orb."

Light, suppressing his desire to learn about magic, carefully places his palm onto the crystal orb. The crystal orb turns crystal blue for a brief second before turning into a bright white light. The young woman, surprised about the blue light, ponders for a moment before announcing the results. 'Could he be part of that family, sigh, things are going to get chaotic.'

"Light Ardent, Null affinity."

'Wait, what?'
