Chapter 5 - Darkheart Imperial Academy

--[Darkheart Imperial Academy]--

"Light Ardent..."

Hearing his name called, Light walks into the room. In the room a young woman of unknown age is sitting next to a massive crystal ball. The space around the woman is covered in stars, as if each star in the world projected itself inside the room. Light curiously looks around the room, questioning the identity of the woman and wondering how this was possible. 'Is this the power of magic?'

"Place your hand on the orb."

Light, suppressing his desire to learn about magic, carefully places his palm onto the crystal orb. The crystal orb turns crystal blue for a brief second before turning into a bright white light. The young woman, surprised about the blue light, ponders for a moment before announcing the results. 'Could he be part of that family, sigh, things are going to get chaotic.'

"Light Ardent, Null affinity."

'Wait, what?'

---

Two days ago

"Ugh, I'm soooooo bored." A white blob says while lying on the side of the carriage.

"Yeah, tell me about it." A black blob says while lying on the other side of the carriage.

"How long have we been here for?"

"I dunno, 3 years."

...

"Do you know when we get there?"

"no..."

---

A moment later...

"Are we there yet?"

"no..."

---

1 day...

"Are we there yet?"

"No..."

---

1 day 12 hours...

"Are we there yet?"

"NO..."

---

1 day 22 hours...

"Are we there yet?"

"NO!"

From outside the carriage a voice is heard.

"We're here."

"...."

"...."

---

--[Darkheart city]--

"Hey! Are you both new here?"

After passing through the gates of the city the young duo hear a voice calling them from inside.

A middle-aged man walks up to them and introduces himself. Having trimmed facial hair and wearing leather clothes with a utility belt, he looks more like an adventurer than a tourist guide.

"Ello, my names Oliver and I am the "Greatest Tourist Guide in the World", you can see for yourselves in the newest issue of the New Moon Magazine."

Judging by his outgoing personality and loud voice that shouts I'm a scammer, it's very unlikely that anything he said was true, but to Light and Eris he seemed to be oozing confidence and charisma.

Light and Eris are unfamiliar with the outside world due to their isolated life inside the Duke's mansion. This in addition to their very young makes them both naive and prone to scams.

"New Moon Magazine?"

"What! You haven't heard about it. It's a magazine that contains forbidden content and is produced by the "New Moon club" in Darkheart Academy. Apparently, the club was found by a group of highly influential witches that wanted to make a profit by selling classified information, but now almost anyone that passes their test can join.

"Forbidden content."

"We're actually going to be students of Darkheart Academy, so can you tell us other things about the place."

"Only if you pay me extra."

Light and Eris, excited about learning new and interesting things pull out a bag filled with drachmas.

The excitement in their eyes reminds Oliver of his kid back in Wolfshire. 'Since they're going to the academy, I'll only charge them for the information."

A shiny mass of silver fills the view of the dumbfounded tour guide.

"The total will cost ya 20 drachmas." Quickly taking 20 drachmas, Oliver hurriedly closes the bag of coins. Oliver gives advice to the two kids before the tour starts. "You shouldn't open your bag like that in the future, just grab the amount it costs yourself."

The tour guide was a good person.

--[Cafe]--

"This is the cafe, but I doubt you'll ever go here."

"Why... is this place that bad?"

"You can think of it that way."

--[Blacksmith]--

"This is the blacksmith, though most of the high-quality ones are owned by Dwarves.

"Dwarves?"

"You don't know, ever since the queen of Succubi, Meridith, hatched a scheme to obtain the craftsmanship of the Dwarves, they've been living here ever since. Surprisingly, instead of being hated most of them are exalted and praised for their craftsmanship.

"Do you know what happened?"

"I don't know personally, but there's a lot of books covering the events of what happened."

--[Town Square]--

"Do you two know about the vampire royal succession?"

"Mhm, the Ambrose family kicks their children out until they can prove their qualifications to be king."

The Ambrose family kicks their children out at the age of fourteen to build a power. Once qualified the outside power consolidates and is added to the other forces of the royal family. This is one of the reasons why the Ambrose family is the top powerhouse of the vampire clan.

"About that, I heard that one of the royal princes will be attending here."

Curious as to where someone can get that information, Eris questions Oliver. "What, really! Where did you hear that from?"

"That's a secret."

--[Darkheart Academy gate]--

A massive crowd is seen in front of the academy gate, children from the 6 great races are all waiting for the gate to open. People of all backgrounds are grouped together and excitedly chatting about the upcoming year, except for some prideful nobles that don't want to associate with others.

"It seems that this is where we part ways. Don't forget to leave a good review."

Waving his hand goodbye, the man disappears from their sight.

Out of nowhere an ethereal voice is heard, and the gate slowly opens as the newest year of Darkheart Academy begins.

"Welcome to Darkheart Imperial Academy."
