Chapter 15 - Chapter 14: Unexpected Encounter with the Villain

'What the hell is going on this time? Please don't make it anything dangerous. This is my first tour!' Loraine internally complained.

First, someone with a more powerful background happens to be here before her. Now, something like this happened while they were in the forest.

Loraine was beginning to doubt if her carefree life would ever be possible.

'Wait! Aren't the people on the left side leaving this morning?

Don't tell me….

Could it be they came here to kill people and leave them in the forest?!

Did they intentionally do it when we were here so they could push the blame on us?!

I can't let that happen!

How can I live my carefree life if my family here gets framed for murder?'

Loraine was beginning to have conspiracy theories from all the novels she had read in her past life.

"Could it be something dangerous?" Loraine inquired in a whisper.

"Perhaps. Or they got into an accident. Let's just wait for the two who went to check the situation," Mr. Mo replied.

After a few minutes, the men who had gone to investigate the situation returned and reported what they had discovered.

"Miss Loraine, it appears that they were the people staying on the left side.

We saw the guard who always walked in and out of the house, carrying a heavily injured man.

Most of their people are injured to some degree.

It appears that they were escaping from their pursuers.

They only have seven people left," her guards informed.

'Oh my, so they are the ones who got attacked?' Loraine's conspiracy theory was far off.

"Did you see their pursuers? It's not the cops, right?"

She was sure she didn't hear any sirens though.

Cops usually make it sound to alarm people so they would not get caught in the situation.

"No, Miss. We didn't see them.

But if it were the cops, they would have deployed helicopters here.

There would have been the sound of their sirens. But there aren't.

Their pursuers most likely haven't entered the forest yet.

We immediately returned because the people staying on the left side would reach us in about two minutes," one of her guards quickly informed her.

"What a troublesome situation.

Mr. Mo, is it still possible to get out unnoticed by them?" Loraine inquired with a frown.

'I feel bad for the injured people.

But I don't want to get involved in any of this.

What if they were criminals running from other criminals?

Then, wouldn't we end up as part of the crime if we get involved here?

I don't want to die yet!'

Loraine wanted to leave as soon as possible or hide somewhere so they wouldn't be noticed.

"No, Miss. They are already too close.

I think they have noticed us already. But their pursuers shouldn't be aware of us," Mr. Mo crushed her hopes of just leaving this place silently without getting noticed.

"How troublesome," Loraine couldn't help but mutter.

"Our apologies, Miss.

We will be more careful next time.

Rest assured that we will protect you no matter what," Mr. Mo said.

"Ah, I'm not angry or anything.

I just don't want to get involved in any trouble.

But it seems it's too late," Loraine quickly clarified. "Then, let's wait and see if they're going to approach us."

The others agreed.

If the ones staying on the left side simply pass by them as if they weren't there, then very good.

If they approach them, they have no choice but to act by then.

They spoke in whispers and were not saying their names anymore since they might be heard in case there were people with strong hearing from the left side people.

Loraine certainly hoped that the people staying on their left side would detour, knowing that they were here.

But her hope didn't come true.

She could already see some figures making their way up to where they were.

'Why come here?!' Loraine wanted to bark at them.

However, she remained silent when she saw clearly.

They were clearly in a difficult situation.

'Oh my goodness! Their pursuers must be set to kill them!'

Loraine felt a cold chill run down her back.

All of them were injured in some way.

The man being carried had sustained the most injury and was soaked in his blood.

Loraine's guards prepared their weapons and everyone on the other side except for the one carrying the most injured man raised their hands to warn that they do not intend any harm.

He must be the one the people on the left side had been guarding since their eyes were filled with alarm and plea as they eyed Loraine and her guards.

Loraine felt a lump in her throat at the way these people looked at her.

They immediately knew she was the person in command here judging from how protective her guards were acting.

And thus, they were imploring her with their eyes, without even saying a word, to please help them.

Lorraine could almost repeatedly hear the words, "Please help us," in her mind at how they looked at her.

Loraine gulped and looked at the man to see if she could recognize him.

'He looks familiar.

Have I seen him somewhere before?

Is he an acquaintance of the original owner?' Loraine wondered.

She had a feeling she had seen this man before but she couldn't remember where.

Meanwhile, Sarah seemed to recognize the man at first glance. She was the first among them to recognize him.

Noticing that Loraine was still trying to recognize the man, Sarah immediately wrote his name on a notepad she had always carried and showed it to her.

'Alistair Hilton,' was what Sarah wrote on her notepad. 'He has business cooperation with your father.'

And unlike Loraine who didn't recognize the man immediately, when the man looked at her, there was recognition in his eyes.

Mr. Alistair Hilton knew who she was as soon as he saw her. And he was visibly relieved to learn that the person he met was not another enemy.
