Chereads / The Nephilim Trials: The Angel's Bite / Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Propositions

Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Propositions

Stupid hunter, idiotic expectations, ridiculous fate to be forced to commit to.

I was frustrated, completely overwhelmed;

I was hoping he would help me, and I would have a companion again.

It's not that I didn't like being alone all the time,

it was just better with someone else dealing with all this bullshit along with me.

"I'm always here for you my little treasure."

Asmodeus didn't help the situation,

"Shut up. You're the last company I'd want."

My frustration was rising into anger, and I needed to hunt,

I needed to transfer it, to feed.

"Your father would be so proud to see you in this light;

the essence he manifests." Was he toying with me again?

He knew my interest peaked at my parents and

I knew he would always crave my attention.

I didn't want to give him what he wanted, but I so badly wanted to know,

"Who could be the father of a fallen angel?

Is God not the father and creator of all angels?"

I always assumed I was created like the rest.

"Do something for me and I will tell you all you wish."

Of course, there was a catch to it, give and

take more is the main existence of a demon.

Shaking my head brushing him out of my head for the moment,

I went to get dressed choosing tight black skinny jeans,

a red lace corset shirt and a leather jacket.

As I stormed out of my apartment building Asmodeus couldn't help himself,

"Little dove I can start out small, all I ask for is a sweet succulent kiss."

He was annoying me, my anger sparked more,

and I stormed off down the street. The sun was setting,

and I felt like going to a night club this time.

The lights, the music, the crowd, would drown everything out.

Should I indulge? I have already begun,

so why not keep going for the experience.

My fuck-it-all attitude really came out when I was angry.

I wanted to drown; drown out my thoughts, my responsibilities,

drown all the demons I was holding in at the moment.

Sadly, alcohol didn't work on me as efficiently as it did on humans;

I assumed the other mind-altering substance would be similar.

I feel the substance influences for maybe five or ten minutes if I was lucky;

then nothing the rest of the night.

I could binge hard, and it'd come in five-minute waves but that's it.

As I walked up to the club, I flashed a flirtatious wink

and blew a kiss to the bouncer, he let me in with ease

as it was dead since the sun was just now setting.

I would sit and wait, like a predator stalking,

waiting for the right moment to strike her prey.

Sangui's favorite bartender was here, he had all the hookups

for everything you needed and details on almost anything.

"Azzie!" Tatsuya was always excited to see me since

I was often left with him as Sangui would go off to do business,

whether it be pleasure or professional.

"Hey Tatsy, long time no see, I know. Its just been hard since Sangui left."

Tatsuya was always bright and cheerful, which was very deceiving

as he was one of the most conniving and sneaky individuals

I have come to know, but I still appreciated his company and the gossip.

"Yes, a lot of talk has been going around about him indeed."

Tatsuya gave me a questioning look as he poured me

my favorite pear elderflower martini.

Taking a sip I raised my eyebrow, "And?" Only I knew the truth,

but I was curious what rumors were being spread.

"There are many really. One says he took off with some gal off to the Polynesian islands,

another says he finally lost his mind and took his own life,

or that he shipped out to the states to start a new cult there,

and lastly one says his title was finally taken and a Queen took his place.

You were closest to him, what do you think?"

Interesting, only one rumor deemed as slightly accurate.

"I think, they are all wrong. That's all I have to say."

The thing about Tatsuya, is that he was good at talking,

charming people to tell him anything, as if what they share

will never leave his mouth, but I always knew better than that.

"Oh Azzie, always keeping to yourself, I understand that.

You know my tactics better than most. I won't budge, but just so you know,

you have a seemingly Queen-like glow now. Be careful in places like this."

He gave a curious look then turned around as if it meant nothing.

How could he know the truth? He knew I was in love with Sangui,

why would he have any idea that I would be the one to kill him?

Downing my third drink and grabbing a fourth I started to notice

people finally start to fill the space of the club;

from the dance floor to the private rooms.

I could see multiple vampires' luminosity light like electricity in different areas,

my mouth beginning to salivate.

As I stood up, turning around to begin a perimeter check

one daring dark-skinned male, cleanly dressed up in a mahogany suit

approached me nonchalantly, "My, my.

I always find the most intriguing beings here in Tokyo.

I don't know what it is, but the draw towards you is almost addicting,

I find it to be intoxicatingly dangerous.

Thus, I was inquired to find out more as soon as my eyes gazed upon you.

I'm Khalan." He took my hand and laid a light kiss,

as his deep voice smoothed over the top.

As hungry as I was, the demon seething inside of him

was too strong for me to combine with Asmodeus,

I had to keep him for intel more than anything, and I knew exactly how.

Giving Khalan a light innocent filled gleam,

I brushed my hair behind my ears in a shy manner,

"You come on very confidently strong Khalan.

Quite refreshing from most timid men I come across.

It is nice to make your acquaintance. I'm Azzie."

I never gave my full name for obvious reasons.

I blinked sensually towards him as I let him speak,

"Ah yes, must be my heritage. You do seem awfully familiar though,

I wouldn't think I would ever forget such a lovely face as yours,

let alone such a tantalizing hair color. A noble familiarity it seems.

One I have only felt with…ah, never mind."

Was this the draw the hunter was referring to, could they see it in my blood?

I wasn't sure what to do now that the moment was reality.

Do I embrace the Queen title, or do I dismiss it and continue within the shadows.

If one vampire knew, then they all would;

but would they also put two and two together and find out

that I was both the vampire Queen and the one to eradicate them all?

"Khalan, do not dismiss a familiarity, what other feeling have you felt similar?

The only nobility I can relate to understanding such a feeling in our lineage is the King.

He has been long gone has he not?"

I wanted to test him, to see what he believed

and where he would stand with me.

"Yes, he is, without even any sense of a notice to one of his dear business cohorts.

That is why I have made myself come to the likes of Tokyo.

A wonderous change from what I am used to in Europe.

Although, even in his absence I am thoroughly enjoying myself here."

He took a sip of what looked like an old fashion.

"A very flattering resemblance, but I must say,

I know nothing of the Kings whereabout lately,

nor the next nobility to take his place."

I held his dark gleaming gaze as he took a seat beside the bar where I was standing,

"You should've thought about the repercussions beforehand. Sly little minx.

A fresh vampire may be persuaded otherwise but not I.

Alas, I am not here for vengeance, as much as I respected Sangui;

I am more so for an altered allegiance.

You just so happen to be too stunning for me to resist otherwise."

So, he did know; from the beginning even.

I never sensed an ounce of hostility, which was good.

With a vixen smile I continued, "I like your demeanor Khalan,

and I appreciate the forwardness.

Beating around the bush can be so…time consuming.

What biddings did you have with the King?

Perhaps a new proposition can be arranged?

I could use some assistance in a certain ancestral knowledge if your able?"

Khalan took a sip of his drink and pondered his next words,

propping his left arm to rest upon the bar counter he looked back at me,

"As much as I would love to trade a night out with that gorgeous little body of yours,

business matters deem more important at this time.

I have loads of access to ancestral knowledge, but it will cost you highly.

I am in need of a group of human children that I wish to raise.

I need to understand how to reproduce my vampire lineage in a new age way."

Freezing at his request I had to hide my shock as I smirked unfazed, taking another sip,

"You do realize, they won't age if you turn them young."

He touched my arm lightly and brushed against my skin with his thumb,

I had to stop myself from flinching or shuttering away,

"The way I go about it will be none of your concern.

Unless you are interested in the finished process. It is more experimental."

His voice was wishful and smooth with his request.

"With all your connections why can you not attain these children yourself?"

I was curious why he needed to come to the King or me for that matter.

"Because you have more resources and can do it in a more secluded fashion.

I need one of each ethnicity. I suppose you could say a new forming cult,

which noble permission is indeed required for.

Who best to attain cult members than nobility?"

I finally nodded in clarity as it all came together,

"Each bit of useful information you give me,

I will in turn trade for one child at a time. Fair?"

As unhappy as I was to be kidnapping children for a vampire, I didn't see any other way.

Nor was I sure how to find Sangui's same connections to attain the said children.

Khalan stood up and leaned to give me a kiss on the cheek,

"It is a deal your majesty. Our first successful agreement

followed through can assure my full loyalty towards you

in whatever you request in the future. I look forward to our ever-growing relationship."

I gave a respectful nod, "We will be in touch Khalan. Enjoy the rest of your night."
