"You are going back there?" Samantha frustratedly asked. She had one hand propped up on her hips and the other on her forehead.
She looked worried, to say the least.
"Yes, she is." Her brother answered instead.
"I didn't ask you, you moron. You are the one insisting she go. Weren't you worried about her going to Carys' house in the first place? What happened to you now?" Samantha balled her fist.
"I was, but now I think it is best that she go there. She is out of suspicion. She can go there and breach their security easily, without any effort." Tony explained and took a seat by the kitchen stool.
"You are not getting any food here. Go back to your apartment." Samantha walked out of the kitchen, leaving behind a terribly hungry Tony.
Tony had his reasons to push Mia to go to the Jones residence. Last time, when Mia returned from Carys' house, Tony had seen her. There was a reason why Mia couldn't plant that audio tracker in Carys' house. Tony was positive that it had something to do with Carys rather than the fact that Mia was almost caught.
He had known Mia since they were five. He was aware that Mia was someone who had never given up. She was someone who was not afraid of anything. When she put her mind to something, she would eventually do it, even if it meant planting an audio tracker with the bodyguard right in front of her.
He knew that there was more to this story.
He also was thinking about the shooting that happened at the art gallery. When he heard the news, he wanted to run there barefoot, but Samantha stopped him. He wanted to run and save his 'friend', but then she walked into the apartment after just a few minutes.
She had this expression on her face, which was almost unreadable. It felt like she had seen horror, but not the horror of guns and bullets firing.
She went straight to the couch and put on the TV with that same expression. Tony refrained from saying anything to her because he had known her enough to know when she close the curtains from the outside world. She was in her shell like she had been after her father was killed.
"Mia, you are not going there again." Samantha had broken apart Tony's thoughts when she sat down right next to Mia on the couch.
"And why is that?" Mia asked her and she sighed. "Leo, back me up here." Samantha turned her head to look at Leo, who had been busy with his phone.
He walked up to the couch when his name was mentioned by Samantha. "Pericolosa, when are you planning to visit the target?" He asked, stepping in front of the couch.
"Leo!" Samantha yelled and then narrowed her eyebrows at the giant bodyguard.
"I am sorry, sugar, but this is a serious mission. You don't understand how helpful that audio tracker can be to us." He tried to reason his support but Samantha was adamant, for her nothing was more important than her friend. She could give herself up for Mia when the time comes.
"Don't you guys see the problems and loopholes in this mission? Carys' bodyguard is already suspicious of Mia. He will definitely ask Mia to go through security." Samantha explained her worry and, to an extent, it felt like a serious issue for both Leo and Tony.
"Don't try to make decisions on my behalf." Mia has finally spoken up. She crossed her hands in front of her chest and tried to consider the things that were been spoken in the room a second before.
She understood Tony and Leo, but strangely, she also understood Samantha. She was aware of the consequences she could face if her audio tracker was caught by security. What was the guarantee that Carys' bodyguard will let her skip the security because she just saved his life?
However, she also couldn't stop thinking about the way Carys stopped his security last time when she went over to his house.
"I am considering the possibility of them finding this audio tracker in my pocket," Mia announced to the room. The three pairs of eyes desperately looked at her, with their own expectations.
"Stop looking at me," Mia said and rested her head back. The ceiling looked more interesting than these faces to her. They relied too much on her.
Mia sometimes would think to herself about giving up all that she had going on. In Italy and now in New York, she would be lying if she said that she loved having authority over people. These people who look up to her for any little inconvenience made her responsible. They made her their God. A False God, again.
Even when she was now facing the ceiling, she could feel their eyes on her. They were engraving her every little movement into their minds. They were desperate for her to do something, say something. All she wanted was to say nothing.
Mia took a deep breath, and it felt like oxygen was just sucked out from the three pairs of lungs present in the room right then.
Mia sat straight up and finally said, "I am honestly reconsidering going to his house."
"Mia, you don't have to go if you don't feel like that." Samantha was quick to comfort the leader. She knew that the ball was in her court. She wanted Mia to side with her, just this once. She was worried about Mia meeting Carys too often, mingling with him, and knowing him more. Carys made her anxious.
"But I am also sure that this could be a golden chance for us. We could easily breach their data with the help of the audio tracker." Mia said and picked up the small device laying on the coffee table. She looked at it and closed it in her fist.
"Robert will reward the serpents with more than we can ever imagine." Tony entered the living room and stood right next to Leo.
"Let's assume the worst." Mia suddenly stood up from the couch. "What if I get caught by security? Do we have a backup, Tony?" She asked and faced Tony.
Tony's hands were already sweaty. Mia made everyone nervous, even her childhood friend. He curled his bottom lip into his teeth and took a minute to gather a thought.
"If you take this long to save your leader, then she will be dead-"
"Scrap the audio tracker!" Tony cut Mia off and immediately pulled out his phone.
The others looked at Tony in curiosity. He quickly touched some buttons on his phone screen and showed it to Mia standing in front of him.
"Let us use this instead." He suggested.
Samantha jumped towards her brother and peeked into the screen. "Is it the app that we are working on?" She straight away recognised the application that was opened on her brother's phone.
Tony nodded, and Mia looked at the siblings in astonishment. "What is going on here?"
"We were working on an application that could hack security cameras. This amazing app works on basically nothing. You just need to install it on your mobile device and take it near the security cameras that you need to hack." Samantha started explaining the working of the system. She had always been tech-savvy.
"It works on a BlueTooth system. When you will take it near the security cameras, we will access the signals of the cameras from our computer. This app works as a bridge between the security cameras and our computers." Tony continued. "We can use this to access Carys' security cameras."
"This will also save you in case there is a security check at the Jones residence." Leo was impressed.
Mia had always believed in Tony ever since she was young. Even when she was young, Tony had saved her life once. That one particular incident has helped Mia to get where she was right now. It made her Pericolosa. Tony was her saviour, a real one. She would not say that to his face though, she would never have the guts. It might make her too vulnerable.
"I knew you could come up with something." Mia appreciated Tony and gave him a pat on his shoulder.
With one touch from Mia, Tony felt like he had accomplished his mission and Carys' was already annihilated.
"But we have not sampled it yet, Mia. I don't really know if it will work." Samantha informed.
"We don't take chances here, Sugar. If you have not tested it yet, then you will test it when I go over to Carys' house. We need this chance or else we will head nowhere in this mission." Mia replied. Mia could not take any chances now. Carys was already in the limelight due to the shooting incident.
It was a miracle that Carys decided to not give any interviews for the shooting. Mia was reluctantly thankful to Carys for not mentioning her name anywhere.
