Chereads / Pericolosa / Chapter 26 - 26

Chapter 26 - 26

It looked like this day would go on forever to Mia. The people inside the club were loud and cheerful. The scene looked so chill that Mia had to remind herself that she was in the middle of a mission.

It was difficult for Mia to be carefree, like the people sitting right next to her.

Carys had given up on counting his beer mugs. He kept on signalling the server and she was more than happy to serve him the next one in no time.

"Another one?" The server had a smug smile on her face.

"Yes." Carys picked up his beer mug in the air and gave a sloppy smirk to the server.

Ever since they set foot inside the club. The server had been looking at Carys like hungry people look at a good meal.

"She's totally into you," Lily spoke with slurs now. She swung right to left in her chair and almost bumped into Tony sitting by her right.

"You're drunk," Tony said, and tried to balance her by grabbing her shoulders.

She stopped and looked at Tony. "You've honey eyes," She whispered and leaned a little into him.

It was an accurate statement. Tony did have honey eyes. They were light brown and deep. With his black hair and fair skin, his eyes did outshine.

"You do?" Carys questioned and leaned into Tony, too. He almost went over the table in between him and Tony just so he could catch a glimpse of his eyes.

Mia just leaned back into her chair and watched the chaos unfold. She had obviously seen Tony's honey eyes before. They were beautiful and identical to Samantha's.

"Help me out here," Tony whispered under his breath and gave a kick to Mia from beneath the table.

Mia lightly chuckled before interrupting. "Let's go home. You guys are drunk."

"But you are not!" Carys immediately came back to his position. He then turned towards Mia. His eyes were drowsy. His skin was now a lighter shade of pink.

"And what about that?" Mia narrowed her eyebrows at him.

"You need to get drunk." Lily, too, settled down on her seat and puckered her lips.

"That is not happening." Mia folded her hands in front of her chest and leaned back into her seat again.

"Come on, Lily. I'll get you a cab." Tony said to Lily sulking like a baby next to him.

She turned towards him again. "Where did you get these eyes?"

"What is that question?" Tony gave out a chuckle and grabbed his phone to check the time.

"Just tell me, where did you get the eyes?" Lily whined like a child, and Tony just sighed.

"Just get her a cab." Mia shook her head in annoyance. "It's quite late."

"Come on, Lily." Tony grabbed Lily's arm, but she swiftly got out of the loose grip.

"Why are you two not drunk?" She questioned and Carys vigorously nodded his head.

"Why aren't they? Why aren't you, Bracelet Girl?" Carys questioned, resting his head on the table.

It had been very difficult for Tony to avoid the server, who was basically trying to get everyone drunk. He would occasionally take a sip from his mug and refrain from getting more drinks.

However for Mia, it was quite easy. She would just clearly refuse a drink and nobody would force her.

"Let's go. I have called you a cab." Tony finally stood up from his seat and pulled Lily up too.

"You're coming with me, right?" Lily stood up to face Tony. She stared at him with her heavy eyes, her lips in a pout.

"I am helping you to get in the cab." Tony clarified as he dragged Lily out of the table and helped her to get down from the chair.

"I am not going home without you," Lily spoke with a childish tone. Tony just looked at Mia, as if mentally complaining about Lily.

"Let's go." Tony gave out a deep breath and dragged Lily out towards the exit.

"Carys?" Mia called Carys. He had his head on the table with his eyes closed. He looked so peaceful that it pained Mia to wake him up.

"Carys? You can't sleep here." Mia tried again, but nothing changed. He had his eyes closed, and it felt like he was having the best sleep of his life in the middle of a rustic club that smelled like cheesy pizza and booze.

"Wake up. I am calling a cab for you too." Mia peeked into him.

She then slowly touched his shoulders. Carys was well-built. He had broad shoulders and a wide ribcage. Mia could feel his muscles tense under her touch.

He immediately opened his eyes and sat up straight, which made Mia retrieve her hand from his shoulder.

"Where's everyone?" He asked, rubbing his eyes and slowly taking in the surroundings.

"Tony has gone to help Lily get a cab and I'm calling you a cab right now," Mia said, taking out her phone from her pocket.

Carys suddenly blocked Mia's phone by putting his hand on it. Mia looked at him in bafflement.

"Can we stay for 15 minutes?" Carys softly whispered. It was not clear why he asked it so softly. Was it the beer or the environment? Mia would never know.

"Why?" Mia asked and stared at Carys.

Carys had no answer, so he took back his hand and just stared at her.

"You're not getting more drinks." Mia clarified and put her phone on the table.

Carys knew that he had won. He has convinced Mia to grant him 15 more minutes.

"I'm giving you five minutes." That sentence made Carys frown, but it was still a victory, nevertheless.

"Am I really drunk?" Carys asked and rested his head on his hand to face Mia.

Mia just nodded. There was no distance between them. Carys had heavy eyelids and with his elbow propped up on the table, his head resting on his hand, he stared directly into her eyes.

Slow classical music softly played in the background. The rustic club, which was too loud a few minutes ago, was now weirdly silent.

Mia looked around in an attempt to look past how beautiful Carys looked when he was drunk. His hair was all falling on his face, his nose was almost red, and his eyes were heavy.

"Why are you so flushed?" Carys softly asked Mia and pushed back one of the curls that had fallen on her forehead.

"I am not!" Mia sounded defensive, and it made Carys laugh.

"You're taking offence to that." He pointed out.

"I am not taking offence. I'm just correcting you." Mia stole a glance at Carys' right hand, which sat elegantly on his thigh.

It was shameful that Mia could not even take her eyes off Carys' hand. He had perfect hands.

"Mia," Carys called her. With the fear that she was just caught looking at his hands, Mia looked up and met Carys' eyes.

"You're very beautiful." Carys' words always made Mia's heart annoyingly warm. She hated it. She was not meant to be warm. Her heart was made of ice.

"Your time is up." Mia softly said and picked up her phone resting on the table.

"Please," Carys said. Strangely, there was no whining this time. He said it was like a demand, but a soft one.

"Your eyes are the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen, Mia." The way Carys said her name always made Mia like it a little more.

But she could not understand what Carys meant. She had the most basic eyes one could have. They had no soul, and they were black. On the contrary, Carys indeed had eyes which could make heads turn.

They were light blue, like the sky in the morning sun. Mia's eyes were the epitome of peak darkness at night.

"Come on." Mia tapped on her phone to call Carys a club. "Your cab will be here in no time."

"But I've not said the thing that I wanted to say to you." Carys pushed himself up and sat straight.

"I told you, your time is up," Mia warned him again, but he just smiled at himself.

Mia knew that Carys was very drunk. He had reached the stage where one would start hysterically laughing at a totally normal thing on the street.

He won't remember anything the next morning; Mia thought to herself.

"I like you, Mia." Carys turned to Mia and said.

Mia stopped for a second, only to comprehend what was said a second ago by the man sitting right next to her.

I like you, Mia.

"You're drunk." Mia stood up from her chair and walked past Carys.

Carys grabbed Mia's hand. It stopped her from going further. The warm touch of Carys' palm on her wrist made her shiver. It was not cold here, but she had the most confusing reactions to him.

"I think I'm about to throw up," Carys said and then a gagging sound was heard, which made Mia shake her hand out of that grip.
