"I am not allowing you to wear leather pants to a party okay?" Samantha says as she pulls out a white satin shirt from her suitcase. All her clothes are still in her bag, she needs to make her closet as soon as possible.
Mia groans in frustration but agrees half-heartedly because she doesn't want to get caught. Leather pants are for her mafia business only.
She takes the white satin shirt and sits back on the bed in Samantha's room to reflect back on how she ended up in this situation.
It all started when the class was over and she was walking down the class to exit the premises as fast as she could. When she walked right across Carys' seat where as usual a crowd had assembled, a girl with white-rimmed glasses said her name. Mia was startled and looked back immediately to see the person calling her. The girl smiled as soon as Mia caught her eyes.
"Would you like to join the party at my house today?" The girl asked Mia. Mia was quick enough to just shake her head in dismissal but Carys had other plans.
"Come on Bracelet Girl, you can spare a few minutes," he says. Mia darted her eyes towards him and stared at him in annoyance but this didn't stop Carys. "You are worried about your facade." He whispered, leaning into her ears. A sudden shrug went through Mia's body and she jerked back.
"I will come," Mia says just to prove Carys wrong. Carys gives a chuckle. Mia also knows that this will be the perfect opportunity to get to know the places where Carys goes regularly and the people he talks to.
"Do you guys know each other?" The girl who has originally invited Mia now says after hearing the conversation.
"No." Mia simply denied it and walked towards the exit. Her steps are fast and this gives Carys a good laugh.
"Mia, Mia," Samantha gives a pat on Mia's Shoulder who is lost in her own dreams. Little did Samantha know, Mia is thinking of ways to kill Carys.
"Yeah… yes," Mia answers and gets up from the bed picking up the white satin shirt behind her. The shirt is as shiny as it can be. "What is there to pair it up with?" Mia asks.
"Blue Jeans, just basic stuff." Samantha says and Mia nods in response. The room went silent after a second. There is nothing to speak for the both of them right now. Both of the girls remember what has happened this morning. Mia yelled at Samantha and Samantha just left her behind.
"I am sorry, sugar. I shouldn't have said that, this morning." Mia finally says and looks at Samantha who is sitting by her suitcase sorting her clothes out to fit them in the closet. She drops the piece of clothing which is in her hands and walks toward Mia. She smiles and hugs her tight.
"I am sorry too," Samantha says in response to the genuine apology. Mia's grip tightens around Samantha and they both rest their heads on each other's shoulders to physically tell each other that they will always be together and forgive each other every time.
"Now go or you will get late. Tony is already there." Samantha says and Mia agrees. "He will be the life of the party," Mia replies before leaving the room to get ready.
It took Mia almost fifteen minutes to get ready and leave the apartment after hundreds of touch-ups that Samantha gave her. After all, it was the first-ever party that Mia was going to. It was a big deal for Mia. As much as she tried to be cool in front of Samantha deep down she was anxious. It was the first time that she was invited to a party.
The drive to the girl's residence was full of anxiety for Mia. The address for the party was shared in the group of which Mia was a part. Mia couldn't help but be surprised by the fact that she was a part of the group chat for their class. She could never have imagined mingling with the people of her age at a University, staying in an apartment with her best friend in the middle of New York.
The black car came to a halt after a few minutes. "Madam, I will be right here." The driver, who was obviously one of her bodyguards says, sitting in the driver's seat.
Mia nodded and walked inside the lavish house. The iron gate was opened wide and the pathway was filled with green grass on either side. Mia slowly walked inside. The big house was right at the end of the path with a swimming pool just in front of it.
Mia scanned the premises but she could only find drunk 20-year-olds talking in slurs and laughing their heads off. In the far right corner, Tony sat by one of the girls who Mia has seen frequently in the class with Tony.
Tony saw Mia and slightly nodded his head, the movement was so subtle that even the girl sitting right beside him couldn't notice it. Mia nodded back and slowly walked towards the two empty chairs by the swimming pool. There were people inside the pool and people by the edge of the pool hanging their feet in the cold water. Mia and swimming pools never had a great relationship so she pulled the chair back a little so there is enough distance between her and the water, she took a seat afterwards.
"Look who it is." The voice was familiar and gave chills down Mia's spine but she dared not show it to the man standing behind her. The man then dragged the one empty chair beside Mia and sat on it. His legs are spread so much that his left knee almost touches the outside of Mia's thigh and she flinches at the collision.
"Bracelet Girl," Carys says, almost ignoring the collision that has impacted Mia extensively. Mia looks at Carys and scoffs.
"Get over yourself," she says and Carys raises his eyebrows in amusement. "What did I say?" Mia knows that Carys is playing with innocence and Mia is stopping herself with all her might to wipe the smugness off Carys' face with a punch at his gut.
"Carys come on, we are playing Put Your Finger Down." A voice calls from inside the house and both of them turn their heads back. "Drunk Edition." The girl then laughs. She catches Mia looking at her and she jumps in excitement.
"Mia you're here." Just then Mia remembers the girl, she is the one who invited Mia. "Come on, Mia. We will play." She waves her hand at Mia and gestures to her to come inside the house through the glass window. Mia can see a large crowd gathered by the couch through the glass window and now she is hesitant to join a bunch of drunk kids.
"I think I would rather not," says Mia. The girl then frowns but says nothing in protest. She is too drunk to pursue Mia so she walks inside defeated. "Are you afraid of losing?" Carys who was silently observing her says, leaning again towards her. His knee is now practically invading Mia's privacy and as a reaction, Mia stands up from her seat and walks inside the house where Tony is already seen sitting on one of the chairs. Tony is surprised to see Mia take a seat on the bean bag right next to him but they don't speak to each other. They can't.
Carys joins them but sits right opposite Mia and now Tony is mushed between the two.
