Zale’s POV
I woke up the next morning feeling… fine.
The was no headache, no pain in my chest or numb arms and, maybe most of all, feeling like I had slept. I couldn’t remember waking up even once during the night or any of the nightmares I had had while sleeping.
This was something I noticed to have been happening for the past few days now. Usually I would wake up with all of those symptoms and then some but my head felt clear for the first time in a long time and I found myself wondering why.
For a moment I wondered if it was the hotel I had been staying at since my mother left. I had decided it was a good idea to sleep at a hotel rather than the penthouse where Adeline was staying. In the week my mother had been staying with us we had grown more and more comfortable with each other.
