Adeline POV
Deluna looked at me like I had grown a second head. And then blinked like I had just spoken an entirely different language.
“What?” she asked.
She sounded like I had been speaking in an entirely different language and nothing I just said made any sense to her.
I knew that I had to tell her more to make her understand, but I don’t think that she’s even grasped the entire concept just yet.
“We faked the ceremony,” I told her again. “He wasn’t my mate. Or, at least, he wasn’t supposed to be. He wasn’t who was fated for me. The Moon had nothing to do with our bond.”
It was sacrosanct at best, and heresy at worst. Zale and I knew what he had done was wrong on so many levels. But we had both had reason enough to do it. There was no justification, there was only our excuses that we could offer ourselves as answers.
Deluna swallowed hard, and then turned away from me. She took a deep breath before speaking.
