Chapter 12 - Chapter 10: The One Who Saw Fate

He awoke, once more in a void, however this time he could walk, he could move.

A figure appeared in the distant darkness shining an eerie gold as it walked towards him. It was the frost wolf, its body now fully reformed. It stopped in front of him staring straight into his soul.

Then it turned and walked away.

"Follow"

An unknown voice spoke to him.

It was comforting, the voice itself felt like a warm embrace that seemed to want to guide him out of the darkness. So he followed, trailing behind the gold-glowing frost wolf.

As they walked for what seemed like an unknown time, the darkness around them began to gradually fade away. The scene changed the more they walked, as they began to tread into a luscious forest, teeming with life.

Walking Andrew noticed a pack of what appeared to be high-rank frost wolves sprinting in his direction. Their surrounding aura froze their surroundings. Immediately, he held his breath and tried to prepare for any oncoming attack.

π˜žπ˜–π˜–π˜–π˜šπ˜

All he felt was a chilly breeze, as the wolves ran straight through Andrew's body.

Andrew let go of the breath he had held in. At his current strength, it was impossible to take on a pack of what seemed to be high-rank frost wolves by himself.

Watching the pack leave and disappear deeper into the forest, Andrew heard a low whimper. Turning around he looked for the origin of the sound. Out a little ways in the distance of the forest behind a tree, one could see a small slightly fluffy white tail poking.

Carefully making his way toward the tree, Andrew slowly moved around. In front of him was a baby frost wolf. Unlike its brethren, it seemed to be alone without a pack. The baby frost wolf was about the size of a large dog.

It whimpered as it curled into itself seemingly hurt by something. Poking its head out of its curled state, it made eye contact with him.

Andrew's eyes narrowed, the baby frost wolf had a wound one that was quite fresh. However, the issue wasn't that but where the wound was located. Just across its right eye as its shining purple orbs stared back at him.

This was the frost wolf he had just killed.

"Follow"

Once more the voice spoke, this time appearing more lofty, as it echoed in Andrew's head. Andrew looked around and just a couple of feet away from him, he could see the shimmering golden figure of the frost wolf that he followed into this place.

Slowly getting up he trailed behind the figure, as the scene around him changed once more. The forest around him began to crumble with every step. The world seemed to tear itself apart.

Then piece by piece the world around him reformed. Like playing back a video of glass shattering in reverse, everything slowly reconstructed itself. The environment around him is no longer that of a forest teeming, but a dark, damp, and lifeless cave.

They kept walking until the golden-figured frost wolf stilled. Wondering what was happening Andrew moved in front and pass the frost wolf's ghost. The scene in front of him made him freeze.

In the middle of the open cavern within this huge cave lay the corpses of two high-rank frost wolves that he saw running through the forest before. Trails of blood lead from their bodies down a path that lead to what must have been the entrance of the cave.

They seemed to have struggled and brought themselves into the cave in an attempt at finding protection to survive.

Then out of the distance, the baby frost wolf was seen slowly walking toward the corpses of the adult frost wolves. As it reached the corpses, it began to sniff them, as if trying to identify them.

The next scene then made Andrew still.

Immediately the baby frost wolf seemed to open its mouth and began to devour the flesh of the adult frost wolves. What once seemed like a harmless creature caught in unfortunate circumstances, was now a ferocious bloodthirsty beast. All that could be heard were the sounds of flesh tearing as it feasted upon the corpses.

All of a sudden, a soft glow came from one of the frost wolf corpses, a glow which Andrew immediately recognized, it was the glow of a monster core and a high-ranked one as well.

Then the baby frost in its haste accidentally consumed the core as well.

π˜“π˜œπ˜‰ - π˜‹π˜œπ˜‰

A heartbeat could be heard, it was the heartbeat of the baby frost wolf.

π˜‰π˜–π˜–π˜”

A frozen aura exploded from the body of the baby frost wolf as it began to howl nonstop.

π˜ˆπ˜ˆπ˜žπ˜žπ˜–π˜–π˜–π˜–

Aether seemed to unravel and surround the baby frost wolf, like a small hurricane. Through the aether, Andrew can see the baby frost wolf begin to grow. Its body itself seemed forced into evolution as its howls grew louder.

π˜ˆπ˜žπ˜žπ˜–π˜–π˜–π˜–π˜–π˜–

Its previously small limbs seemed to crack, break and grow. Its body morphed and shifted in such an erratic way as if someone was trying to tear it apart and put it back together.

π˜π˜žπ˜–π˜–π˜”

The aether burst outwards and standing in the baby frost wolf's place was a beast of large proportions. It stood tall with its head adorned with crystals of Ice that made it look like royalty. It was a far cry from its former infant form.

However, there was something else that stood out about the frost wolf, as Andrew stared at it his heart began to beat faster. The frost wolf standing in front of him now bears the exact visage of the frost wolf that Andrew had killed.
