[Ellie's P.O.V.]
I hugged Edith and stroked her hair. She was even skinnier than the last time I hugged her. Her body barely had enough muscle mass, making her condition look more worrisome.
Compared to when I first met her, when she was in high spirits, Edith now looked like a child. One second she was talking, the next she would fall asleep. By now, she was essentially bedridden.
Now that she was asleep, I slowly placed her on the bed and gently covered her with the blanket.
Just as I was about to stretch my back, I heard a commotion outside. I took a look at Edith, who was sleeping peacefully, before I quietly walked out and closed the door to see what was going on.
As I walked, I had already guessed what was happening. It was most likely those gangsters who had come to cause trouble again.
