I take step back despite the pull I felt dragging me towards the human. There was a hum in the air, light and fluttery, almost soft against my skin. From all the stories my parents drummed into my head the minute I was old enough to discern what a mate was, I knew without a shadow of doubt that thus low life criminal was my mate.
Rage bubbled underneath my skin. Was my life a joke to the moon goddess? Did I seem like the perfect candidate whose life she could toy with as much as she liked?
"What? Is this the leader?" My mat—the human laughed.
I turn my sharp gaze at him. He was not bleeding, they didn't beat him as i had not ordered them to. He was mocking me.
"When you told me to wait, I expected a big, buff man. Not a tiny teenager." He laughed again.
A growl tore from my lips before I could stop it. His movements froze, he was not expecting the sound to come from a tiny teenager. I hated him. I hated the sound of his voice, I hated the way he talked to me condescendingly.
"Where is it?" I use my interrogation voice on him. I heard from Erin that everyone was actually scared when I talked like that. He said it was like ice and it was chilly. He told me once that he got goosebumps just hearing it.
"Where is what?" The laughter had died from his voice. He was looking from my face to the guards. I bet I wasn't looking so tiny now was I?
I smack my palm flat against the metal table. He jumped in his seat. I take my opportunity with his fear. He was already scared, so I bend to meet his eyes. I almost lost my cool when I see them. They were so stunning. They were the green colour of the sea. Staring at them I almost hear the waves and taste the salt. I focus on something else, a tiny mole by the side of his upper lip. I never really liked moles, so it was perfect for me not to lose my focus whole I interrogated him.
"You really want me to spell it out for you?" I sneer at him.
"I can't deny he is good looking." Grace tells me.
I ignore her and focus on the human in front of me.
"I really have no idea what you are talking about."
"Don't fucking lie to my face." This time I make sure I bare my teeth at him.
I see his Adam's apple bob up and down as he swallowed.
"I swear it to you. Also don't curse at me. My grandma taught me it isn't nice to swear at your elders."
"He might be a thief but he is right. Don't curse at him."
"Where is the thing you stole from the museum?" I snap. Willing Grace to shut up. I won't be able to concentrate if she kept yapping into my head.
He raised a brow at me. The look of fear totally gone.
"You really have to be specific there." He had a stupid smirk plastered on his face.
"How many items did he steal from the museum?!" Grace sounded so disgusted at what he was insinuating.
I don't even want to think about all the things I must have done to make the moon goddess hate me so much she gave me a human mate, and then he went ahead to be thief.
"The crown." I say as evenly as I could.
His eyes flicker with recognition. I stand up straight. So he was with the Fletcher.
I signal one of the Omegas who brought him in.
"Was a search conducted?" I ask simply.
I don't have to waste so much time talking with him. He could leave. The hum was getting harder to ignore each second I was close to him.
"Yes."
"Well? Where is it?" I ask impatiently.
I wanted to run away from him, cowardice I know. But standing close to him was like giving up my sanity. I was not going to do that.
The Omega looked uncomfortable.
"That's the problem. We found nothing on him. He was not even with a bag. I don't know where he hid it."
I turn to face the human again. A stupid grin was spread across his face.
"I don't have your crown. Can I go now?" He indicated at his cuffed hands.
"You don't want this to happen to you. Give us the crown and you can walk away from this unharmed."
He cocked his head to the side as he watched me with that stupid grin in place.
"Or What?"
"You face the wrath." I don't know when I lost the investigation voice, but I brought it back.
"What do you pick?" I ask just as the torturers stepped out of the shadows.
He took one look at them and stopped grinning, his eyes widen a fraction. I felt a deep sense of satisfaction from watching that. It was high time he got knocked off his high horse.
The torturers were four huge men that wore metal masks that covered more than half of their faces. Their arms more muscles than bones. Thankfully I was stronger than them even as they were only because I was the Alpha.
"A masquerade party? Oh snap. I thought it was dress up as who you wanted to be party. I dressed up as a lock picker." He says with a smile as he sprung free from the seat. The hand cuffs lay discarded by the side, he was running to the entrance where he cane from.
"He is thief, I can't believe you thought he won't be able to escape something like that." Grace lectured.
I don't have time to answer her.
"Make sure you catch him!" I order as they sprint after him.
I know that was a bit of an over kill as the dungeon was a labyrinth, if you didn't know this place so well you won't come out of it at all, you'll keep going in circles. Most especially when it was a human. We could easily sniff him out in a couple of seconds.
"I so much hate this human." I grit my teeth while relying the information to Grace.
"Yeah, do you think this is a test from the moon goddess? Maybe she he isn't our real mate and this is just to test our strength as the alpha."
I roll my eyes.
"Test my ass. She hates me that's a fact."
I felt the pull that was slowly be coming familiar. If this was a test, it felt too real. It felt like we were metals to each other at the same time we are magnets, I was being dragged towards him. And I let it lead the way. I trusted it was going to take me straight to him. Like it did the first time I saw him.
I ran right into him. I wasn't even looking in front of me, I just let my feet do the moving and i rammed into him.
Both of us fall to the ground. By some reason, I end up underneath him, he landed on top of me. I gasp in pain from the impact.
"Shot him!"
