"Bring in the Omega." My voice was so icy I felt the bite.
They shuffled along the stone floor, each and every one of them trying to get as far away from me as they could. I heard from Erin that when I got like this, only the ones that aren't fast enough, get to attend to me for the following week.
My teeth bared on it's own when he was flung in front of me. The last time I saw him, he wore clean spandex and was cradling his jaw. And few hours later he was in prisoner's outfit and he already looked terrible. The walls of the cells were laced with silver, so if he didn't look bad then it would be suspicious.
"Who set up to It?" I ask without hesitation.
He scrambled to his knees, I never understand people who think they can beg their way of a situation. I asked him a question all he had to do was answer, I was no witch but I can predict that within the next few seconds he would be begging for his life.
"Spare me. Please spare me. Save my life. My family and i will serve you forever."
I land a slap squarely in his face. He wobbled backwards from the force, he was weakened by the silver and he was an Omega, he was no less than a human right now.
"From now on. You will answer only what you are asked. Else.." I let my sentence hang in the air.
"Who put you up to this? Don't you dare pretend that you have no idea what I am talking about."
He looked like he was going to start crying. I could not care less about a few drops tears that obviously means nothing.
"I have no idea.."
A punch was sent to his side. He gasped for air and choked on the pain. His whole face was red as he cradled himself on the floor.
"Who put you up to this? I will not ask again."
"A letter.." He breathed through the pain.
"What letter?" I feel myself get impatient.
"My daughter came back home with a letter attached to her.." was all he could manage through the pain.
My fist clenched. What sick person attached a letter of that nature to a kid?
"Where is the letter?"
"A hidden pocket in my office. Paul knows where that is." He was breathing harshly.
I raise my eyes to the others that stood guard at the door. They shifted on their feet.
"Get Paul in here."
Another omega ran towards me, he was here all the while so he must have heard his friend. He stopped short, kneeling in front of me.
"Bring me that letter."
He didn't need to be told twice. He sprinted out of the holding cell in a flash, he didn't want to be in the same position as his friend.
"And the gun? Where is it?"
"It was taken from me."
Someone scrambled towards me and placed a Ziploc bag containing the gun, on top of the table by my side.
"Who gave this to you?"
"It came with the letter." His voice was angry.
I was not expecting that. Whoever did that did not even think about the dangers of sending a gun with a kid just to make a statement. People could be cruel. How much do they hate me that they passed through a child.
"If I find out by any chance that you are lying." I seethe.
There was a possibility that he was lying, I would not put it past him to lie about such things, after all there was a healing bullet wound to prove it.
Paul rushed in with the letter. He wore a leather glove as he brought it in. Clever and also suspicious.
I peel open the letter with my bare hands, my finger prints will definitely come up but it did not matter.
Four lines. Four simple lines.
KILL YOUR LEADER
OR
YOUR DAUGHTER GOES
YOUR CHOICE
I place it flatly on the table, my mind reeling with endless possibilities about who it could be. Charles would not bother with sending a henchmen, he would very much love to kill me himself. I look over the letter, there was an insignia on the bottom. So tiny you would think it was a speck of dust.
"Send this to the forensics, I need everything I can get on this. Especially that thing there." I say looking pointedly at the insignia.
Paul bowed before picking it up like it was filth.
"I want it as soon as possible."
He nodded and scurried off.
"If you were given this, I am willing to bet you are not the only one. Go home and look after your family. I presume once they know you didn't hit me, they will come after you."
He didn't need to be told twice. He bowed before running away as fast as his body let him. I sighed to myself. I was hoping this was going to be a selfish decision, that would have been easier to solve.
"I have heard heavy is the head that wears the crown." The voice I absolutely did not want to hear again spoke.
I needed to do other things before attending to him. He could wait, he was not as important as protecting my people.
"Tighten the security around the Omegas house and office. Just until the effects of the silver wears off and he is able to fend for himself." I tell the last guard standing at the entrance.
"M. There is nobody else to protect you. I'm the only one here.. if anything happens." He argued.
I instantly know he is one of the men my dad put to look after me. Even when I told him I was fine.
"Don't worry, I'm okay. His daughter might not be."
"Your safety.."
"The safety of the people comes first to me."
He looked like he was going to argue more but he bowed before leaving. It gave me hope that there was at least one person asides my parents and Erin who didn't wish I was dead.
"I thought you were the henchman or woman for the show runner around here, turns out you are the show runner."
I turn to face the human in the cell, he was smiling that stupid smile that I want so desperately to kick off.
"It's just you and me thief, where is the crown?" my tone left no room for jokes and if it were one of my pack member they would hand it over while shaking like a leaf. Unfortunately he was not a pack member, he was an annoying human thief.
"Do you think I would readily hand it over? Especially when it's just the two of us?" he was smirking.
"Actually, you should even be more afraid that it is just the two of us." I warn.
The stupid smirk turned into a large shit eating grin that I want to carve out of his face.
"What is the name of your gang? I have dealt with a lot of gangs in the past and neither of them were as interesting as yours."
I cock my head to study him better. He must not even realize what we are. Better for me.
"The crown." I grit out the words.
He shook his head as if that's not he wants to talk about.
"We are both business people. You should know that is not how we do business." He was still grinning.
I was getting very impatient with this guy.
"I could torture in unimaginable ways just to get that crown off your hands."
His grin grew even more, I don't want to know how that is possible.
"You know how much it will fetch me?"
"Name your price." I sigh.
A headache was pushing it's way through my temples. The bullet wound was still throbbing even as Grace was stitching it back shut.
His grin grew even wider. I knew that I was going to hate whatever was going to come out of his mouth.
And I did.
