The gelatinous sucked her head fully inside it as soon as she finished her sentence and May attempted to struggle harder from her sudden lack of air. The witch then placed her hands on her hips and spoke aloud in thought. "Well, that was easier than I expected. While that suffocates you I'll go see if my pets have eaten your friend yet. Stick around." She laughed to herself as she walked out of the room and into a hallway, and May raised an eyebrow at her pun.
She gave up struggling after a few moments and looked down at the levitating spell book next to the chair that the witch had seemed to have forgotten to put away. 'I know Dedrin told me to stay out of the way but I have to help! All I need to do is get free before I die. I don't know how much longer I can go without air! I need to think fast!' She thought. She looked around for something to help her get out but found nothing. She struggled again but she couldn't move no matter how hard she tried.
She managed to open her mouth enough to try and yell for help but got a mouthful of pink goo instead. She stopped in surprise as she tasted it. 'Wait a minute! This isn't slime! It's strawberry jam!! My favorite food!!' She immediately started eating, and soon she was able to breathe again after sucking all the jelly from around her face. She ate and ate, slowly releasing her limbs from their delicious prison, and as she ate she could only think one thing. 'I AM IN HEAVEN!'

I stopped running down the corridor once I knew that nothing was chasing me and caught my breath. I sheathed my sword a moment later and started exploring. 'I might as well try and find the ruby before getting the spell book. Maybe I could use its power against her.' I searched for a while and went up a few floors, checking every room I saw on the way. So far I had found nothing and was getting impatient. 'Where the hell is it?'
I opened another door after I finished my thought and stopped to see large spiderwebs completely covering the room from top to bottom. I turned as I started to close the door. "Nope. Not going in there." Just then, something hit me hard in the stomach as I turned around and I flung back into the room. I landed in the center of a huge web and stuck to it like glue.
I couldn't budge from how sticky it was, but that was the least of my problems. Suddenly, huge spiders came out from the large cracks in the wall and crawled towards me. They were as big as dogs, and I could see every one of their eight black-filled eyes above their large fangs as they crawled toward me. I struggled harder as they got closer, but they suddenly stopped to a familiar voice coming from the doorway. "Wait."
I turned my head to see the witch standing there in front of the light of the hall, and the spiders crawled back as she walked into the room. I realized that she was the one who pushed me into the web and my face showed anger as she spoke. "I don't know how you managed to escape my alligators in one piece, and I'm actually quite impressed that you did. You must be really quick with your mind and quite the warrior, Your Highness."
She came close enough to me to raise her hand to my cheek with a mischievous grin. "I like that in a man. Why don't you forget about this book business and stay here with me..." She then moved her face closer to mine and casually pressed her large chest against me. My eyes narrowed and I stayed still as I spoke. "If you think I'm a victim of lust, then think again." Her smile stayed strong and she moved closer to me than she already was. "Every man is a victim of lust. You just choose to ignore it."
She was about to kiss me when a loud bang came from downstairs. She paused for a moment, then pulled away with irritation. "What now?" She turned around and started to walk out the door and didn't turn to look behind her as she said one last thing. "Kill him." She disappeared into smoke right after, and the spiders started coming at me again. I panicked and pulled my arms as hard as I could.
One of my wrists ripped off from the web and I quickly drew my sword. I then sliced open the spider beside me that was about to sink its teeth into my other hand. It shrieked and I cut the webs from my other arm and both my legs. After I was free I chopped each spider into bits, one at a time. I realized that there were too many of them and more were coming from the cracks in the walls, so I ran to the door as soon as I got the chance.
I quickly escaped and slammed the door behind me before they could reach it, and exhaled in relief. "Of all the pets in the world, she had to have alligators and spiders. Typical. I better find that ruby now before she discovers that I escaped again." I started to walk fast down the hall, hoping that I would get lucky.

The witch appeared back in the main room where she had imprisoned May to see what the cause of the bang they heard earlier was. She saw that the glob of jelly had fallen to the ground and she was shocked to see that nearly half of it was gone, and May wasn't inside of it anymore. She turned to see May taking her spell book from the place it was levitating and screamed. "No! Put that back!"
May returned it quickly and nervously. "Oh! Sorry, I-! Wait, force of habit." She took it again and shook her head as she turned to the witch while holding the book in her arm. "Sorry, but no! I need this!" The witch had an intense glare as she said what she did next. "Then perish!" She started shooting more magic at her and when May flew too far away, she whistled and a broom came to her side.
She hopped on the broom and flew up into the air after May while riding it, continuing to fire magic at her. "How did you escape?!" May maneuvered around a bunch of beams as she responded. "You know you trapped me in food, right?" The witch's expression was filled with anger as she continued to chase her. "It was a disgusting food! Who would eat such a gross jam by itself?!" May gasped. "You don't like strawberry jam?! You monster!"

After another while of finding nothing, I stopped by a window in one of the towers. 'This strategy isn't working. If I continue to just look around I'm never going to find it. I need to think about this differently. If I was a witch, what would I use a magic ruby for?' I thought. I happened to glance out the window and saw the edge of the storm cloud in the air that only seemed to hover above this building. 'That's interesting...'
